Wind-Fire Wheel, a weapon used by Nezha, an immortal mythical character

There was still some time before the grand banquet at noon. While waiting, everyone got off the platform and casually admired the beautiful garden.

Jiarou returned from the restroom, thinking about how to avoid the lunch feast so as not to be recognized by Master Zhang. Passing by a clump of lush red willows, she ran into Xue Lang, who was enjoying the view, and his personal guard, Wang Huaian.

Hearing footsteps, Xue Lang turned sideways, saw that it was her, and looked away again. “Three days ago, Brother Pan claimed to be a veterinarian, but now he has transformed himself into a teacher in the prince’s mansion. Brother Pan is so good at scheming, it’s really admirable.”

Jiarou scoffed, “As the saying goes, a man of talent can travel the world. Grand Protector, you better hold your chin in your hand. There are many more abilities to admire in the future.”

“Oh?” Xue Lang’s gaze finally landed on her face. “The skill you mentioned, brother, is it the prodigal son’s return that you just planned and participated in? This general is indeed a little surprised. Brother Pan is indeed more cunning than I thought.”

“Grand Protector Xue achieves great things, and won’t care about trivial matters. To gain a piece of land, he even lied about his father’s death. You and I are the same.”

She had won a great victory today and was in a very good mood. She didn’t want to get entangled with him anymore, flicker her sleeves and was about to leave. However, the square-faced Wang Huaian stopped her.

After not seeing him for three days, the blisters on his face had disappeared, but the wounds had not healed and the old scabs had not peeled off, making his face look rather unpresentable.

“You little brat, you’re so bold as to act so arrogantly in front of the Grand Protector. Do you know how you’ll end up dying?”

“Anyway it won’t be an ugly death!” She rolled her eyes at him, turned around and left.

Wang Huaian was left hopping mad alone but he couldn’t do anything about her.

She turned a corner and walked a few steps, but suddenly realized that the “official certificate” she had been carrying with her had fallen somewhere.

Although this item was of little use to her in the countryside, It wouldn’t do without it in Qiuci, or even on the way back to Chang’an. If it were lost, she wouldn’t have any way to find a skilled craftsman to make a replica.

Recalling that it might have fallen when she loosened her clothes, she immediately turned back to look for it. After a quick search, she returned to the garden. As she continued to search among the flowers and grass she had walked past with her head lowered, she suddenly heard a clear and cold voice, “Are you looking for this thing?”

A big hand abruptly appeared in front of her, with a very deep line on the palm extending down from the space between the thumb and index finger, causing his palm to appear completely bent.

At the deepest point of the fold lay a yellowed piece of Xuan paper, folded several times. On the left corner of the envelope was a black spot, the result of pepper stains from her recent breakfast.

It was precisely the official certificate of her fake identity.

She immediately reached out, but the hand in front of her quickly retracted.

Xue Lang’s hateful face appeared in front of her. He leaned against the tall trunk of a poplar tree with a barely noticeable faint smile on his face.

“Want it?” he asked.

“It originally belonged to me, I’m taking it back.” She said with a stern face.

“This general has something to ask you. If you answer me obediently, I will return it to you. Now, let me ask you, how did Miss Cui Fifth’s carved copper bowl end up in your possession?”

“Who is Miss Cui Fifth or Miss Cui Sixth? I don’t know them.”

“Oh?” He raised his eyebrows and pretended to tear up the official certificate.

She was anxious and went forward to snatch it away, but he just stretched out a finger and pressed it against her forehead. He didn’t seem to use any force, yet she couldn’t get close to him.

On the distant platform, Prince Baiyin had wiped away his tears and recovered from the touching feeling of father-son relationship.

Recalling how he had just personally agreed to Xue Lang’s request to expand the land for garrisoning troops, he always felt that it was too easy.

It should be known that when General Cui entered Qiuci as the Grand Protector of Anxi ten years ago, he did a lot of practical things for Qiuci, and only then did he get that piece of land from him for stationing troops.

The “Chang’an Bridge” outside the gate, which spanned the river for dozens of feet, was one of the bargaining chips used by General Cui to obtain the land.

And now, Xue Lang got it so easily just by talking.

Clearly he was already old and became soft-hearted easily.

He thought for a moment, then suddenly slapped his leg. “I’ve been careless! This Grand Protector Xue is quite cunning. He came openly to recommend a teacher. If successful, according to the diplomatic relationship between our two countries, I must return the favor, and he can take the opportunity to claim the land. But if he fails, I will refuse him, which would be tantamount to denying face to the Chang’an court, and I must make amends to him. His original intention for this trip had nothing to do with a teacher at all!”

Housekeeper Bai was waiting beside him. Upon hearing him, he suddenly realized what was going on. He whispered in a hoarse voice, “But, after thinking about it, why do Master Pan and him seem to be in cahoots? The two of them worked together so seamlessly that we were caught off guard.”

They both simultaneously turned their heads and looked into the distance, just in time to see Xue Lang leaning leisurely against a tree, with one finger resting on Pan An’s forehead, who was an arm’s length away.

However, Pan An, being short and having short arms, was swinging his arms like a wind and fire wheel, yet he couldn’t even touch half of Xue Lang’s clothes.

Pan An seemed to almost faint in fury at his own pathetic appearance. Even standing on the platform more than ten feet away, they could make out that “he” had a ferocious face, with all white teeth showing, wishing he could pounce on Xue Lang and bite him to death.

Prince Baiyin observed for a while before coming to a conclusion, “That shouldn’t be the case. If the two were really in cahoots, Master Pan wouldn’t have gone to the trouble of acting out that scene with the third son.”

At this point, he couldn’t help but chuckle again, “Third son has learned several poems in just a few days. Even though Master Pan is a little rascal, he is quite capable. Never mind, that piece of land is not suitable for grazing anyway, so just go with the flow and do a favor.”

In the distance, Cui Jiarou finally stopped, gasping for breath, took two steps back, and clenched her teeth. “Xue, don’t bully me because I’m young. I’m telling you, my body is still growing, in another two or three years, my arms won’t necessarily be shorter than yours!”

Xue Lang pulled a handkerchief from his lapel and wiped the finger that had touched her forehead. He said casually, “According to the official certificate, you are already over twenty years old. I’m afraid you’ve reached your maximum height in this life.”

“You saw it? How dare you look at my private things?” she said angrily. “I curse you’ll get an eye infection!”

Xue Lang put away his handkerchief, his voice tinged with impatience. “This general will ask again, why are Miss Cui Fifth’s things in your possession? Think carefully before answering. Otherwise, if Prince Baiyin knew that Pan Yongnian’s ancestors had been poor for three generations and could never raise a well-bred, well-educated descendant, guess, do you think he would still entrust his beloved third son to you?”

Jiarou was naturally not Pan Yongnian’s son, but now she has taken on the identity of his son by mistake, and was now in a weak position.

In Qiuci, there were indeed more than a dozen kings, and quite a few dandy descendants. But no other king was like Prince Baiyin, who was not only a gifted talent scout, but also wealthy and generous.

If Xue Lang disrupted her good things and she lost this cozy place, she would be screwing Zhao Yong over.

Zhao Yong’s inn had creditors dropping by every day, he couldn’t even take care of himself!

After several breaths, she said honestly with a cold face, “Before I came to Qiuci, I passed through Chang’an and happened to meet Miss Cui Fifth, younger sister Cui. She is peerless, with a beautiful face like a fairy, and an immortal-like countenance…..”

“Get to the main points.”

“Younger sister Cui has a keen eye for talent. She sees that I am a rare genius, with unparalleled talent, rarely seen in the world…..”

Xue Lang’s face darkened, his two fingers tightly gripping the official certificate. Just the slightest pressure would break it.
