GL My Goddess Best Friend’s Seduction (H) - Chapter 33
I held Si Jingnian’s cheeks in my hands and gently kissed away the tears at the corners of her eyes.
Then I slowly pulled back my lips and stood up straight, creating a little distance between us.
Her arms were still tightly wrapped around me.
I placed my hands on her slender waist again.
The bedroom light was off. My window was open. Moonlight spilled across the floor. The living room lights were bright, and the two of us stood right at the line between light and shadow. Our eyes locked onto each other’s faces.
The world seemed to have gone completely quiet, leaving only the two of us.
My eyes scanned every inch of Si Jingnian’s face with greedy admiration and complete fascination.
Her eyes looked like they were filled with water, and now I could understand the affection hidden in them.
We stood there like that, staring at each other.
No one knew how long had passed. Suddenly, my phone buzzed on the desk. Someone was calling.
That broke the strange spell I was under.
I gently pushed on Si Jingnian’s stomach to get her to release me.
She loosened her arms from around me. Just as I turned, I felt her catch my right hand and slowly intertwine her slender, soft fingers with mine.
I looked down at our tightly clasped hands, and my heart began to race.
She followed me to my desk.
It was a call from Li Xian. I showed Si Jingnian the screen, and she nodded to show it was okay.
I answered. “Hello?”
“So? Was it moving? Are you two together now?” Li Xian sounded incredibly excited, as if he had just unlocked an achievement in a game.
“Very moving.” I tightened my grip on Si Jingnian’s hand and smiled brightly at her. “We’re together now.”
“Aaaahhh that’s amazing! I knew it!” Li Xian howled like a wolf on the other end of the line. “You better treat my boss right. She’s waited for you for so, so many years.”
“I will. Thank you, Brother Xian.” I could hear how happy he was, and it was obvious his friendship with Si Jingnian was genuine. But what did he mean by saying she had waited for me for so many years?
After hanging up, I pulled Si Jingnian to sit with me on my bed and turned on the warm bedside lamp.
Under the soft light, her face took on a gentle glow, no longer cool and distant like usual. She looked unbelievably beautiful.
Staring at her, I got a little lost. Thinking of what Li Xian said, I asked curiously, “Li Xian said you waited for me for many years?”
A rosy cloud instantly bloomed across Si Jingnian’s face. She bit her lower lip. From her eyes, her cheeks, and her lips, I read her shyness.
She opened her mouth, as if finally making up her mind. “Xiaoyu, I like you.”
My heart filled with a honey-sweet warmth. Though I had just said I was willing, she had not yet actually confessed.
“Since when?” I raised my free hand and gently cupped her flushed face, stroking her skin very slowly.
Her face grew hotter. Her breathing became irregular.
“A long, long time ago.” Her voice carried the weight of distant memories. In the light, her glistening eyes were full of nostalgia.
“Back in high school?” My hand lingered near her bright eyes, drawn closer to her clear pupils.
“Mm…” She blinked reflexively. My fingers landed on her thick eyelashes. She seemed like she wanted to avoid it but held still.
“Did you start liking me in our second year?” I lowered my voice, as if reciting a spell. My hand slid to her slightly upturned nose. She tightened her grip on my hand nervously.
“Mm…” She avoided my gaze, her face burning. I was not even sure she had clearly heard my question.
“So you didn’t like me in our first year?” I pouted slightly, pretending to be unhappy. But my mischievous hand still wandered across her face, now arriving near her philtrum.
“That’s not true.” She quickly grabbed my unruly fingers, holding them just beneath her nose. “I liked you in our first year.”
“That was in 2006. It’s been thirteen years.” I muttered, counting the years. My heart ached.
I pulled my hand back, filled with guilt and pain. I looked at her seriously. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”
The blush on her face faded a little, and her tone grew steadier. “If you didn’t like me, it would have troubled you.”
She paused. “I didn’t want to lose you. Even just being your friend would have been fine.”
“As long as I could stay by your side.”
Si Jingnian really knew what she was doing.
She was too good at saying sweet things. And I had called myself a rainbow projector of cheesy lines, but I could not resist hers at all.
I pressed my lips together hard to hold back tears. “Are you stupid?”
She smiled and shook her head.
“Didn’t it hurt when you saw me get engaged to Qi Zhengyu?”
“It did.” Hearing that, her face darkened with hopelessness. But then she forced a smile. “But it was enough just to stay by your side.”
“You fool…” I hugged her again. This time I did not hold back my tears. They soaked into her shoulder, one drop at a time.
She gently patted the back of my head. Her voice was full of tender emotion. “It was all worth it.”
I sniffled and asked, “You liked me for thirteen years, but I only just fell for you. Doesn’t that make you sad?”
My feelings, whether in time or depth, could not compare. It felt unfair to her.
“No. I’m already so happy that you like me.” She hugged me tighter. “So happy it feels like a dream.”
“It’s not a dream.” I raised my voice. “Then you’d better work hard to make me love you a little more each day, so I can catch up to your love.”
“Okay,” she replied.
We hugged like that for who knows how long. It lasted until I began to feel a little tired.
But I was buzzing inside. I really wanted to kiss her, to finally do what I had imagined and dreamed of so many times.
But I felt shy. I chickened out.
Some time passed before she let go of me and said we could go to sleep.
I glanced at my phone. It was almost 11 p.m.
I did not want to be apart from her at all. I still wanted to cling to her. I bit my lip, hesitated, then asked, “Do you want to sleep together?”
“No.” Si Jingnian turned me down. I probably looked disappointed, because she explained, “It’s too soon.”
The meaning behind her words was obvious to anyone.
My face immediately flushed red. That was not what I meant.
Besides, I had always believed in no physical intimacy before marriage.
So I shouted angrily, “What kind of nonsense are you thinking? I don’t plan to have sex before marriage!”
Heaven knows, I had made such a silly vow.
“We haven’t even kissed. How could we possibly…” I started rambling.
Before I finished, soft lips pressed against mine. Her lips were as tender as pudding, and the scent of her skin and hair enveloped me.
It was a very short kiss.
My eyes widened. Si Jingnian had kissed me.
She pulled back immediately and stood beside my bed. Her face was blazing, and her eyes refused to meet mine. She awkwardly muttered, “We’ve kissed now…”
My face turned bright red. She had kissed me!
And then hinted at something else! Based on what I just said, wasn’t she implying that now that we had kissed, the next step wasn’t far off?
I blushed so hard I probably looked like I was bleeding from my cheeks.
“You rascal!” I yelled, embarrassed and furious. I shoved her out of my room. “You can’t do that again!”
I slammed the door and locked it, but didn’t hear a reply from her.
My phone screen lit up. I unlocked it.
It was a WeChat message.
A message from Si Jingnian.
Si Jingnian: I was wrong.
Si Jingnian: But I’ll dare again next time.
……….
Where on earth did she learn these kinds of flirtatious lines?
Who taught her? She totally ruined her image!
I sent her a sticker of a gangster beating someone up.
I put my phone aside and touched my lips where she had kissed me. My heart was beating so loud I could actually hear it.
Her lips were really sweet.
