Chapter 51: Revisiting

Wang Lin calmly withdrew his wrist from her grasp, letting his hand rest on her shoulder as he drew Li Muwan into his embrace.

“I’m fine, Wan’er. Don’t worry.”

Li Muwan knew his frequent transfers of Spiritual Power to her these past days had drained his own reserves, while her condition had only shown temporary improvement.

“It’s my fault. Wan’er has burdened you,” Li Muwan wept, burying her face in his shoulder, clinging to the warmth of his neck and his familiar scent.

Feeling her sobbing against him, Wang Lin comforted her, unwilling to let her blame herself. He bitterly regretted making her wait a hundred years only for their reunion to be so brief. “I should be the one saying those words.”

“I’m the one who failed you. I’m the one who owes Wan’er…”

“Senior Brother…”

“Wan’er, nothing will happen to you.” Wang Lin released her only to cradle her face, his gaze tender. “I won’t let you die. Absolutely not.”

“I will find a way to cure you. I swear it. Wan’er, believe me!”

Tears welled in Li Muwan’s eyes. “Senior Brother, Wan’er… Wan’er…”

Wang Lin watched her intently, waiting for her to continue. After a long pause, she only whispered, “I missed you so much… so very much…”

Closing her eyes, Li Muwan pressed her lips to his, hot tears tracing paths down her cheeks. Wang Lin saw those tears and felt his heart being shredded.

She had replaced “Wan’er can’t bear to leave you” with “I missed you so much” – refusing to add even an ounce of burden to Wang Lin who was already hanging by a thread.

His hands slowly moved from her cheeks to her back, holding her tight.

He responded to her kiss with fervent intensity.

Li Muwan shifted until she was straddling him, her tongue boldly seeking entry. As her lips parted, Wang Lin’s passion surged forward to meet hers.

The chill of the Cave Residence mingled with the heat radiating from their entangled bodies. She seemed unsatisfied, wanting more as her restless hands tugged at the collar of his white robe. Wang Lin caught her wrists, desire warring with concern as he struggled internally. “Wan’er?”

Her condition remained unstable, and he feared she couldn’t withstand such intensity. Though they had shared a bed these past days, holding her each night had already filled him with pent-up desire. Now her passionate provocation made restraint impossible. His suppressed longing erupted like a violent thunderstorm in the night, battering against his crumbling defenses.

“Senior Brother, be gentle with Wan’er just this once…” Her eyes were red-rimmed, vision blurred by tears as she gazed pitifully at Wang Lin. Her eyes sparkled with unmistakable desire, openly declaring her wants.

Wang Lin swallowed hard, his throat parched and burning. His bright eyes blazed with unconcealed lust.

Her soft pleas tempted and tormented him. “Senior Brother… Wan’er wants to…”

“Wan’er, you…” Wang Lin’s voice turned hoarse, his expression pained as he fought to control emotions that could no longer be contained. “You can’t endure this.”

“Wan’er is fine, Senior Brother. Wan’er can take it,” Li Muwan coaxed him. “Doesn’t Senior Brother want to?”

Wang Lin’s brow remained tightly furrowed, his resolve unyielding.

“Indulge Wan’er just this once.” Her soft breasts pressed against his solid chest as she breathed warmth against his ear, then trailed along his jaw to his lips, whispering against them, “Husband…”

“Have mercy on your wife, husband…”

That single word “husband” shattered his remaining control like a death curse. Wang Lin tore open his outer robe and surged to his feet, sweeping everything from the long table with one motion. A vase clattered noisily across the stone floor.

With her back against the wooden table, Li Muwan’s hands were already undoing his waistband. As his long gown pooled on the ground, Wang Lin supported her waist with one hand while gripping the nape of her neck with the other, taking full command of their passionate union.

“Didn’t Wan’er say she wanted to know what other surprises I had?” The hair crown fell, sharp contours moving downward along the chest line, revealing a flat and taut abdomen with alluring waist curves. Her long legs were lifted by strong arms as his nose traced along jade-like pillars.

In the empty cave residence, air currents drifted, white hair intertwined, and the wooden desk was soaked with unidentifiable moisture.

Neither was particularly driven by desire, but their affection ran so deep they wished to carve themselves into each other’s flesh, as if wanting to relive those tender moments countless times.

He had restrained himself for so long, controlled himself for many days, yet now he succumbed to those coaxing words and actions from earlier.

“Mmm…” Li Muwan muffled her voice, wanting more. “Senior Brother, can’t bear to see Wan’er in pain?”

“Wan’er.” Seeing the pain between her brows, Wang Lin ultimately couldn’t bear it and suppressed his impulses. “You can’t handle it.”

If he were ruthless, he could reduce her to tears.

“It’s alright.” Li Muwan held him tighter.

“Senior Brother, trust Wan’er.”

Wang Lin tried to comply with her wishes while still cherishing her.

Li Muwan made no sound, only shaking her head, yet she reveled in his affection.

Heavy breaths mixed with her soft whispers, “Wang Lin, deeper…”

“Wan’er.” Wang Lin’s eyes reddened at the corners, stimulated by her words. He intensified his movements as she grasped at the elusive mist, seeking something within.

“Senior Brother… more, deeper…” Tears streamed from the corners of her eyes, flowing down her cheeks.

Wang Lin withdrew slightly. Though she clearly struggled, she still wanted him to be more greedy, as if wanting to memorize his passion drowning within her.

Wanting to carve it into each other’s flesh, so there would be no regrets.

“Wan’er…” Wang Lin struggled internally.

Her continuous sobs and pleas for mercy had long shattered his defenses. Wang Lin reversed his grip on the arms holding him from behind, pressing them beside her cheeks, interlocking their fingers as he gazed at her flushed face.

Outside the Sea of Demonic Cultivation, wind rose. Night mist spread as mystical plant buds silently opened and closed, absorbing heaven and earth’s spiritual energy. The waterfall flowed murmuring, the quiet night streamed through the long river, and starlight dotted the vast night curtain.

The force exerted proved too much for the wooden desk, which had long shifted position, scattered items in disarray.

Those pains repeatedly transformed into pleasure. Wang Lin’s heart stirred slightly as their entwined bodies moved into the inner stone chamber, the cave residence’s chill dispersing.

The moisture they brought remained on the stone bed. Exhausted, she noticed darkness had fallen outside the cave residence, candles having burned low.

Her vision blurred as heavy breaths fell by her ear. Li Muwan glanced sideways at the water dripping from the stone chamber walls, like the warm flow beneath her that subtly continued even after their union.

Wang Lin kissed her eyelids contentedly – the tears tasted salty. He smoothed her disheveled hair, caressing her feverish, flushed face, his heavy breathing still uneven. “Wan’er, are you alright?”

Li Muwan’s cheek rested in his palm. Coming to her senses, she felt ashamed of her earlier wanton self, wanting to hide yet having nowhere to conceal herself. “Senior Brother, Wan’er is fine.”

Wang Lin had also regained his composure. With a spell, he summoned their outer garments and used his divine sense to check her physical condition, only relaxing after confirming she was unharmed.

Seeing him reach to drape the clothes over her, Li Muwan felt sticky and wanted to wash. She stopped his movement, softly murmuring, “Senior Brother.”

Wang Lin was startled, thinking she wanted more, the clothes halting mid-air.

“Wan’er wants,” Li Muwan hesitated, “Wan’er wants to bathe.”

Wang Lin chuckled softly, then scooped her into his arms and carried her to the mountain behind the Cave Residence. A waterfall cascaded down into a secluded pool, its waters cool until Wang Lin channeled his energy to warm them.

Stepping into the pool, Li Muwan felt warmth spread across her back. Wang Lin set her down against the pool’s edge, and she nestled close to him. Under the cold gleam of the full moon, every mark on their bodies was vividly illuminated.

Wang Lin’s fingers traced the imprints he had left, his long hair drifting with the current.

With bone-defined fingers, he gently smoothed her silver-white hair, his gaze tender. Li Muwan rested her head on his shoulder as they gazed at the night sky, where starlight and moonlight intertwined. The murmuring stream and shimmering reflections surrounded the two figures nestled together, whispering intimately.

Only when the moon slipped behind clouds did they return to the Stone Chamber. Li Muwan fell asleep, and Wang Lin propped his head on his hand, watching her face intently.

Once her breathing deepened in slumber, Wang Lin rose again to channel Spiritual Power into her.

For days, he tirelessly transferred Spiritual Power to nurture her, until exhaustion forced him to his knees. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, and the taste of blood filled his mouth. Lifting his head, he glimpsed her improved complexion through his haze of fatigue, renewing his resolve. A stray lock of hair lay across Li Muwan’s brow.

Deep in his heart, his Wan’er had always been like flawless jadeuntouched by disorder, untainted by dust.

He vowed that from now on, under his protection, Li Muwan would remain free from stain and strife.

Struggling, Wang Lin dragged himself to the edge of the bed and raised a hand, using a wisp of Spiritual Power to gently smooth that stray lock.

Only then did he return to his seat and resume transferring Spiritual Power.

He had promised her a few days here, and seeing her joy during this time pained him with reluctance.

Wang Lin delayed their departure by two more days. Li Muwan gazed at the Cave Residence, laden with their memories, unable to tear herself away. Lingering, she looked back again and again, imprinting in her mind the place where they had once relied on each other for survival.

To her, there would be no returning, and her heart remained unsettled. For Wang Lin, the foremost task was to aid her in achieving Nascent Soul Formation and prolong her life. In the future, if she wished to return, she could. Wherever Li Muwan wanted to go, he would spare no effort to fulfill her wishes.

“These past few days, has Wan’er been happy?”

“Happy.”

“Wan’er, if you ever wish to return, I will accompany you.”

“Alright.”

“Wan’er, are you cold?”

“Not cold.”

“The sea is transforming.”

“Is it beautiful?”

“Beautiful.”

“Mm.”

“…”

Their figures and voices gradually faded into the mist of the Sea of Demonic Cultivation. The mountain sank back into the earth, now surrounded by additional Ancient Restrictions. Spirit Beasts swam in schools through the inner sea as the transformation unfolded…

“Those are Spirit Beasts from the inner sea.” Li Muwan’s voice was cheerful as she watched them glide through the water.

“If Wan’er enjoys watching, we’ll stay a while longer.” A mosquito beast hovered overhead as faint mist condensed into droplets.

Sunlight was rare in the Sea of Demonic Cultivation, yet in the distance, a golden glow skimmed the sea’s surface, sparkling on the waves.

“That is… the setting sun.” Li Muwan pointed toward the distant red orb. With a slight stir of his divine sense, Wang Lin transformed their forms into streaks of light, landing amidst the clouds and sunlight.

Golden radiance enveloped them, casting a warm hue even on their silver hair. Their sharp, cold features softened slightly, yet carried an even deeper sense of serene detachment.

The two stood upon the mountain rocks, thick clouds surging like tides, gilded in gold. In the distant peaks, only two figures could be seenone in front, the other behindtheir long hair lifted by the wind as they gazed toward the far mountains, the sea of clouds, and the setting sun.

Beneath that cool, elegant countenance, boundless affection welled up. She watched the warm hues of the clouds, while he saw the pure lotus blooming radiantly.

As dusk deepened, the two arrived once more at a teleportation array. Their destination: Cloud Heaven Sect.

Wang Lin had previously sent a sound transmission to Zhou Lin. Since their last departure from Cloud Heaven Sect, Zhou Lin had been managing sect affairs on behalf of the sect master. The Southern Garden remained vacant, reserved for no one else, and the spirit herbs within it were tended daily by specialists assigned by Zhou Lin.

Upon receiving Wang Lin’s Sound Transmission Jade Slip and learning of their return, Zhou Lin was so overjoyed he set aside all critical sect matters. In his transmission, Wang Lin had instructed him to gather several Grand Ancestors to await their arrival.

Though their Soul Blood had been returned, with Wang Lin’s cultivation level, reclaiming it would be effortless. Moreover, the Grand Ancestors both respected Li Muwan and feared Wang Lin’s thunderous might.

Outside the Cloud Heaven Sect’s gates, Zhou Lin and the Grand Ancestors had been waiting respectfully for some time. In the distance, a massive mosquito beast approached, carrying what appeared to be an immortal couple, their silver hair flowing effortlessly without wind.

Zhou Lin gazed at his master, her youthful face now crowned with white hair, emotions swirling within him. Yet seeing her again, he couldn’t conceal the joy in his heart.

“Master,” he stepped forward, then bowed to Wang Lin, “Senior.”Zhou Lin,” Li Muwan looked at her former disciple, now bearing the composure of one shouldering great responsibilities, and couldn’t help but show satisfaction.

“We’ve troubled the Grand Ancestors to wait so long,” she said with perfect etiquette. Having left Cloud Heaven Sect, she knew her return was an imposition.

“Since the Grand Sect Master and Sect Master have returned to Cloud Heaven Sect, you must have matters requiring our assistance. Please speak freely,” Liu Fei got straight to the point.

Wang Lin produced a pill formula. “Mobilize the entire Cloud Heaven Sect to refine this pill. I need it for Wan’er’s Nascent Soul Formation.”

The group glanced at Li Muwan. The aura of death around her was heavier than when she had left ten years ago. No wonder Wang Lin looked so grave and had sent such urgent transmissions. Yet she herself maintained a demeanor of serene detachment.

The Grand Ancestors couldn’t help but feel regret while admiring Li Muwan’s calmness in facing life and death.

Ouyang Zi took the formula. “This is… the Sixth-Grade Origin Returning Pill Formula!”

“These are some medicinal ingredients I’ve collected over the years. See what’s still missing,” Wang Lin patted his Storage Bag, and hundreds of medicinal materials floated out.

Ouyang Zi marveled, truly witnessing something extraordinary.

He picked out several ingredients. “So many Immortal Herbsthese only exist in the Immortal Realm.”

“And this Wind Welcoming Grassat least fourth-level cultivation nations would have herbs of this quality.”

“Profound Yellow Grass, Heavenly Spirit Grass, Peony Yellow…”

“The Grand Sect Master’s mystical powers are beyond this old man’s reach.”

“This Jade Slip records 137 types of herbs and materials. The refinement difficulty is unprecedented, and more importantly, most are rare treasures that have long been extinct. Our sect only has about twenty types in stock. Combined with what the Grand Sect Master previously obtained, we’ll need to research substitutes for the remaining missing ingredients.”

“The entire Cloud Heaven Sect stands ready. Spare no costuse whatever we have immediately. If we lack anything, trade with other sects at high prices.”

“Some ingredients in this pill formula are nothing less than foundational treasures of fourth and fifth-level cultivation nations.”

“Then I shall retrieve them personally.”

…

Above the lotus pond in the Southern Garden, a pair of white cranes soared past. The layout of the Southern Garden pavilion remained completely unchanged. Li Muwan gently lifted the gauze curtainthe wooden table beneath the windowsill still held white plum blossoms.

“Here, everything remains the same.”

“Zhou Lin is quite thoughtful.” Wang Lin wrapped his arm around her shoulder and guided her to sit on a nearby chair.

“After days of traveling, Wan’er needs proper rest.”

“I’d like to stroll around the Southern Garden,” Li Muwan took his hand, “Senior Brother, accompany me.”

Wang Lin had originally intended to visit the Grand Ancestor Hall after she rested. Meeting Li Muwan’s hopeful gaze, he couldn’t bring himself to refuse. After agreeing, the two arrived at the Southern Garden’s backyard.

Hundreds of Mystical Plants were cultivated here, including the peach tree the two of them had planted together. Li Muwan plucked one of the Immortal Herbs and placed it in Wang Lin’s palm.

“Does Senior Brother remember what this is?”

Wang Lin’s thoughts returned to a century ago, when Li Muwan had taught him to identify herbs and memorize their effects in her capacity as grandmaster.

“Forget-Worry Grass.” He stored the medicinal herb away.

“Wan’er wishes Senior Brother would never need to worry again from now on.”

“With Wan’er by my side, I naturally have no need for worries.”

She wanted to console Wang Lin, but he refused to let go and wouldn’t see reason.

Both knew the inevitable outcome. Hearing her words, Li Muwan felt her heart ache unbearably, waves of reluctance washing over her again.

She wasn’t afraid of death – only reluctant to leave him.

Reluctant to leave him alone to struggle and scheme in this treacherous World of Cultivation.

“The wind is picking up, let’s return.” Her silver hair cascaded over her shoulders as Li Muwan brushed aside the stray strands from his eyes with her fingertips, revealing his exquisite brow bone. She had always adored his eyes and eyebrows beyond measure.
