Dear Readers,

Due to a temporary website issue, starting around April 3, all novels started before January 2025 will be temporarily moved to the drafts folder for approximately 3–4 weeks. Unfortunately, this novel is included in that list. Regular updates will resume as soon as the site allows.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Chapter 21 Reading the Sutra is the pinnacle of life

Shaking her head to clear the cluttered thoughts, Zhao Xian reached out and opened the door to her room. Walking to the doorway, she looked into the distance, where the sun was setting.

Zhao Xian took a deep breath while watching the familiar sight of the evening sun, Zhao Xian thought to herself that living well was all that mattered.

Suddenly remembering something, she paused, realizing that there was something she hadn’t done yet. With that in mind, she walked straight into her room and headed towards the study. Her bedroom was connected to the study, with a small door between them.

The original owner’s study was simple and elegant, with rows of bookshelves filled with various books.

The lifestyle habits seemed quite similar to her own.

In the study, not far from the bookshelf, there were the four treasures of the study, and everything was complete with tables, chairs, and stools.

Glancing around the room, Zhao Xian sat down at the desk and took out a sheet of rice paper, arranged the ink and brushes, and began writing.

She hadn’t forgotten about helping that man with his plaque.

Perhaps out of pity, or something else, she couldn’t forget the lonely look in his eyes as he gazed at the plaque.

Perhaps this life was meant to be Zhao Xian’s, so she had to do something. Perhaps even the original owner would hope that the man who was nominally hers would live well?

After all, there weren’t many men like him in the world. Despite being treated poorly, he still followed her to the end when the original owner died.

Oh, why did she think of death again? It’s too ominous. Since she had transmigrated now, she couldn’t possibly be harmed by a scheming white lotus again.

As for what the schemer would do, she felt it had nothing to do with her. Let them do whatever they wanted.

…

Picking up her brush, Zhao Xian dipped it in ink and began to write.

She was confident in her calligraphy skills, having practiced professionally in her previous life. In order to become someone exceptional, she had worked hard to excel at everything.

If a genius doesn’t work hard, she’ll only be a fool; she had always deeply understood this principle.

Glancing at the original owner’s writing on the desk, bold and powerful yet elegant, it had both the resoluteness of a man and the gracefulness of a woman.

It was quite similar to her own handwriting. Sometimes, Zhao Xian couldn’t help but wonder how such coincidences existed in the world.

Looking alike was one thing, but having similar personalities as well was truly incredible.

Soon, three characters in cursive script were written on the rice paper.

“Ting Shu Yuan.” Zhao Xian blew on the ink and then called out towards the door, “Someone…”

Immediately, a guard opened the door and entered.

“Subordinate greets Your Excellency.” Whenever Zhao Xian called someone in the study, it was always a guard who entered, not a servant. The study was a restricted area, and unauthorized persons were not allowed inside.

Zhao Xian handed the written characters to the guard and said, “Take this and have a plaque made, then send it to the lord’s courtyard.”

The guard nodded solemnly.

“Yes, I will take care of it.” The guard took the paper respectfully and left.

After handling this matter, Zhao Xian looked at the neatly stacked account books on the desk.

Raising an eyebrow, she picked one up and flipped through it, understanding what it was. These should be the things prepared by the hidden guards, as she had instructed earlier.

It seemed that no matter where she went, she would always be busy.

As the saying goes, knowing oneself and knowing one’s enemy leads to a hundred victories. So, in order to survive better, she had to know everything about the original owner.

For the next half day, Zhao Xian began her struggle, reading one book after another.

After she finished reading, she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

Very well, this Zhao Xian was indeed formidable. So, it could be said that she had already reached the peak of life with just one transmigration!

Storyteller Valeraverucaviolet's Words

There is not Chapter 19 from the author. Ok, there was a chapter 19 but there's no story in it. Just a passage of promotion for her other novels so I didn't include it here as it's not relevant to the story. We'll move on directly to chapter 20
