Chapter 58 Jealousy
“Are you in pain?” Gu Tingshu can’t help but ask, glancing at her chest where the bandage is still faintly visible and blood seeps through.
“Do I hurt?” Zhao Xian looks at him, then motions with her hand. “Come closer, and I’ll tell you…”
Gu Tingshu hesitates but leans in closer. However, as soon as he gets close enough, he freezes in place.
Zhao Xian goes directly to his cheek and takes a bite. Gu Tingshu looks at her in shock. As she bites him, he suddenly feels his face burning fiercely.
Seeing him dazed, Zhao Xian chuckles. “Does it hurt?”
Gu Tingshu subconsciously touches his face and nods.
“Then tell me if I hurt.” Zhao Xian smirks playfully at him.
Gu Tingshu instantly sits up straight, his face turning crimson. “I… I understand.” This person actually did that, and even… cough… She actually bit him on the face. Gu Tingshu’s heart pounds incessantly, refusing to obey his orders.
Although Zhao Xian appears calm, her heart is also racing, not quite understanding how she ends up biting someone’s face. Could it be because the jealousy from before hasn’t subsided yet? Unconsciously, her face darkens as she thinks of that woman again. She moves further inside the bed and points to the side, “Come, lie down here.”
Gu Tingshu is taken aback, and two words immediately flash in his mind: “consummation.” He shakes his head in a hurry. “No, you’re still injured. We should wait until you’re better for that.” Various inappropriate images flash through his mind, making his face burn even more.
“Ahem…” Zhao Xian is choked, and she waves her hand, “You’re thinking too much. I am not ready to go into battle while injured. I just want you to lie down so we can chat.”
“Oh⊙⊙! I see!” Gu Tingshu feels embarrassed, realizing he has misunderstood.
“You seem quite disappointed?” Zhao Xian raises an eyebrow.
“Who’s disappointed? How could that be?” Gu Tingshu nervously lies down beside her. It is the first time since marrying her that he has lain so close to her like this.
Zhao Xian looks at the considerable gap between them and notices that he is almost halfway off the bed. “You should come in more, or else you might fall off later. You don’t plan on sleeping like this all night, do you?” Zhao Xian knocks on the space beside her. “Come over.”
“Yes…” Gu Tingshu takes off his shoes and nervously moves closer to her, lying stiffly without daring to move. Perhaps because they are so close, Zhao Xian can smell the clean scent emanating from him. She pulls the nearby blanket over both of them. She wonders if she and this person will be bound together from now on.
“Let’s talk, shall we? I’m in too much pain, so it’s a good distraction…” Zhao Xian suggests.
“What does Wife want to hear?” Gu Tingshu turns to look at the woman lying beside him and can’t help but ask.
“Anything, just chat! For example, talk about your past…” Zhao Xian says.
“My past? There’s too much. What specifically?” Gu Tingshu feels a bit conflicted.
“Whatever you want to share,” Zhao Xian replies.
“Well, then let me tell you about my past! I used to sneak out with my sister and Sister Jitong to climb over the walls and catch fish in the river. Once, I fell into the river while trying to catch fish and almost drowned, but Sister Jitong saved me. Another time, my sister and I found a rabbit hole on the mountain. When I reached in to grab something, do you know what happened? It wasn’t a rabbit hole at all, it was a snake hole! I grabbed a cold, slimy snake. It wasn’t poisonous, but it scared me so much that I was sick for two days… And there’s more…”
