I scooped them up from the bed and ran to ask Si Jingnian for her opinion.

She snapped her book shut and stood up to walk over.

Her tall figure made me feel pressured. She took the dresses from my arms.

She began to comment on them one by one. “This one will show your belly button when you move. Don’t wear it. You might catch a cold.”

That dress had a cleverly designed waist. It looked normal when still, but raised arms would reveal part of the waist and belly button.

“Didn’t you say this one felt tight before?”

The sleeves just covered my arms, the neckline showed my collarbones but fully covered my chest, and the back had a small cutout that revealed the shoulder blades. The waist had a slight court-dress style fit. It was cute with a hint of sexiness.

I picked up the scattered dresses from the sofa.

I changed into the chosen dress and began searching for accessories. I looked for heels, a necklace, earrings, and a headband.

I buzzed around the house like a spinning top, from the living room to the bedroom, then to the bathroom, over and over.

I even chose the eyeshadow palette and makeup style I would wear that day.

With my makeup done, I put on a small silver clavicle necklace and confidently strutted in front of Si Jingnian like a runway model. Without words, I was showing off, asking for her opinion.

I made three rounds in front of her, but she didn’t even lift her head.

I walked over to the coffee table and pouted at her.

The coffee table was just above my knees. I climbed onto it and knelt, inching closer to her. “Hey, look at me.”

Si Jingnian finally looked up. By then, I was only about forty centimeters away.

She jumped in surprise, and her glasses tilted.

“Why are you kneeling on the table? It’s cold.” Her second reaction was to try and pull me down.

I dodged her arms and sat instead. Crossing my arms, I looked at her with sparkly, pitiful eyes.

“Why didn’t you look at me?”

“Am I not pretty?”

“You’re beautiful.”

She finally hugged me. She sat on the sofa, and I sat in her lap.

“Then why didn’t you look?” I pouted, avoiding eye contact.

“Looking at you distracts me from work.”

“And you dressed up this much just to meet other people.”

“I’m jealous.”

Her words and the cold palm on my bare back made me feel both fire and ice.

Her voice was sour with jealousy, but her hand was cool. I shivered in her arms.

“Wha—what’s there to be jealous of? I dressed up to meet your friends, okay? If they weren’t your friends, I wouldn’t even bother to wash my hair!”

“I believe you.” Si Jingnian’s fingers moved to the zipper at my back and slowly pulled it down. “But I’m still jealous.”

I held my breath. I could barely hear her words. All my attention was on her hand, which was moving out of control.

“Xiaoyu, what should I do?”

“Huh? What?” I didn’t hear her question. Her hand had wrapped around my C cup. My thoughts were slipping away.

“I said, what should I do if I can’t stop being jealous?” She whispered into my ear, every word drilling straight into my eardrum. Her voice was clear, but all I could feel was the heat in my ear and the pressure of her hand.

Caught in fire and water.

“N-nothing. Don’t do anything.”

Hearing that, Si Jingnian chuckled softly, her voice full of intimacy.

Because she was speaking right into my ear, the heat rushed through me, ignited by her laughter.

She slowly moved downward. I caught her hands and, seeing her puzzled face, whispered, “My period isn’t over yet…”

She laughed out loud, leaving me so embarrassed I wanted to hide.

I shut her up with a kiss.
