- Chapter 46 - Executive Training
Pei Song’s fingers hovered over the keyboard as he quickly scanned the message on his phone. Then, he opened a new command window.
“Mr. Zhou, I just received a support request from the technical team in Country D. They need our authorization to proceed with remote operations. I recommend approving it immediately. They have more experience in system maintenance than we do.”
This was undoubtedly the best course of action. Zhou Feng made the decision without hesitation, “Alright, handle it immediately!”
Just then, the supplier’s technical director arrived on-site. “Manager Pei, do you need our assistance?”
“Please gather all available technical resources,” Pei Song instructed simply. “I’m testing a possible solution.”
The technical experts from the headquarters in Country D quickly connected to the system. Pei Song and the supplier’s team worked closely together, troubleshooting the issue step by step.
“Found it!” Half an hour later, Pei Song suddenly spoke. “The problem lies in the firewall configuration. The system mistakenly identified an attack and automatically cut off all connections.”
He swiftly modified a few lines of code, and the system finally restarted. The lobby lights gradually lit up, and the trapped guests were safely rescued.
From the moment the crisis began to its resolution, less than an hour had passed.
“Good thing Manager Pei was here.” The technical director sincerely praised him. “A failure of this level would typically take a team at least half a day to fix.”
By the time the last group of guests was sent off, it was already late at night.
Pei Song collapsed into his office chair and pulled out his phone to message Shi Yancheng, “Thanks for helping me contact the technical support today.”
“Take a break?” Shi Yancheng quickly replied.
“Still need to handle the failure report.”
“Go home first. Write the report tomorrow.”
Pei Song thought for a moment. “Alright, I’ll pack up and head back.”
As he looked at his phone screen, the corners of his lips curled up unconsciously.
At the next day’s review meeting, when discussing the cause of the system crash, Liu Yan tried to shift the blame, “A technical failure like this is unpredictable…”
Pei Song opened his laptop and pulled up a detailed analysis report.
“Actually, signs of this issue appeared during the testing phase. Look here, the system logs show multiple anomalies in the firewall configuration, but they were mistakenly dismissed as normal fluctuations.”
As he explained, he displayed various data points.
“That’s why I propose adding a real-time monitoring module with more precise warning thresholds. This way, even if the system encounters an issue, we can detect and resolve it immediately.”
Li Ming listened intently. The report not only summarized the root cause of the incident but also provided a complete preventive solution.
“I’ve already drafted the design blueprint for the monitoring system.” Pei Song projected a flowchart. “If everyone agrees, we can deploy it in the testing environment first.”
Zhou Feng observed Pei Song’s calm and thorough explanation, a hint of approval flashing in his eyes.
This young man wasn’t just composed under pressure, what was even rarer was that he thought ahead and considered the bigger picture.
“This is a solid idea.” Zhou Feng examined the report closely. “Have you considered implementing this monitoring system across other company projects?”
Pei Song hesitated. “That… might require some adjustments based on each project’s characteristics.”
“Draft a comprehensive proposal first,” Zhou Feng instructed. “Let me know if you need any support.”
That evening, after finishing his meetings, Zhou Feng headed to the underground parking lot.
A Bentley Mulsanne EWB in obsidian gray was parked not far away. Under the lights, its metallic finish exuded a subtle elegance.
As a car enthusiast, Zhou Feng couldn’t help but admire it.
It was Bentley’s latest flagship luxury sedan, equipped with a 6.75L V8 twin-turbo engine and custom EWB extended interior, priced at over 8 million yuan.
Even in the luxury car-laden CBD, such a model was a rare sight.
As he was appreciating the vehicle’s sleek lines, he unexpectedly saw Pei Song approaching while talking on the phone.
“Alright, we’ll proceed as you requested. I’ll send over the quotation first thing in the morning.”
Holding his phone in one hand and his briefcase in the other, Pei Song slid into the passenger seat.
The driver naturally leaned over, expertly fastening Pei Song’s seatbelt for him. The motion was effortless, as if done countless times before.
Pei Song didn’t even look back, he simply leaned forward slightly to cooperate with the action. After ending his call, he turned to the driver and said something, breaking into a boyish smile.
It was a completely unguarded expression, one Zhou Feng had never seen at work.
“I’m exhausted today. I just want to take a long hot bath when I get home.”
Pei Song’s voice drifted through the slightly open car window, carrying a rare hint of playfulness. The driver responded, making Pei Song chuckle again as he comfortably sank into the leather seat.
Standing in the shadows, Zhou Feng watched as the Bentley slowly drove out of the parking lot.
For some reason, seeing Pei Song so relaxed and trusting in someone else stirred an inexplicable feeling inside him. Who was this person that Pei Song relied on so much?
The next day, Zhou Feng called Pei Song into his office.
“I heard you recently moved out?” He asked casually.
Pei Song nodded. “Yeah, I’m staying at a hotel for now.”
“That person who often picks you up… a friend?”
Pei Song’s movement paused for a moment. “A former roommate from my time in Country D.”
Zhou Feng thought for a second. “That Mr. Shi?”
Pei Song lowered his gaze and murmured, “Mm.”
Zhou Feng noticed the slight flush on Pei Song’s ears, and that strange emotion in his heart grew stronger.
“You handled the Future Hotel situation well.” He changed the subject. “The headquarters’ executive training program, would you be interested?”
Pei Song was taken aback. “That…”
“No rush to decide,” Zhou Feng said. “Think about it.”
That night, Pei Song shared the news with Shi Yancheng.
“Executive training?” Shi Yancheng’s tone was unreadable. “Do you want to go?”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
By the weekend, Future Hotel welcomed its first official guests.
All systems operated smoothly, and the intelligent services received unanimous praise.
“We really have to thank Manager Pei this time,” the supplier’s technical director said. “If you hadn’t caught the issue in time, the consequences would’ve been unimaginable.”
Even Li Ming chimed in, “Manager Pei, I look forward to working with you more in the future.”
Seeing everyone’s shift in attitude, Liu Yan sat silently in the corner, his expression dark and unreadable.
