“Hehe…” The system’s obnoxious voice chimed in again, “The higher the score, the harder the task. I don’t believe you can bluff your way through this one, Host! So come on, follow the original plot, go isolate Gu Qingqing already!”

This time, however, Gu Fei didn’t access the original novel. Instead, she asked seriously, “Where is Gu Qingqing right now?”

The system quickly brought up a high-tech live broadcast map.

According to the location of the red dot, Gu Qingqing was now in the classroom. After Gu Fei clicked on it, she immediately saw Gu Qingqing’s current situation——

Gu Qingqing sat in the last row by the window, looking down at her book and doing exercises. Moving the view forward, three ruffian-like alpha girls were standing outside the classroom, muttering maliciously,

“Sister Wei, that country bumpkin illegitimate daughter is in the classroom. What should we do? The classroom during PE is usually your turf.”

“A country bumpkin will always be a country bumpkin. You think skipping PE and hiding alone in the classroom to study is going to magically improve your grades? Pfft.”

“Go? Let’s go teach her a lesson.”

“She wants to study, doesn’t she? Then let’s drag her to the bathroom and let her study all she wants there.”

Gu Fei didn’t look any further, fury slowly surfacing in her eyes.

“Gu Fei! Your pheromones have leaked again——!” Xi Wan coughed violently a few times and took a few steps back.

 “I just remembered I’ve got something to do—I’ll take you to meet my sister next time!” Gu Fei glanced back at her, then quickly rushed toward the school building.

“Eh——?” Xi Wan looked at her back and scratched his head in confusion.

After running up to the fourth floor, Gu Fei steadied herself against the wall to catch her breath, then strode toward Gu Qingqing’s classroom. She hadn’t even reached the door when a strong scent of pheromones hit her—most likely coming from that Sister Wei.

It smells like durian.

Gu Fei frowned in disgust and made no effort to suppress the release of pheromones from her glands, letting her own faintly fragrant scent spread through the air.

The back door of Gu Qingqing’s classroom was open, and with just one glance, Gu Fei saw three burly Alpha students surrounding Gu Qingqing’s desk, spewing all kinds of filthy words. The stench of durian in the air was growing stronger and stronger.

Only someone like Sister Wei, a delinquent student, would so brazenly release her pheromones at school, treating the classroom as her own territory without the slightest regard for how much discomfort it caused others.

In the classroom, Sister Wei and the other two were confronting Gu Qingqing.

Gu Qingqing looked up at them, her expression calm and indifferent, without the slightest ripple of emotion. Beneath the lenses of her glasses, her eyes revealed no reaction. No matter how much they cursed at her, she simply continued to gaze at them with that same quiet detachment.

It wasn’t until Sister Wei couldn’t help but smash Gu Qingqing’s table that her expression changed slightly.

Gu Qingqing glanced at the camera on the blackboard. Once she was sure the surveillance couldn’t catch her, she quietly tightened her grip on the thick Chinese textbook.

Sister Wei raised her hand in the air, and suddenly stopped in an extremely strange position. She smelled a fragrance that she couldn’t describe, followed by a terrifying sense of oppression. The intensity of this pheromone was far beyond anything she could resist.

The other two girls had already been struggling under the pressure of Sister Wei’s pheromones. Now, with a new surge of high-concentration pheromones flooding the room, their legs buckled in fear and they collapsed to the floor on the spot.

Gu Qingqing put down the book without leaving a trace and subconsciously looked towards the back door of the classroom.

Light poured in through the open door.

Gu Fei walked out from the light.

Gu Fei’s petite body was shaking with fury, her cheeks flushed a deep red with anger. She strode quickly to Gu Qingqing and reached out, firmly shielding her behind her back.

“Gu Qingqing is under my protection! You’ll be dead if you dare to get close to her!” Gu Fei snarled as she pointed fiercely at Sister Wei. At that moment, she didn’t look like a puffed-up kitten, she was more like a furious little leopard.

“Sister Fei…!”

“Sister Fei, we were wrong, w-we didn’t know… didn’t know she was your person…”

“Let’s get out of here now!”

Sister Wei and the other two shivered for a moment and almost crawled out of the classroom, not daring to stay under her pheromones for another minute.

Gu Qingqing looked at Gu Fei’s back with a confused look in her eyes.

Apart from Gu Yuan, this was the first time someone had protected her from behind. At this moment, she felt like she was bathed in warm light, and every cell in her body was warm.

Gu Qingqing instinctively reached out, wanting to grab the hem of Gu Fei’s clothes, or even wanting to hug her waist, to get closer to her……to this ray of light.

Gu Fei suddenly turned around and grabbed her wrist tightly. Though Gu Fei wasn’t very strong and Gu Qingqing didn’t feel any pain, her voice was fierce, very fierce, “If you dare make friends with those shady people, I’ll tell our moms!”

Gu Qingqing was stunned for a moment, then chuckled, “Ng, I’ll listen to you.”

As soon as Gu Qingqing finished speaking, Gu Fei heard the “Task Completed” notification sound, followed by the system’s utterly bewildered wail. Gu Fei ignored it, after a few howls, it vanished on its own.

But when Gu Fei looked at Gu Qingqing, she still felt depressed.

Gu Qingqing didn’t do well on the exam, got bullied in class, and maybe even had other unpleasant things happen to her…if it weren’t for this coincidental task, Gu Fei would’ve remained completely in the dark.

And, she- she clearly said that she could help Gu Qingqing with her homework, but Gu Qingqing didn’t tell her and secretly hid in the classroom to read during PE class. Wu……maybe she was also reading when she left the lights on at night.

What’s up with Gu Qingqing? She never tells her anything. They’ve known each other for so many days now, maybe they’re not quite family yet, but at the very least, they should be friends by now!

The more Gu Fei thought about it, the more upset she felt.  She was angry and aggrieved, and her eyes became resentful as she stared at Gu Qingqing. Without saying a word, she pulled away the empty stool next to Gu Qingqing, sat on it, and lay on the table pretending to sleep.

Gu Qingqing poked her shoulder, leaned over and whispered, “Gu Fei, thank you for what you did just now.”

A warm breath fell gently on Gu Fei’s gland. Although it didn’t carry the stimulating scent of an Omega’s pheromones, it was still enough to make her sensitive gland tremble slightly. The tingling sensation spread from the back of her neck, leaving her whole body feeling a little numb, a little itchy.

“What are you doing…!” Gu Fei turned her head in irritation, only to open her eyes and find herself staring straight into Gu Qingqing’s deep, dark eyes, just inches away.

Gu Fei’s voice suddenly softened.

Frustration and grievance swirled in her chest, stuck there, neither rising nor fading.

After a few seconds of eye contact, Gu Fei awkwardly looked away and shrank back a little, muttering softly, “Gu Qingqing, if someone’s bullying you in class, you can tell me, tell your moms, or report it to the teacher. It’s all okay. Umm…even though people say telling adults is childish, sometimes the things we can’t handle at our age really are simple for them. So, Gu Qingqing, don’t think it’s shameful.”

“And also, like I said, my grades are actually pretty good, so if you need help, I can tutor you.”
