Chapter 47: Eliminating Xuansha; Grandmaster Daoist Tranquil Void!

Eldest Senior Brother Mingshan and Second Senior Sister Mingyue were completely stunned.

When had Li Yan changed his name to Li Feiyu?

Yan and Feiyu—how could those names possibly be related?

Before they could speak, the shadows controlled by Li Yan clamped their mouths shut.

I’m sorry.

Though he bore them no ill will, Li Yan had no choice but to transform his senior siblings into Shadow Puppets.

In a way, this was saving their lives.

Under his control, Mingshan and Mingyue would survive without lingering side effects.

If they fell into the clutches of the Shadow Fiends, they would be enslaved for eternity, with no hope of redemption.

Adhering to the principle of “better a dead fellow Daoist than a dead Poor Daoist,” Li Yan formed a hand seal with two fingers and silently chanted.

“Rise!”

His senior siblings, with their weaker cultivation bases, couldn’t resist.

Martial Uncle Xuansha, relying on his peak Blood Shifting Realm cultivation, attempted a desperate counterattack.

Alas, the Blood Shadow Eldest Daughter swiftly strangled him with countless shadow hands, choking him into unconsciousness.

With all resistance gone, all three became Li Yan’s Shadow Puppets.

Their shadows rose from the ground, solidifying into black, lifelike figures with vacant eyes, standing motionless beside him.

From inside the palanquin, the Eldest Daughter chuckled. “Li Feiyu, how did you become so proficient with the Shadow Puppet Technique?”

Anyone else would have panicked at such a question.

But Li Yan had once been a member of the drama club and played various roles. His acting was nothing short of masterful.

“Reporting to the Eldest Daughter,” he said, “the Moon Shadow Daoist taught me the Shadow Puppet Technique.”

The Eldest Daughter showed no suspicion. Li Yan’s ability to use the Shadow Puppet Technique only further confirmed his status as one of their own.

He must be a member of the Shadow Fiend Clan; otherwise, how would he know such spells?

The malevolent spirits now fully accepted Li Yan as one of their own. As a newly emerged prodigy among the Shadow Fiends, they showered him with utmost care and attention.

“Elder Si Deng, do you see? Newcomers like Li Feiyu are truly worth investing our full effort in nurturing.”

The Blood Shadow Venerable One’s Eldest Daughter’s affection for Li Yan was palpable in her voice.

Though Elder Si Deng felt a twinge of jealousy, he respectfully replied, “As the Eldest Daughter commands.”

Li Yan bowed his thanks and glanced at the three Shadow Puppets he had just created: Xuansha, Mingshan, and Mingyue.

Thank goodness I transformed them myself, he thought. They won’t betray my secrets.

He secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He was glad he had acted decisively; otherwise, his true identity might have been exposed.

Currently, only Su Chongyue, the Su Clan Elder, knew Li Yan’s true identity. Everyone else who had known was either dead or had been transformed into Shadow Puppets.

Having dealt with these acquaintances, Li Yan still felt a flicker of unease. If Su Chongyue were captured, his secret would inevitably be exposed.

Hmm… perhaps it would be safer to turn Su Chongyue and the others into Shadow Puppets as well? Turning Su Chongyue into a Shadow Puppet would, in a sense, be saving his life.

As Li Yan pondered, the Immortal Carriage flew toward the Mist Gate. Elder Si Deng, the Lantern Bearer, raised his Lantern Staff and shouted, “Don’t just stand there! Follow the Eldest Daughter immediately! We’re entering Broken Sword Valley to retrieve the Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp!”

Li Yan trailed alongside the carriage, inwardly musing. What will the Eldest Daughter do when she discovers I’ve already taken everything? Will she lose her composure? After all, the very object of their quest, the Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp, was right here in his possession.

He followed the Immortal Carriage through the mist, but as he stepped back into Broken Sword Valley, something felt wrong.

“Hmm?”

Instead of the familiar Broken Sword Valley, he found himself still on the Mountain of No Return.

As his confusion grew, the surrounding mist gradually dissipated.

Elder Si Deng, who was leading the way, frowned. “What’s this?!”

“Eldest Daughter, we’re late! The Mist Gate to Broken Sword Valley has already dissipated. It seems we’ll have to wait until next year.”

Only then did Li Yan realize the Mist Gate had a time limit. Once it vanished, finding Broken Sword Valley again would be impossible until the following year.

Not bad…

Another year to keep the secret!

If they couldn’t find Broken Sword Valley, they’d never discover Li Yan had already taken the Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp.

Heh!

Inside the Immortal Carriage, however, the Eldest Daughter’s mood was far from pleasant.

“Elder Si Deng! Broken Sword Valley appeared a full day ago, yet you only arrive today! Do you realize how precious the Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp is to our Shadow Fiend Clan?”

Faced with the Eldest Daughter’s rebuke, Elder Si Deng lowered his head, daring not to argue.

This little princess is the Venerable One’s precious daughter, after all.

When the young miss began to lose her temper, Elder Si Deng didn’t even dare to breathe.

Not only was her status lofty, but her power was undeniable. If she grew displeased, a single Thousand-Hand Shadow could strangle Elder Si Deng to death.

“Eldest Daughter, this old one deserves ten thousand deaths!”

“This old one didn’t deploy enough informants, which delayed the Eldest Daughter’s treasure hunt.”

At that moment, countless shadow hands erupted from the sedan chair, swarming over Elder Si Deng and gripping his throat.

“If Broken Sword Valley is discovered next year, and you’re even a day late, this young lady will shred your shadow and feed it to the Shadow Beasts!”

Elder Si Deng trembled as he knelt, kowtowing and begging for mercy.

Having vented her anger, the Eldest Daughter in the sedan chair turned her gaze to Li Yan.

“Child, were you frightened just now?”

Li Yan lowered his head. “The Eldest Daughter’s judgment is as clear as day. How would this humble one dare to question it?”

The Blood Shadow Eldest Daughter paused, then pursed her thin lips into a bewitching smile.

“Oh? Such sweet words. I grow more fond of you by the moment.”

“I adore clever Shadow Fiends. Most of my clan are utter fools, but you’re an exception.”

As she spoke, her slender hand emerged from the sedan chair window and gently patted Li Yan’s shoulder.

Li Yan sensed that the Blood Shadow Eldest Daughter was fully inhabiting her human body, as if she reveled in using it.

Her smooth hand felt cool against his cheek.

“With your intelligence,” the Eldest Daughter said, “you’ll stay by my side and serve me from now on.”

“Once my father emerges from his secluded cultivation, I’ll recommend you to him.”

Li Yan was stunned.

He had only intended to infiltrate the Shadow Fiend Clan as a shadow operative, lurking in the shadows and reaping a few benefits.

Now, not only had he earned the Eldest Daughter’s favor and his status skyrocketed, but he was also being taken to meet the Venerable One!

What?!

Elder Si Deng, standing nearby, widened his eyes and urged, “Hurry up and thank the Eldest Daughter! This is your only chance to meet the Venerable One!”

“Tha…”

Before Li Yan could finish speaking, a voice suddenly boomed from the distant forest, crashing into his mind like a thunderclap.

“What vile fiend dares abduct this venerable one’s disciples and descendants?!”

Everyone turned toward the sound. In the distance, a cultivator with snow-white hair and a youthful face stood upon a flying sword, looking down upon them imperiously.

The Eldest Daughter, sitting in her sedan chair, refused to back down. “Who comes here?”

“This old one is Daoist Tranquil Void, Grandmaster of Tranquil Void Temple!”

Daoist Tranquil Void!

Faced with the newcomer, the Eldest Daughter sneered disdainfully from her sedan chair.

“So it’s just you. How dare a mere insect call himself a Daoist?”
