    Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

“Pfft, what are you thanking me for? I’m very happy, really.” Finally, she had a relative connected to her by blood. This made her feel even more rooted in this world.

“In the future, when the child is born, if it’s a girl, I hope she’ll be as strong as you. If it’s a boy, I hope he’ll be gentle and kind, so he can marry a good wife.” Gu Tingshu’s eyes sparkled as he spoke.

“Son marrying? Why marry? My son can just bring one home directly in the future,” Zhao Xian raised an eyebrow and said.

“…” Gu Tingshu was stunned by this, “My wife’s thoughts are really different.”

“Haha…” Zhao Xian looked at Gu Tingshu’s astonished expression and happily reached out to hug him. “Husband, has anyone ever told you how cute you are like this?”

“…” Gu Tingshu smiled without saying a word, just holding her waist tightly.

Zhao Xian closed her eyes, quietly savoring the happiness of this moment. She felt that her current days were very good, and now she only wished for peaceful years and harmony between husband and wife.

A year later, Zhao Xian gave birth to a son named Zhao Qingyun, which naturally meant reaching the sky in a single leap. Upon hearing this, the young Empress felt even more that Zhao Xian was eyeing her throne. In fact, Zhao Xian never cared about her throne; she only loved her son dearly.

Every time Zhao Xian finished court and saw Gu Tingshu holding their child, she became completely soft-hearted. Her thoughts were simple: she just wanted to live peacefully with her family for the rest of her life. But beautiful thoughts never quite matched reality.

    …

Such a peaceful life did not last long. The young Empress and Xue Tong started making trouble.

A year later, Empress Feng You could no longer tolerate the fear and began to fight back, staging a play of inviting the enemy into the urn. Zhao Xian looked at the letter in her hand, anger flashing in her eyes. She slammed her hand down on the stone table, instantly shattering it.

“Young Empress, Xue Tong, you shameless individuals are really quite capable. If anything happens to my son or my husband, I’ll make sure you all accompany them to the grave.” Zhao Xian took a deep breath and coldly continued, “You’re openly forcing me to rebel.”

Although she didn’t care at all about the throne, she couldn’t afford to ignore the safety of her family.

The letter was straightforward: her husband had been tied to a cliff by Xue Tong and his former lover, Princess Jin, and they demanded that she come alone.

It seemed everything had been carefully calculated by the young Empress. If she were eliminated, she would naturally reap the benefits. As for Xue Tong’s fate, in her view, while love was good, power was even more enticing.

    …

Zhao Xian mounted her horse and boldly rode out of the city alone, urging her horse swiftly to the cliffs of Wangduan Mountain. From afar, she saw Princess Jin and a man in white standing there, surrounded by a group of women dressed in black. Facing their arrows, Zhao Xian walked calmly forward.

    “Sob… Sob…”

In just one glance, she noticed the child Princess Jin was holding. At that moment, Zhao Xian’s heart tightened.

Zhao Xian clenched her fists and said coldly, “Now that I’m here, you can release my husband and my child.” Her expression was indifferent, but only she knew her fear at this moment.

Princess Jin looked at Zhao Xian and sneered, “Zhao Xian, I didn’t expect to see you in my grasp one day. I’ve long been tired of your high-handed ways. Clearly, I am of royal blood, yet you control the entire imperial capital and even the court single-handedly. I’ve had enough of that life. Today, it’s either you die or I perish.”

Listening to Princess Jin’s voice, Zhao Xian coldly glanced at the man beside her, realizing she was indeed a woman blinded by love.

    Storyteller Valeraverucaviolet's Words

A lot of time skips. The story's progressing fast now. Too fast I think. It's just blazing through without any set up. Me thinks the author is in too much of a rush.
