Chapter 28: Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp—Toxic Mist? A Great Tonic!

Li Yan swept his hand through the air, clearing the thick layer of moss from the stone tablet.

Four large, archaic characters were carved into its surface: “Sect Martial Treasury.”

“These ancient characters suggest this structure is a remnant of the Demonic Sect Holy Land,” Li Yan mused.

He tried to push open the stone door, but even with all his strength, it wouldn’t budge an inch.

“Su Mo, give it a try.”

Without hesitation, Li Yan ordered his Corpse Puppet forward.

Despite her monstrous strength, Corpse Puppet Su Mo strained against the door several times, managing to pry open only a narrow crack.

Her jaw clenched, her pink lips pressed tight, and her face flushed crimson as she strained against the door. Even with all her might, she couldn’t move it.

Remember, Corpse Puppet Su Mo possessed a Blood Pill Realm physique—and even she couldn’t open it!

The moment she relaxed, the crack in the door snapped shut again.

Li Yan stroked his chin thoughtfully. “This door must be sealed by some kind of Formation,” he surmised. “Even a Blood Pill Realm body can’t budge it.”

Exhausted from her futile efforts, Su Mo looked as dejected as a child, her disappointment plain on her face.

“Master… I’m sorry,” she mumbled.

Her failure to fulfill Li Yan’s command filled her with unease and sadness.

Li Yan reached out and patted her head in reassurance.

Li Yan pondered how to open the Martial Treasury of the Ancient Demonic Sect. The prize was so close he could almost taste it, yet it remained just beyond his reach, making his skin crawl with frustration.

His gaze finally settled on the crack in the stone door.

“The crack… Hmm? I’ve got it!”

Li Yan issued another command: “Su Mo, push the stone door open!”

Corpse Puppet Su Mo tilted her head, her tiny mind unable to comprehend her Master’s intentions. Still, she obeyed, straining with all her might to pry the door open just enough to create a narrow slit.

Li Yan formed a hand seal, activating the Blood Shadow Art. His shadow slithered into the crack in the stone door.

“Success!”

His eyes lit up, barely concealing his excitement.

Yet Corpse Puppet Su Mo remained puzzled. Even if her Master’s shadow had entered, how could he retrieve anything inside?

Su Mo’s pure eyes brimmed with curiosity about her Master. It seemed that after absorbing large amounts of toxic mist, her intelligence had improved somewhat.

But Li Yan’s mind was entirely focused on the Martial Treasury. He was plotting how to empty this ancient vault completely.

Upon entering, he was dazzled by the dazzling array of Magic Artifacts before him.

Soul-Summoning Bells, Soul-Locking Banners, Bone Swords, Soul-Snatching Chains, Bone-Cracking Axes, Wolf-Tooth Hammers…

Every type imaginable—familiar and never-before-seen—lay before him!

“Such a diverse collection… This really is the Martial Treasury of an Ancient Demonic Sect!”

Li Yan activated the Blood Shadow Art, sending his shadow into the Martial Treasury to investigate.

Inside, even the lowest-grade items were Mid Sixth Grade Magic Artifacts—a world apart from the shoddy counterfeits peddled by the charlatans at the Tranquil Void Temple.

In both grade and quality, these artifacts far surpassed modern Magic Artifacts.

Even the Magical Treasures used by Xuanwang and his peers were ancient relics passed down from ancient cultivators.

It was clear that the Immortal Cultivation World of today was simply living off the legacy of its predecessors.

But how to retrieve these treasures?

That was no challenge for Li Yan.

He pressed his Space Ring against the crack in the door and manipulated his shadow to hurl the artifacts inside toward the gap.

The artifacts nearest the crack were immediately sucked into the Storage Ring!

By exploiting this tiny fissure with his shadow and the Storage Ring, he could empty the entire Martial Treasury!

Before long, Li Yan’s ring was filled with dozens of Magic Artifacts.

As each treasure vanished into the ring, Corpse Puppet Su Mo beside him stared in disbelief.

A goofy grin spread across her face as she gave Li Yan a thumbs-up. “Master, you’re amazing!”

Only then did Li Yan notice a change in Su Mo’s intelligence.

“Hmm?”

Her mental age seemed to have risen from three to six years old!

Still, having such a loyal and physically resilient Corpse Puppet with growing intelligence was undoubtedly a good thing for Li Yan.

Noticing Su Mo’s burgeoning intelligence, Li Yan teased, “Su Mo, do you like these Magic Artifacts?”

“Yes,” she replied, her pure eyes gleaming with longing for the ancient relics.

“Then pick any weapon you like. Which one do you want?”

With a wave of his hand, dozens of Magic Artifacts surged from his Storage Ring, hovering in mid-air for Su Mo to choose from.

To Li Yan’s surprise, the Silver-Haired Fairy reached for the largest and most imposing weapon: the Demonic Bone Greatsword.

“Master, want this one.”

Her slender fingers gripped the massive blade, her petite frame dwarfed by the towering sword that stood taller than herself. The visual contrast was striking.

“Are you sure?” Li Yan asked skeptically, knowing her physical body belonged to a Blood Pill Realm powerhouse. Still, the sight of the five-foot-nine Su Mo wielding a ten-foot-long greatsword seemed… incongruous.

“It’s big,” Su Mo declared in her childlike voice. “Good for smashing people. Can protect Master.”

She even demonstrated how she would use the greatsword defensively. The blade was so massive that Su Mo could easily hide behind it, her slender figure completely concealed. The Demonic Bone Greatsword could even serve as a shield.

“If you like it, it’s yours.”

Seeing her Master’s approval, a faint smile bloomed on Su Mo’s face.

Li Yan detected a subtle emotion in the Corpse Puppet’s expression.

Since venturing deeper into Broken Sword Valley, the Corpse Puppet’s intelligence had noticeably increased, making her increasingly lifelike.

Yet who would suspect that this Silver-Haired Fairy was actually a soulless Corpse Puppet, suspended between life and death?

Now wielding the Demonic Bone Greatsword, Su Mo cradled the over three-meter-tall Magic Artifact with childlike delight, as pure and simple as a child with a new toy.

Just then, the shadow beneath Li Yan’s feet trembled violently!

“Hmm? Has my shadow found another Magic Artifact?”

He closed his eyes again, using his Mind’s Eye to observe the shadow’s movements.

He saw it had already infiltrated the Martial Treasury and paused before a lamp.

The lamp’s upper portion was crafted from blood-colored glazed glass, while its handle was forged from golden Mystic Iron.

The Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp stood alone on a stone table, its crimson glow cutting through the pitch-black treasury.

Li Yan manipulated the shadow to sweep away the dust from the table.

An inscription was revealed:

Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp—Do Not Touch.

“There must be a trap mechanism, but my Blood Shadow fears no such thing.”

Li Yan clenched his fist, using his shadow to lift the Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp.

The moment he touched it, he heard the distinct click-clack of mechanical gears turning.

A dark purple toxic mist erupted from the lamp’s base!

“Has the Yin Miasma Qi become denser?”

“Ah, so that’s how it works!”

Li Yan finally understood the trap’s malicious design. When someone removed the Blood Glazed Lotus Lamp, the stone table would rise, rapidly releasing a concentrated cloud of miasma.

Anyone else in the Martial Treasury would have been instantly poisoned to death by the hundredfold increase in Yin Miasma Qi.

Yin Miasma Qi corroded flesh, eroded bones, and paralyzed the soul.

But for Li Yan, inhaling this hundredfold concentration was almost orgasmic.

“Since we’re here, we can’t let it go to waste! Su Mo, push the door open and let the toxic mist drift out. Let’s take a few good whiffs together.”

“As you command, Master!”

While others would flee in terror from the deadly miasma, Li Yan and his Corpse Puppet Su Mo wedged the door ajar and sat in the doorway, eagerly inhaling it!

Meanwhile, outside Broken Sword Valley…

Xuanwang lifted his head and sniffed the air.

“Hmm? The acrid stench in the mist is stronger now?”

“Haha! That brat Li Yan triggered a trap inside and poisoned himself to death!”

The One-Eyed Old Daoist caught a whiff of the decaying odor carried on the breeze and gleefully slapped his thigh.

“Serves that traitorous disciple right!”

Xuanwang couldn’t have imagined in his wildest dreams that Li Yan was using the toxic miasma to make rapid progress in his cultivation, his strength skyrocketing with each breath.
