“Are you laughing at me?” Lu Hanzhang glanced at him.

“No, not at all,” Chu Muyun chuckled, hooking his finger around Lu Hanzhang’s. “Seeing you just makes me happy!”

“Don’t you think I’m being unreasonable and annoying?”

“Not at all. It’s actually quite amusing to see you like this.”

Lu Hanzhang tightened his grip on Chu Muyun’s hand, “You are laughing at me.”

“Uh…” Damn, the Great King tricked me.

Lu Hanzhang continued, “Have you thought about what kind of car you want? I’ll buy you one when you get home. But you should practice driving first. If you’re not comfortable, you can always have a chauffeur drive.”

The garage was filled with cars, mostly in rugged or business-style designs, predominantly black—all reflecting Lu Hanzhang’s taste. There probably wasn’t a model Chu Muyun would like.

“Mm-hmm, sounds good!” Chu Muyun proactively coaxed his Sugar Daddy. “I won’t buy a BYD, since I won’t be driving ride-hailing services anymore.”

Talking behind someone’s back like this feels a bit wrong, Chu Muyun thought. Good thing Han Jin left already and can’t hear me.

Chu Muyun thought to himself that he didn’t particularly dislike Han Jingchuan and had little interest in badmouthing him. But other matters were a different story. Once the Great King regained his memories, they could settle in at home and watch those wildly fabricated palace dramas about themselves, tearing apart everything from the Director and screenwriter to the mismatched actors. Then they’d tear apart every minister who dared oppose them.

Suddenly, a mischievous idea popped into his head, why not have the Great King hire a historian to host a lecture series, glorifying their love and tearing apart a corrupt, backward, and incompetent minister in each episode? Hehe.

They got into the car and headed to a restaurant for dinner.

After returning to the hotel, they found a box of lychees on the table.

Lu Hanzhang had somehow procured these lychees, which were even larger and of better quality than the ones Chu Muyun had bought online at a premium price.

Chu Muyun sat on Lu Hanzhang’s lap, peeled a lychee, and offered it to his lips, his eyes sparkling and his palm as pale and smooth as jade.

“Great King, eat this lychee. Spit the pit into my hand~”

“Beloved Consort…” Lu Hanzhang ate two lychees before wrapping his arm around Chu Muyun’s waist and feeding him the sweet, juicy flesh.

A lingering kiss followed.

When they parted, Lu Hanzhang said, “Last night’s dream was so vivid, it felt like I was truly there. I could see you feeding me lychees, taste their sweetness, and even remember what I was thinking at that moment.”

He gazed at Chu Muyun, his features softened by the dim lamplight, his eyes filled with tenderness and desire, “At that time, my body was burning with fever, on the verge of a manic episode. You may know that during the manic phase of manic-depressive disorder, one’s lust intensifies.” His voice grew husky, his eyes darkening. “My mind was consumed by a single thought, to tear off your robes right here in the palace hall and ravish you mercilessly…”

A searing heat coiled around them, even his gaze felt possessive as it lingered on Chu Muyun’s delicate, crimson lips, tempting him to taste, “But in the end, I forced myself to resist. I couldn’t bear to treat you that way, nor did I want others to see your body exposed.”

“Mmm… Great King…” Chu Muyun kissed him. “Even in my dream, I could feel your warmth and the changes in your legs. I wanted you, too. Now I can finish that dream.”

The tender moment of feeding lychees had transformed into a night of passionate abandon.

In a daze, Chu Muyun remembered he had filming tomorrow. If they didn’t stop, it might affect his work. But the thought of Lu Hanzhang leaving the next night—this being their last night together—made him reluctant to call a halt.

Never mind. I’ll just have to push through tomorrow.

The next day on set, Chu Muyun discovered the production schedule had been revised. His scenes for the day had been reduced to just three, with the rest being scenes for other actors. Moreover, the action-heavy fight scenes had been replaced with dialogue-driven scenes.

Someone must have arranged this in advance. Did he plan to devour me completely all along?

He glanced at Lu Hanzhang, who said, “You’re here with your own funding. Don’t worry about causing trouble for the crew.”

“Mmm-hmm.”

Chu Muyun wondered if this was right, but it felt incredibly satisfying. He was unaware that Lu Hanzhang had instructed his company to invest in the Snow Moon’s Intertwined Radiance production crew, with the sole request that the director slow down the filming schedule. He wanted to avoid rushing the actors, ensuring they received adequate rest, and improve the crew’s meals and accommodations.

Lu Hanzhang had showered Chu Muyun with jewelry worth far more than the actor could ever earn as a celebrity—gifts given out of affection, with no expectation of return. However, when it came to investments, President Lu never deliberately took a loss. His investment was based on the anticipated popularity of the drama Chu Muyun was starring in. Once it aired, the investors would reap every penny of their expected profits.

Today’s filming session was almost a carbon copy of yesterday’s. Lu Hanzhang sat on the sidelines, watching intently the entire time. As soon as the cameras stopped rolling, Chu Muyun would dash over to coax him, smoothing away the faint frown on his face until a smile bloomed in his eyes.

Chu Muyun sensed that Lu Hanzhang actually enjoyed being coaxed, even deliberately using these moments to assert his dominance over his perceived rivals. But Chu Muyun was more than happy to indulge him—he was willingly stroking the tiger’s fur.

That afternoon, Chu Muyun finished filming early and left the set ahead of schedule. The two spent another hour at the hotel before having dinner together.

Chu Muyun urged Lu Hanzhang to change his midnight red-eye flight to an evening one, so he could get back to the Capital earlier and get a good night’s sleep.

Lu Hanzhang was such a workaholic that even if he took a midnight flight, he definitely wouldn’t take the next day off. That was just too exhausting.

“Go back now,” Lu Hanzhang said in front of the airport terminal, releasing Chu Muyun’s hand but unable to resist touching his face. “I’m leaving. I’ll come see you again next weekend.”

Chu Muyun, who had come to see him off, wore a beige knitted hat, a matching scarf that covered most of his face, and a fluffy down jacket. This not only helped him avoid being recognized by passersby but also made him look like a fuzzy little milk ball.

“You’re coming next weekend, too?” Chu Muyun’s eyes lit up, but he quickly added, “It’s okay if you wait a bit longer. It’s too hard on you, with all the traveling back and forth, and you’re probably piling up work over the weekend that you have to catch up on during the week…”

When Lu Hanzhang visited the set, he took several calls, but since he hadn’t even brought his laptop, he clearly couldn’t handle much work.

“It’s fine, I’m not tired,” Lu Hanzhang said with a smile. “I’ve delegated some less critical tasks to the vice president. From now on, I’ll try to spend my weekends with you.”

His voice softened, “Before, I only had work, voluntarily working year-round without a break. But now that I have you, I realize how barren my life was before. Work isn’t everything.”

He didn’t voice his deeper fear, he had grown accustomed to this new life and could never return to his old one. Losing Chu Muyun would mean his utter ruin—his illness would spiral out of control, and he might never regain his sanity.

“Alright then,” Chu Muyun said, his eyes crinkling with a smile. “I’ll count the days until you come!”

He watched Lu Hanzhang pass through security and disappear, then returned to the hotel alone.

A recent message from Han Jin lay on his phone, cryptic and incomplete: [Am I too late?]

Given Han Jin’s reserved nature, this simple message had likely been typed, deleted, and retyped countless times before finally being sent.

Chu Muyun replied: [Yes, you’re too late.]

Chu Muyun had only met Lu Hanzhang half a year ago. But even before they met, his heart had already been occupied by the Great King, making any relationship with Han Jin impossible. Han Jin hadn’t just arrived a year or two late, he was a thousand years too late.

Chu Muyun stopped checking WeChat and opened the forum he hadn’t visited in days.

He first browsed the Watercooler Zone and randomly clicked on a thread.

Thread Title: Would the Martial King have beheaded all his potential rivals?

Original Poster: Well, he certainly didn’t hold back on the killings. Either he had his guards drag them away to be executed, or he personally chopped off their dog heads.

1st Reply: [My moral compass is twisted—I actually think most of the ministers and nobles he killed deserved it, lol. But if he was going to behead rivals, why didn’t he kill Han Jingchuan?]

2nd Reply:

Replying to 1st Reply:

[True. He even appointed the war-hero Han Jingchuan as Great General Who Guards the Nation. Ironically, Emperor Yu Huai, who succeeded him, never executed any ministers. Yet in his later years, the court was controlled by treacherous officials, rendering him a virtual puppet ruler. Han Jingchuan was exiled to the border for life and never recalled.]

3rd Reply:

[Ah, so everyone just assumes General Han was also in love with the Imperial Consort?]

Replying to 3rd Reply:

[Pretty much. The Martial Emperor entrusted his dying wishes to Han Jingchuan and left him a secret edict. That alone sparks plenty of speculation. (The Martial Emperor probably didn’t expect the Imperial Consort to die so soon; perhaps he originally intended Han Jingchuan to care for her after his own death.)

Why did the Martial Emperor choose Han Jingchuan over anyone else? What was Han Jingchuan thinking when he petitioned the court for the Imperial Consort to be buried alongside the Emperor? Delving into this question reveals some fascinating insights.]

[Although, “entrusting orphans” refers to entrusting one’s children, not one’s widowed consort, hahaha.

The Martial Emperor’s decision to entrust the Imperial Consort to Han Jingchuan could simply be explained by Han Jingchuan’s command of significant military power and political influence at the time. This allowed him to forcefully suppress other ministers’ demands for the Imperial Consort’s corpse to be flogged or cremated. Emperor Yu Huai’s caution toward Han Jingchuan, leading to his repeated demotions, is understandable. The weak and incompetent Emperor Yu Huai couldn’t control him and feared he might rebel.

However, a more nuanced interpretation suggests the Martial Emperor might have sensed Han Jingchuan’s secret affection for the Imperial Consort, which is why he chose him for this task.]

[We seem to have drifted off-topic. Can anyone tell me why the novel “Cloud Veil” in the Literature section was locked?]

Reply to 6th:

[It was locked because it featured a heretical sect. This forum prohibits any pairings involving heretical sects. The story depicted the Imperial Consort being neglected by the Martial King and seeking comfort from Han Jingchuan, who secretly loved him. It even included the famous line: “Am I the first person in the world to love two men at once?”]

Reading this, Chu Muyun typed a reply:

A Thousand-Year Dream replied to 7th: [The Empress’s demotion was justified.]

After browsing the Watercooler Zone, he opened the Literature Zone and clicked on a newly posted novel set in the entertainment industry.

Thread Title: My Beloved Consort Can’t Possibly Be a Nobody

OP: Work Original

[I’ve been working as a production assistant on a film set recently, and I’ve been eating popcorn watching a certain celebrity and his Dominant CEO boyfriend being disgustingly lovey-dovey. They’re putting on a show of affection for the entire crew, and they even engage in some… let’s just say interesting roleplay. I overheard the assistant shouting things like “Your Majesty, spare me!” LOL. (Don’t ask me to decode it—my job depends on it!) That’s when I got the idea for this entertainment industry story. The premise is that the Emperor and his Consort have transmigrated to the modern world. The Consort becomes a washed-up celebrity, while the Emperor becomes a Dominant CEO.]

Chu Muyun’s mouth hung slightly open, genuinely impressed.

He didn’t know who this person on the production crew was, but their typing speed and initiative were truly remarkable!

After reading the three thousand-word first chapter, he typed again:

A Thousand-Year Dream: [Update soon!]
