Dear Readers,

Thank you for your patience and support!

Chapter 40: Is That Jealousy? Damn it!

Zhao Xian naturally sensed the joyous atmosphere emanating from the man. She knew it was the feeling of belonging at home.

It’s like no matter how far she goes or how well she lives outside, she’s never as happy as she is when she’s back with her foster mother.

Perhaps the Prime Minister’s mansion didn’t give him that feeling! Thinking of this, she felt inexplicably uncomfortable.

Was that jealousy? Damn it, how could she feel this way.

While thinking, the carriage slowly drove into the gate of Anjun County…

It was already noon in the city, bustling with activity. Perhaps it was because of autumn, it wasn’t hot, so even at noon, the streets were still bustling with people.

“Lamb noodles… delicious lamb noodles…”

“Candied haws…”

“Selling pork…”

…

Arriving at the city, they instantly felt the lively atmosphere. All around them were the sounds of vendors hawking their goods and the chatter of passersby.

The carriage continued towards the west of the city and finally stopped at the entrance of the Gu family’s residence.

The carriage stopped, and Gu Tingshu directly lifted the carriage curtain and got off the carriage.

The steward who had been waiting at the gate saw them coming from afar and immediately shouted loudly, “They’re here, they’re here! Madam, Master, the Young Master is back!”

…

Zhao Xian stepped down from the carriage using a stool, lifted her gaze to the courtyard in front of her, took a deep breath, and walked over to Gu Tingshu’s side.

As soon as she stood still, a man’s gentle voice rang out.

“Shu’er, is my Shu’er back? Oh…”

Even before seeing anyone, the voice could be heard coming from the entrance.

a refined middle-aged man walked out. He bore a resemblance to Gu Tingshu, with a touch of elegance despite his middle age, making him a rare handsome man.

No wonder he could have such a son as Gu Tingshu; it must be due to good genetics.

As soon as he saw him, Gu Tingshu immediately rushed over and embraced him, showing a rare moment of coquetry. “Father, are you okay? Don’t cry. I’m fine! How about you? Is your health good?” After not seeing each other for a month, holding his father again, Gu Tingshu couldn’t help but shed tears.

He missed them very much.

“I’m fine, very fine. You, my child, why did you only come back now? Your mother and I were about to go to the capital to find you. We thought you were being bullied.” As the middle-aged man spoke, his gaze unfriendly as he looked at Zhao Xian.

Although the other party didn’t say anything, Zhao Xian knew he was glaring at her.

Feeling the murderous gaze, Zhao Xian remained calm.

Well, as the saying goes, parents worry about their children. They probably thought their son had suffered!

“Alright, stop crying and making a scene…” Just as they were talking, a gentle voice interrupted.

The voice was so familiar, as if it tore through space and time, bringing one back to the 21st century, back to when her foster mother was still alive.

That voice made Zhao Xian raise her head in disbelief.

The woman walking out of the door was tall and slender, dressed in a blue robe that exuded elegance and grace. There were wrinkles on her face, and although her appearance and attire were different, Zhao Xian still recognized her at a glance. She was her foster mother, the woman who had treated her like her own daughter.

But now that she had grown up, her foster mother was no longer alive.

However, she never expected her foster mother to now be standing before her alive and well. Zhao Xian was momentarily incredulous.

“Mom…” Zhao Xian spoke unconsciously in a low voice.

As she spoke, everyone was puzzled by the term “mom.”

Just as Zhao Xian was still in a daze, the middle-aged woman spoke up, “This humble subject, Gu Xian, leads the entire Gu family, here to pay respects to the Prime Minister…”
