Lu Hanzhang couldn’t help but glance at his phone again.

Chu Muyun was returning home today.

Ever since his “Good morning” message, WeChat had been buzzing incessantly: [Heading to the airport now]

[Checked my son’s luggage]

[Selfie from the waiting lounge.jpg]

[Boarding—wait, boarding the plane~]

[Turning off my phone now. Will text you when I land.]

The messages were noisy and endearing, like watching a bright-eyed, winged rabbit hopping toward him.

The last message had been sent two hours ago. By now, Chu Muyun’s plane should be landing soon.

“Boss,” Li Weide said quietly as he knocked and entered, “your father called. He asked if you’ll be attending the family dinner tonight.”

“No,” Lu Hanzhang frowned. “Tell him I have plans.”

“Also, he mentioned his birthday banquet again and insisted you give him an answer.”

“…Tell him I’ll see if I’m free that day. If I am, I’ll let him know. Just say that.” Lu Hanzhang’s tone was laced with weariness, resignation, and irritation.

Even the seemingly glamorous world of wealthy families had its ugly sides. Despite being father and son, they communicated through their assistants.

“Understood, Boss. I’ll return the call immediately.”

Li Weide left, and Lu Hanzhang turned back to his phone. He zoomed in on the selfie, gently tracing the bright smile in the photo with his finger. His expression softened.

Ding ding ding on WeChat—Chu Muyun had arrived.

The assistant led him to the office, where he directed two employees from the flower shop to bring in the rose-covered teddy bear. They placed it in the corner facing Lu Hanzhang’s desk, ensuring he could see it with a simple glance.

Even before Misaligned had aired, Chu Muyun had already received his payment and immediately ordered the rose bear.

Now that I have money, I’ll buy the biggest bear for our Great King! His office is spacious enough to accommodate it anyway!

From the moment he entered the Lu Group Headquarters Building, starting with the reception desk on the first floor, he drew countless gazes.

Both he and his rose bear radiated vibrant flamboyance, like a dazzling, immense, and fervent declaration of love rushing toward its intended recipient.

It was also a bold assertion of ownership. The Li Family’s young heiress, who had previously flaunted her status as Lu Hanzhang’s fiancée, had been publicly humiliated by him and fled the country in shame that very night. But Chu Muyun possessed the confidence that came with being favored.

Lu Hanzhang finally saw the rose bear Chu Muyun had promised.

Layers upon layers of crimson roses formed the bear’s silhouette, its eyes crafted from black crystal, and a black silk satin bow adorning its chest.

The massive bear, taller than Chu Muyun himself when seated on the floor, dominated an entire corner of the spacious office. Anyone entering the room would have their eyes immediately drawn to it.

When Assistant Li Weide knocked and entered the office later, his first thought was, Good heavens.

The Boss had actually allowed that thing into his office. Love truly could change a person beyond recognition.

He set down his files and discreetly retreated. Unless the sky fell, he wouldn’t set foot in the Boss’s office again today.

Or tomorrow, for that matter.

If even a single petal fell, it would be his fault.

Chu Muyun wore a shirt the same shade as the roses, paired with black dress pants. A slightly wide black belt cinched his slender waist, and he wore a sweet but not cloying cologne. A color that would overwhelm most suited him perfectly, making him look like a fairy born from a flower’s heart, thriving on desire.

Lu Hanzhang gazed at him, his expression one of stunned admiration.

Chu Muyun returned the look with a cheerful smile.

Heh, the Great King is simply obsessed with my face. I’ve seen that look countless times before.

In his past life, Chu Muyun’s high-ranking father had scolded him for being idle, disliking books, and being too weak to learn martial arts—in short, a useless wastrel. He also criticized Chu Muyun for acting like a pampered daughter, indulging in daily grooming, wearing the latest fashions, and collecting piles of hairpins, bracelets, and waist pendants.

But everything changed after he became the Great King’s consort. No matter how Chu Muyun dressed, the Great King adored it. The palace employed a large group of artisans to craft jewelry exclusively for him, and a team of skilled seamstresses to tailor new garments. Luxurious jewels and precious spices from Nanyang and the Western Regions were lavished upon him. Sets of jewelry made from gold, silver, pearls, enamel, coral, crystal, agate, and jade were created one after another.

This extravagance led courtiers to secretly curse him as the “Demon Consort” for his extravagance—daring only to whisper their complaints, lest the Great King hear and their heads roll.

In modern society, Chu Muyun could indulge his love for dressing up to his heart’s content.

Before visiting Lu Hanzhang today, he made sure to apply a carefully calculated makeup look, enhancing his already striking features.

The flower shop employee placed the teddy bear and left, leaving them alone in the room.

“Do you like the teddy bear I gave you?” Chu Muyun asked.

“Mm,” Lu Hanzhang paused, then added, “I do.”

“Then give me a kiss as thanks~”

Lu Hanzhang gazed at him, stepped closer, placed a hand on his shoulder, leaned in, and gently pressed his lips against Chu Muyun’s cheek.

The kiss was as light as a feather’s touch, yet Chu Muyun’s body tingled momentarily, as if an electric current had surged through him. His heart skipped a beat.

After a moment to compose himself and savor the lingering sensation, Chu Muyun said, “Alright, you pass.”

If the Great King wanted to take things slow, then slow it would be. With so many eyes watching, it was clear Chu Muyun belonged to him now. There was no turning back.

Chu Muyun continued, “Boss, I rushed straight here from the airport. I even had my assistant take my son home, I didn’t have time to prepare a meal to bring.”

“You must be exhausted from your journey. Don’t worry about it. I’ll treat you to dinner. I’ve already made a reservation.”

“Sounds good.” Chu Muyun pulled up a chair to sit beside Lu Hanzhang. “Then you can work while I wait here. Are we still two hours away from dinner?”

He remembered the “no eating during work hours” rule, which even President Lu himself had to follow.

Lu Hanzhang smiled, “Let’s go now. I took the afternoon off to wait for you.”

Though he had been handling work matters before Chu Muyun arrived… that was merely President Lu working unpaid overtime.

“Mm-hmm! Let’s go!”
