Gu Hupo was stunned, and almost petrified on the spot. For a moment, she couldn’t even speak, “You…you you you…”

Even Ju Yan, who was usually gentle and calm, had a frozen expression for a moment.

“Xiao Fei, you…” Ju Yan took two deep breaths before slowly calming down, “So what is your relationship with Qing-Qing now?”

Gu Fei said timidly, “Just, just ordinary friends?”

Ju Yan didn’t say anything, but her expression darkened a little.

Gu Fei’s voice grew even weaker, “Best friends?”

“……sisters?”

“Family?”

Gu Fei buried her head lower and lower.

Ju Yan still didn’t make a sound, but Gu Hupo, standing behind her, suddenly jumped up and pointed at Gu Fei’s nose, “Zai-Zai! You’ve already had that kind of relationship with Qing-Qing, how can you still call it just being friends? And to even say things like sisters or family, how could you! You’ve got no sense of responsibility as an alpha at all! You’re just taking advantage of Qing-Qing’s good temper and bullying her, aren’t you!”

Gu Fei lifted her head and met Gu Hupo’s furious gaze, and asked blankly, “What…that kind of relationship?”

“You didn’t do that kind of thing with Qing-Qing?” Gu Hupo asked sharply.

Even Gu Fei, as slow-witted as she was, understood what Gu Hupo was referring to once she connected it with what had been said earlier.

Gu Fei’s cheeks instantly flushed bright red, and she shook her head hard, “No! How could I possibly have anything like that with Gu Qingqing——! Gu Hupo, just what on earth is going on in your head?!”

“Eh…?” Gu Hupo was startled, “Then when I just asked if you’d take advantage of Qing-Qing, what were you blushing for?”

“I—I’d been drinking at the time, and it was during my susceptible period, so I did bite Qingqing a few times, but how could something like that possibly have happened!” Gu Fei lifted her head aggrievedly.

“Bit her a few times…” Gu Huo and Ju Yan realized they had misunderstood, and finally let out a sigh of relief.

Indeed, before Gu Fei reached adulthood, every time she entered her susceptible period, whenever she wasn’t fully clear-headed, she would end up hitting and biting Gu Hupo, leaving her, as the “old mother,” both exasperated and amused.

“Xiao Fei, then you really don’t…mm, have those kinds of feelings between lovers for Qing-Qing?” Ju Yan asked carefully.

Gu Fei shook her head decisively, “No!”

Ju Yan: “But then, why do you have to sleep with Qing-Qing every night? Xiao Fei, won’t you tell Mommy the reason?”

Gu Fei frowned, “Because Qing-Qing is afraid of the dark!”

“Afraid of the dark? Qing-Qing grew up in the countryside, how could she possibly be afraid of the dark?” Gu Hupo asked.

Gu Fei glared at her rudely and did not answer.

Hearing Gu Hupo ask that, she felt a little angry. As Gu Qingqing’s biological Alpha mother, Gu Hupo, didn’t understand her past at all, she was completely irresponsible.

Although Gu Fei knew that Gu Hupo had always been careless and straightforward by nature, and that her way of treating her was more pampering than attentive, she still couldn’t help but feel angry at this moment.

The room fell silent for a moment. Ju Yan first lifted her head to give Gu Hupo a look, then took Gu Fei’s hand and said gently, “Mm, we understand now. Just now we misunderstood your relationship with Qing-Qing. I’m sorry, Mommy wants to sincerely apologize to you, alright?”

Gu Fei kept her head lowered and gave a small nod.

With her other hand, Ju Yan tugged at Gu Hupo, and she immediately lowered her head as well, “Zai-Zai, Mom was wrong. I’m sorry.”

Gu Fei snorted lightly.

Ju Yan rubbed her head and went on, “Xiao Fei, it’s really wonderful that you’re willing to stay by Qing-Qing’s side. But you’re both big kids now, and you’re not the same gender. If one day you find someone you like, whether that person is Qing-Qing or not, you should have a proper talk with her, and then stop sleeping with her, alright?”

“I don’t have anyone I like yet…” Gu Fei whispered.

“So mommy is talking about the future.” Ju Yan said gently.

Gu Fei nodded slowly, “…okay.”

Ju Yan rubbed her head again, then left together with Gu Hupo.

When the door closed, Gu Fei sat alone where she was, covering her increasingly hot cheeks, and almost collapsed onto the desk.

Like…? Gu Qingqing?

Before her two mothers said those words, Gu Fei had never thought about that kind of thing at all. But now, the moment she thought of the word “like,” the moment she thought of Gu Qingqing’s name, her heart pounded like crazy, and her cheeks burned hotter and hotter.

Does she really like Gu Qingqing?

No, no, no, how could that be possible! She was an alpha, she was supposed to be attracted to omega pheromones. There was absolutely no way she could have those kinds of offensive thoughts about Gu Qingqing! As for why her face was red and her heart was racing, it had to be because her two mothers had misunderstood her, so of course she felt upset.

Gu Fei walked into the bathroom and splashed her face with cold water. Only after a long while did the flush on her cheeks finally fade.

Gu Fei originally thought that the matter was over, but she didn’t expect that she would have an extremely shameful dream that night.

…

…

…

In her dream, Gu Fei and Gu Qingqing were at school. The classroom was completely empty, with only the two of them inside.

“Gu Qingqing, I like you!” Gu Fei aggressively cornered Gu Qingqing, rising on her tiptoes and bracing an arm against the wall, trapping her in a kabedon.

Gu Qingqing blinked in shock, tears welling in her eyes as her rims turned red in helpless confusion.

Gu Fei grabbed her chin fiercely, “I like you, so you have to be with me!”

Gu Qingqing’s expression was still pitiful and bewildered, yet she closed her eyes, as if waiting for her to come closer.

Gu Fei inched closer bit by bit, their breaths mingling, youthful and sweet, like lime-mint ice cream with a base of light cream.

The perspective in the dream was absurd, shifting constantly. Soon the scene changed from the classroom to their home, where they clung tightly to each other on the sofa. Beyond tasting each other’s breath, Gu Fei also reached out to rub and caress her.

So soft.

Then the scene shifted to Gu Qingqing’s room. Gu Fei gently bit the back of her neck, just like what she had seen a few days ago in the educational film at the ABO museum.

Gu Qingqing lay there, soft whimpers of grievance escaping her throat, lilting almost like a song. Her hands were pinned behind her by the Alpha, struggling helplessly. Once again, Gu Fei bit down on the back of her neck, injecting her pheromones…

Wait a minute!

Gu Qingqing was an ordinary person, she had no gland on the back of her neck, it was impossible for her to receive pheromones! Gu Fei suddenly realized.

She hurriedly sat up, realizing it had all just been a dream.

The cat plush in her arms had been squeezed out of shape, and there were even obvious traces of her drool on it.

And beside her, Gu Qingqing was asleep, gently wrapping an arm around her waist through the quilt.

Recalling everything from the dream, Gu Fei felt an itchy, soft sensation at her waist, as though a warm current mixed with electricity was coursing chaotically through her body. She swallowed hard, her body growing more and more rigid.

It was still nighttime, if she tried to slip away now, Gu Qingqing would definitely notice.

Gu Fei tried moving ever so slightly, and sure enough, Gu Qingqing murmured in her sleep, tightening her embrace. In a faint voice, she whispered, “Don’t go…”

Gu Fei stopped moving and slowly shrank back into the quilt.

Gu Qingqing loosened her hold as well and shifted further toward the inside of the bed.

Gu Fei turned onto her side, back facing Gu Qingqing. One hand pressed over her still-racing heart, her eyes filled with panic.

In the dream, she had nearly marked Gu Qingqing. No, if Gu Qingqing had been an Omega, then by now she would already belong to her. Even now, the room was still filled with the lingering trace of her own pheromones. Gu Fei could smell it clearly, the sharp, almost stinging note of possession.

Pheromones couldn’t lie. They told Gu Fei what she herself dared not admit, that she wanted to claim Gu Qingqing, to see her weep softly because of her, just like in the dream.

Gu Fei lay awake, eyes wide open, clutching the bedsheet tightly all through the night.

The glands at the back of her neck itched all through the night as well.

At first light, Gu Fei hugged her cat plush and quickly slipped back into her own room.

Gu Fei slept in to make up for the morning, and in the afternoon she stayed in her room playing games, not looking for Gu Qingqing at all. After nine in the evening, a knock sounded at the door. Gu Fei shivered and immediately buried her head in the blankets, trying to avoid it.

“Gu Fei?” Gu Qingqing’s soft voice sounded.

Gu Fei hid in the quilt and did not answer.

“Baby Fei?”

Gu Fei blushed, but still did not move.

“I came in…?”

Gu Fei: “……!” She’d forgotten to lock the door!

It was too late to lock the door now, so Gu Fei could only keep pretending to sleep.

With a “click,” the door opened. Gu Qingqing’s light, delicate footsteps grew closer, finally stopping at the side of the bed.

Gu Fei unconsciously clutched the bed sheet tightly.

After a few quiet seconds in the room, Gu Fei felt Gu Qingqing’s hand sliding under the sheets, eventually grasping the back of her hand. Gu Fei’s fingers clutched the sheet so tightly, it was obvious she was pretending to sleep.

Gu Qingqing let out a faint sigh, saying nothing, simply continuing to hold her hand. Her slightly cool fingers brushed against hers gently.

After a while, Gu Qingqing lifted the blanket slightly, as if she wanted to crawl further into the covers.

Gu Fei could no longer keep up the act. She jerked upright, shivering, and exclaimed, “Gu Qingqing, w-what are you doing?!”

“I thought you were sick…” Gu Qingqing looked innocent, the corners of her lips curling into a faint smile. “So I wanted to lift the blanket and take a look.”

“I’m not sick.” Gu Fei muttered and shrank into the bed.

“Gu Fei, why do you look so listless today? You even pretended to be asleep just now and wouldn’t pay attention to me.” Gu Qingqing’s voice was light and cheerful, her face still carrying a faint smile, yet Gu Fei could hear the trace of cautiousness behind it.

“I…I didn’t.” Gu Fei didn’t know what to say.

Gu Qingqing didn’t press further. Leaning forward, her fingers brushed through her hair as she softly said, “It’s already past nine. Shall we go over and sleep?”

Gu Fei bit her lower lip tightly.

Sensing something, Gu Qingqing’s fingertips that had been stroking her hair froze for a moment.

“Gu Qingqing,” Gu Fei said slowly, almost word by word, “From today on, let’s sleep separately.”

“Gu Fei?” Gu Qingqing leaned over and looked at her, a hint of panic clearly flashing in her dark eyes, and her expression became pitiful.

But Gu Fei suddenly remembered, in last night’s dream, Gu Qingqing had worn the very same expression.

Gu Fei suddenly averted her gaze, “Gu Qingqing, you’re afraid of the dark…but there are some things that could hurt you even more than that. I’m an adult Alpha, I’m…I’m dangerous, and you know that.”

Gu Fei couldn’t see Gu Qingqing’s expression, but she could feel it, the way Gu Qingqing reached out to clasp her fingers, tugging at them gently, almost pleadingly.

Gu Fei didn’t respond to Gu Qingqing’s silent plea. Hardening her resolve, she said, “Anyway, we can’t sleep in the same bed anymore. I’ll order another one to put in the big guest room next to your room, or maybe just get a double bed…if you’re scared, I’ll still stay with you, but we can’t share a bed. Until the new bed is ready, we’ll each sleep on our own.”

Gu Qingqing still said nothing. She didn’t ask what had happened, nor why they suddenly had to sleep in separate rooms, and she didn’t beg her either.

Gu Fei whispered, “Be obedient…Gu Qingqing.”

“Mm, I’ll behave.” After a moment of silence, Gu Qingqing obediently nodded. Then she leaned forward again, resting her head against Gu Fei’s chest.

Gu Fei reached out and gently patted her back, wordlessly offering comfort.

After Gu Qingqing returned to her own room, Gu Fei sat in a daze for a long time. Then she took out her phone and ordered a starry sky lamp. That way, even if one day in the future she was no longer there to sleep in the same room with Gu Qingqing, the girl could still fall asleep with the starry lamp on, and the light would cause her body a little less harm.

Gu Fei dazed out for a while longer, her fingers unconsciously tapping open WeChat and pulling up her chat with Gu Qingqing.

She and Gu Qingqing had spent the whole day together, so they actually hadn’t used WeChat much. The last message in their chat history was still that photo Gu Qingqing had sent two days ago.

Scrolling further up, it was all the trivial “Good night,” “Sleep early,” and “Sweet dreams.”

Gu Fei scrolled for a while, then typed the two words “Good night” into the message box.

Gu Qingqing replied in seconds: [Goodnight.jpg]

Gu Fei stared at the cute cat sticker for a while, then tapped open Gu Qingqing’s Moments and looked at that snowman photo. A few seconds later, she opened her own Moments and set that photo as her background.

Gu Fei tossed and turned until midnight, unable to fall asleep. As if compelled by some unseen force, she quietly pushed the door open a crack and glanced inside, only to see the glow of light seeping through the gap of Gu Qingqing’s door. She closed it again and retreated back.

“Agh…” Gu Fei let out a pained groan, clutching her head, then once again pulled out her phone and opened her chat with Xi Wan.

Gu Fei typed out several lines, her finger hovering over the send button, but in the end, she deleted everything and exited the WeChat screen.

That night, Gu Fei did not sleep all night.

The next night, Gu Fei once again lay awake until late, unable to sleep no matter how exhausted she was, her head aching terribly. Around two in the morning, she quietly got out of bed, opened the door, and glanced at the sliver of light seeping from under Gu Qingqing’s door. She stood there in a daze for a while before returning to bed and trying once more to fall asleep.

But still, she couldn’t fall asleep.

Gu Fei’s head hurt so much that she nearly whimpered in tears.

Suddenly, there were faint footsteps outside the door.

Gu Fei froze for a moment, then curled herself up into a ball, shifting to the inside of the bed with her back facing outward.

Footsteps stopped at the doorway, followed by the faint sound of the door being pushed open. That person walked in softly, then turned to close the door again without locking it.

In her tense state, Gu Fei’s sense of smell was unusually sharp. Almost the instant the door opened, she caught the light fragrance from Gu Qingqing’s body. Gu Fei closed her eyes, her breathing quickening involuntarily.

Gu Qingqing sat down by the bedside, then carefully slipped into her covers. Gently, she wrapped her arms around her from behind, pulling her into an embrace.

Both of them were in their pajamas, with not even the blanket between them. Their body heat instantly melded together, filling the bed with a gentle warmth.

Gu Fei’s breathing became rapid, then gradually calmed down.

They hugged each other, no one spoke, and soon fell asleep together.

That night, Gu Fei slept deeply, without any strange dreams, and without waking in the morning to a splitting headache. She felt as comfortable as if, after days of exhaustion, she had soaked in a blissful hot spring bath.

The early morning sun shines in through the window.

Gu Fei slept soundly, and the moment she opened her eyes, she was met with Gu Qingqing’s clear gaze.

Even after the whole night had passed, they were still in each other’s arms. Gu Fei’s hand rested around Gu Qingqing’s slender waist, her fingers brushing against the soft fabric of her pajamas. Their cheeks were close, and their gentle, shallow breaths brushed across one another’s face.

It tickled.

“Good morning, Gu Fei.” Gu Qingqing blinked, her eyes clear and with a smile in them.

The sunlight shone on her face, warm and soft.

There was not the slightest hint of ambiguity or romance.

Gu Fei parted her lips slightly, “…good morning.”

Gu Qingqing smiled, supported herself on the bed with her hands, sat up lazily, and stretched out her body.

Gu Fei gazed at her silhouette in the sunlight, her slightly tousled long hair shimmering faintly. The corners of Gu Fei’s lips curved up as well. Unable to resist, she reached out, caught a handful of Gu Qingqing’s hair, and gently toyed with it.

Gu Qingqing turned around and smiled at her, “Gu Fei, can I come over to sleep with you tonight?”

Gu Qingqing’s smile was beautiful, her voice was soft, and the atmosphere in the room was just right. Gu Fei almost nodded.

Still, she shook her head.

Gu Qingqing lay back down, turning on her side to face her, and softly said, “Actually, Gu Fei…I’ve realized that after sleeping with you by my side for these past six months, I’m not really that afraid of the dark anymore. But last night and the night before, I couldn’t sleep.”

“So, Gu Fei, Baby Fei, is that okay?”

Gu Fei bit her lip and looked hesitant.

Seizing the chance, Gu Qingqing tugged at her sleeve, shaking it playfully like a spoiled child.

“Y-you should go back to your own room first.” Gu Fei thought for a moment. “Give me a day to think about it, I’ll give you an answer tonight.”

Gu Qingqing’s eyes lit up slightly, and she nodded at her with a gentle smile.

This smile almost melted Gu Fei’s heart.

After Gu Qingqing left, Gu Fei lay sprawled on the bed for a long while to calm herself. In the end, she took out her phone and searched: [How does an Alpha confirm whether they like someone?]

The search results were all over the place, things like “If an Alpha likes someone’s pheromones, of course that means they like the person,” or “Just see if your body reacts, then you’ll know.” Most of them weren’t very useful, and mixed in were a few dirty jokes that made Gu Fei’s face flush red.

After a few more random searches turned up nothing she wanted, Gu Fei opened an anonymous forum exclusively for Alphas. She entered her information and logged in. Xi Wan had helped her register back when she had just differentiated, saying that the forum was full of Alphas and completely anonymous, a place where she could ask anything she didn’t understand about her gender.

After browsing through a few posts, Gu Fei thought for a moment before making one herself: [Excuse me, how do you tell if you like an ordinary person? qwq]

Post content: [I’ve never liked anyone else before, nor have I ever been drawn to the scent of any other Omega’s pheromones. But a few days ago, I dreamed that I marked an ordinary person. She…she’s technically my distant cousin, and we sleep together every night, so I’m a little afraid that maybe I like her.]

Gu Fei waited for a while, and soon someone replied.

[I know this one! I’ve had that kind of dream too. But hey, we’re all Alphas, right? No—actually, it’s not just Alphas. I’ve heard people of other genders also have spring dreams at night, sometimes even about complete strangers. It’s totally normal to vent in dreams, so don’t overthink it, OP. As long as you don’t actually do anything in real life, it’s fine.]

But still feeling conflicted, she typed: [But I’ve never liked an Omega before, so I’m a little worried there might be something wrong with my orientation.]

Someone immediately asked: [OP, how old are you? Did you just differentiate not long ago?]

Gu Fei typed: [Eighteen, it’s been three years since I differentiated qwq]

[Then you’re still young. At your age, it’s perfectly normal not to have liked any Omegas yet, so don’t overthink it. You’re still developing and growing, so having spring dreams isn’t unusual.]

[Exactly! And OP, in your dream you were marking that ordinary person, right? That just means your subconscious treated her as an Omega in the dream, which shows you like Omegas. The “her” in the dream isn’t the real-life her at all. Kiddo don’t overthink it and scare yourself.]

[Even if you end up liking an ordinary person, not being attracted to Omegas these days isn’t anything to be ashamed of. You don’t need to worry about it, OP.]

[I actually have an idea. OP, if you’re really worried about your orientation, why not check out some AO videos? If you have a reaction, wouldn’t that show you’re attracted to Omegas?]

[I think OP is attracted to Omegas; it’s just that you’re still young and don’t fully understand yet. I suggest giving your glands a massage to release the accumulated pheromones, so you don’t end up having dreams like this. Adult Alphas have stronger physiological responses than other genders, it’s normal. If you haven’t found someone you like yet, just take care of yourself from time to time.]

Gu Fei blinked in a daze, her fingers unconsciously touching the glands at the back of her neck. So the reason she had those kinds of dreams wasn’t because she liked Gu Qingqing, it was because she had never massaged them before, and…they got pent up?

That made sense. She vaguely remembered Xi Wan mentioning that Alphas, especially adult Alphas, do need massages to relieve that kind of desire. Gu Hupo had even bought her some massage tools, which were just sitting in a drawer. But Gu Fei had never had that sort of thought before, so she’d never used them.

While Gu Fei was lost in thought, her phone kept buzzing nonstop. The Alphas on the forum had replied to several more threads. Some recommending gland massage tools, others enthusiastically teaching her massage techniques, and a few even sharing links to AO videos.

Gu Fei’s hand trembled.

Hmm…she definitely wasn’t going to watch AO videos, but she could try giving herself a massage.

Gu Fei pulled open the drawer and took out the small box Gu Hupo had bought earlier. Inside were cotton massage wipes and a bottle of scentless pseudo-pheromone spray, which could stimulate the glands’ secretion.

Gu Fei propped up her phone and, following the massage tutorial from the forum, sprayed the pseudo-pheromone mist onto the back of her neck and the cotton wipe. She then covered her glands with the wipe and gently rubbed and kneaded them.

The back of her neck instantly felt cool and refreshing. It was indeed very comfortable. Pheromones surged out in abundance, drifting into the air.

“Awoo——” Gu Fei stretched comfortably, sprawled across the desk, her eyes half-closed, completely languid.

Gu Fei stretched out and didn’t notice the door being pushed open. It wasn’t until the faint footsteps gradually approached that she suddenly realized someone had come in. One hand continued pressing, while the other instinctively pulled back, her fingers accidentally brushing the phone screen, and just like that, she tapped into the AO video recommended to her on the forum.

“I…” At the door, Gu Qingqing stood there in a daze.

The author has something to say:

Hahaha, Gu Fei is about to be caught!
