Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Chapter 35: Prime Minister is Quite Easy on the Eyes

Meanwhile, Gu Lan, who was following Gu Tingshu, looked at his young master and suddenly felt like crying without tears. “Young Master, you have oil on your face…” Heavens, what if the Prime Minister dislikes him! Please, no! He felt like he was worrying too much.

Upon hearing Gu Lan’s words, Gu Tingshu couldn’t help but stare blankly. “What?” He quickly wiped his face with a handkerchief and indeed, the color was quite noticeable.

“…” Gu Tingshu twitched at the corner of his mouth, feeling like crying without tears, and awkwardly hurried to catch up with Zhao Xian’s pace.

He didn’t dare to look at her until he stood beside Zhao Xian in front of the carriage.

Zhao Xian glanced at the man beside her and spoke softly, “Get in the carriage.”

“Okay…” Gu Tingshu initially wanted to jump straight in, but in the end, he controlled his impulse and stepped onto the carriage using the footstool.

Seeing Gu Lan preparing to walk alongside the carriage, Zhao Xian’s mouth twitched. Could those two legs walk faster than the four legs of the horse?

“You too, get up and serve inside…”

Gu Lan hesitated for a moment, then smiled and nodded, “Yes, my lord…” Stepping on the footstool, Gu Lan got onto the carriage. After both the master and servant were inside, Zhao Xian got into the carriage and sat down.

Inside the carriage, Gu Tingshu and his servant sat on one side, while Zhao Xian sat facing them.

Because they didn’t know what to say, the carriage was very quiet.

…

The wheels rolled on the ground, slowly heading towards Gu Tingshu’s home.

Gu Tingshu’s home was in the next county after leaving the capital, Anjun County… It wasn’t too far away; they would arrive in less than a morning.

…

On the carriage, Gu Tingshu looked at Zhao Xian, who had been looking outside the carriage, and finally couldn’t help but speak to break the silence.

“Thank you for accompanying me back today.” Gu Tingshu said without even daring to look at her.

He couldn’t help but think that this woman was really pleasing to the eye.

Upon hearing his words, Zhao Xian turned back, “You’re welcome. Do you want some water? There’s a hidden compartment under the carriage with tea inside.”

Of course, all of this was from the memories of the original Zhao Xian, or she naturally wouldn’t know that there was more to the carriage than met the eye.

Pointing to a corner of the carriage, Zhao Xian continued, “There’s a button there!”

Gu Tingshu nodded, found the hidden compartment, opened it, and poured himself a cup of water from the teapot, taking a few sips.

Having eaten the buns earlier, he was naturally thirsty. After drinking the tea, he looked at Zhao Xian and asked, “Would you like a cup, my lady?”

Meeting his sparkling eyes, Zhao Xian couldn’t help but respond, “Sure.”

“I’ll pour you a cup,” Gu Tingshu said, taking another clean teacup and handing it to her.

Zhao Xian took a sip before handing it back to him…

Gu Tingshu put down the tea set and closed the secret compartment, and soon the carriage fell silent again.

Zhao Xian didn’t usually talk much, so when no one talked to her, she leaned back in the carriage and closed her eyes to rest.

The curtain of the carriage was blown up by the wind, lifting the stray hair on her forehead. Gu Tingshu couldn’t help but stare.

A woman could actually be this beautiful. He thought he was quite good-looking himself, but compared to this Prime Minister, he felt lacking.

Seeing that it was still early and the woman was resting with her eyes closed, Gu Tingshu took a cloak from the carriage and carefully covered her with it, then prepared to sit back down. He moved gently, afraid of waking her up.

But the carriage was still rolling, and just as he was about to sit back down, it hit a bump, causing Gu Tingshu to stumble and fall to the carriage floor.

He thought it would hurt if he fell.
