Dimension Wave - Chapter 40
The Pioneering Begins
「I’ve decided…」
Some time had passed since I drifted onto this island, Kalmira Island.
At first, I ignored the so-called Pioneer’s Seven Tools, the relief items for pioneers…although the drill got me a bit excited――I ignored it, and tried to find a way to escape from the island.
First, I acquired the Helmsmanship skill and went out to sea from the southern beach with a wooden boat…but ended up on the northern side.
It was a situation like in old RPGs where if you go south, you end up north.
I don’t know if the boat was just sent back because it was small, or if this island simply works that way.
After trying various things, in the end I still haven’t been able to escape from the island.
Anyway, I am currently trapped on Karmira Island.
However, I have a reassuring companion.
I bet on the possibility that the others would find me…but a week has already passed.
Of course, it’s not that I don’t believe them.
My relationship with Shouko is only about a month old, but she’s not the type to betray anyone.
I think she’s looking for me by now, but I don’t think this island is so easy to find.
After all, a week has already passed.
I leisurely fished repeatedly, raising my fishing and cooking skills to the max.
I also spent all day converting the caught squid and fish into energy.
And I had decided to do something if the others’ rescue was delayed for more than a week.
That is…

By changing skills that are unnecessary outside of the island to unacquired, convert them into mana.
This has increased the number of skills that can be acquired and the amount of energy produced.
…Though maybe I should have kept Naval Combat.
Originally having dismantling weapons and fishing, the skills were close to pioneering, so it was fortunate in a sense.
In any case, since Naval Combat was level V, deleting it would free up a decent amount of energy to allocate elsewhere.
I’ve decided to practice a pioneering lifestyle to survive…no, to thrive until I’m rescued.
The truth is, I just really love this kind of thing!
Sorry everyone, the time limit has passed.
Kukku… I’ll suck this island dry to the bone.
So having decided, the first thing I went for was the sickle.
Not the weapon equipment that Tsumugi used, but the lifestyle equipment like the fishing rod.
In other words, to remove overgrown weeds that are in the way.
Its performance is neither good nor bad, just average as a relief item, but there is a level section in the item description.
Apparently, these Pioneer’s Seven Tools can only be used on this island, Kalmira Island.
In other words, the item ranks have changed to a leveling system, but only limited to this island.
Stuff like this really gets me fired up.
Alright everyone, let’s have a contest to see if my Pioneer’s Seven Tools will reach MAX level first, or if you all come to rescue me first. While spouting such nonsense in my mind, I went around cutting weeds with the sickle.
「I thought this in another game too, but with this kind of handling, it’s natural for weeds to start growing.」
But pulling them out by hand is inefficient, at least the roots are being removed.
I’ll just accept this as a quirk of the game world’s mysterious space.
Still, in reality I’m often made to help clean graves every year, but in the game my body doesn’t get tired.
No matter how much I swing the sickle around, I don’t get tired, so I can cut at a speed many times faster than reality.
However, it’s also a bad idea to focus too much on just weeds.
There are only 24 hours in a day.
And sleepiness also comes, so realistically I can only spend about 18 hours pioneering without overdoing it. Once it gets to that point, there are limits to what actions I can take.
Considering time for meals and such, I can’t use the full 18 hours.
…But if I think about it like this, I won’t be able to do anything.
For now, I’ll repeatedly do pioneering work in the areas I can see, and if I find a more efficient method, I’ll shift to that.
Next is the hoe.
With the limited land where I cut the weeds with the sickle, I can only till a very small field area.
No, I don’t mean anything by that.
Anyway, I don’t have a mastery skill so I’ll spend time tilling it since I don’t get tired.
I don’t know how much it’s reproducing, but I could smell the soil.
When using the sickle, I smelled grass, so the system itself may be reused.
「…I don’t have any seeds.」
I realized this after finishing tilling the field.
It’s a ridiculous situation. Wake up, me…
「Oh?」
In the section for the hoe of the Pioneer’s Seven Tools, I could select seeds.
There’s only one kind, but…
For now, I’ll just plant these.
I divided the seeds into reasonable sections to plant, and watered them with the bucket of water I brought from the well near the ruins.
Well, after this I’ll just need to remove weeds with the sickle every day while waiting for the crops to bear fruit.
I don’t know how many days it will take, but surely not a month.
Otherwise, the farming skills would be useless.
Now, the work I did to start only took four hours.
The axe is not a weapon axe for battle, but a woodcutting axe.
This island is overgrown with trees like a forest, but can I just indiscriminately chop them down?
For the same reason, the hammer falls under the category of destructive weapons.
Originally, it was a derivative weapon of the dismantling weapon, but it exists to create weak points on monster parts or destructible objects, or to remove obstructions.
Due to its performance, effects, and party composition, I kept it as a dismantling weapon, but since it’s included among the Pioneer’s Seven Tools, there must be situations where it’s used.
Also, upon checking, the drill is also categorized as a destructive weapon.
After all, a skill was unlocked when I got overly excited about it a week ago.
…But I couldn’t obtain it.
A red line connects it from the destructive weapon category in the skill slot. So it’s probably a weapon that will be unlocked in something like the Dimension Wave second wave.
…Come to think of it, I vaguely remember telling Alto nonsense about how the sea route wasn’t the original route.
The diary of Count Havenburgh also mentioned something about international relations and so on.
Though I’m drifting, I can guess that this island holds some kind of secret.
Let’s get back on track.
The drill can dig through walls, rocks, and make holes.
And there are places all over Karmira Island that seem to require making paths with a drill.
It was probably originally a place to visit when drills existed as weapons.
In any case, the axe, hammer, and drill can wait.
For now, I want to create a livable foundation, so to speak.
In that case, it really does seem like the basics are using the sickle to remove weeds, tilling with the hoe, and planting seeds.
By the way, I haven’t found any need for the fishing rod and rope yet.
The rope implies there may be places to move between, but what about the fishing rod?
Food? But if crops bear fruit, I should be able to live off that.
There were wild animals in the forest that only seemed to have the trait of being fast runners for meat.
Then, why is the fishing rod included as an essential tool?
Well, personally I’m happy about it.
Its performance is inferior to the fishing rod I currently have, but it comes with an infinite supply of cheap bait.
Of course, free bait can only be used with the Pioneer’s Seven Tools fishing rod.
Thanks to that, I’m not having any trouble fishing.
Well… I’ll figure it out as I keep pioneering.
Anyway, I’ll till the vacant land first, then chop down some trees with the axe.
Of course, create a certain area first.
Once that’s done, I’ll use the drill to make paths to places I clearly need to go.
I looked up at the interior of the island.
A relatively large building that looked like the remains of a mansion could be seen.
