Thinking of this, Liu Huang’s legs went weak. Once again, he shouted to his men, “Everyone, get her! Kill that little wench first!”

At his order, even more men surged toward Ying Su. But since she had just slit someone’s throat with a single stroke, fear lingered in them. They surrounded her cautiously, yet none dared to make the first move.

From the side, Liu Huang roared, “Get her, damn it! Whoever kills that little wench, I’ll have the Hall Master promote him to a post at the Canal Gang headquarters!”

Those words really stirred some desperate courage. After all, landing a position at headquarters meant status wherever you went, people would look up to you, the profits were plentiful, and the respect was greater.

Wang Ba, worried that Ying Su couldn’t handle so many, quickly finished off the enemy in front of him and ran toward her, shouting, “Protect my sister, damn it!”

Ying Su’s lips curled in a cold smile. Just a handful of them, and they thought they could kill her? This Liu Huang was truly naive.

Back then, when she carried out missions, she’d encountered all kinds of assassins and agents. In Dubai, she had been besieged by thirty mercenaries and still slipped away with ease, what were these mobs in comparison? Not even worth her notice!

What followed was a blur, no one could see how Ying Su moved. Her speed was too fast. The men only felt their vision reel as cries of pain rang out one after another. By the time Ying Su lowered her hands and stood off to the side, arms crossed, the ground was littered with severed limbs. Blood dyed the floor red, flowing out in streams.

Wiping away a blood drop that had splashed onto her face, Ying Su hooked her lips in a smile and said to Liu Huang, “Now, it’s your turn.”

To Huang Liu, that voice was death itself. Panicked, he cried to those behind him, “Loose the arrows! Kill her! Hurry! Hurry!”

Arrows shot straight at Ying Su. Her brows lifted slightly; she snatched up a table and used it as a shield. The tabletop was soon studded densely with arrows. While silently counting the time it took them to notch and draw again, she suddenly hurled the table straight at Liu Huang’s archers.

At the same time, her figure flashed forward in a bizarre movement. Before anyone could react, she had Liu Huang seized, the gleaming tip of a dagger pressed against his throat.

All eyes fell on the petite, slender woman. None had expected that such a plain little wench could instantly turn the situation around.

Liu Huang’s men glared at Ying Su, their blades and arrows all aimed at her. Yet her face held not the slightest fear, only a mocking, careless smile.

“You… you… let me go!” Liu Huang stammered, pale as a ghost. “If you release me, we can call this matter even. But if you kill me, the Qinglong Hall Master will never let you go!”

“Is that so?” Ying Su pressed her dagger down a fraction. A bloody line opened on his neck, making him scream in pain.

“If you don’t want Liu Huang to die before your eyes, drop your weapons!” Ying Su’s phoenix eyes sharpened as they swept over his remaining men.

The gangsters stared at her, hesitant. Ying Su gave them no chance to think. Grabbing Huang Liu’s hair, she slammed his head hard against a nearby pillar.

Thud! Liu Huang let out a shrill cry.

Without mercy, she smashed his head against the pillar again. Soon blood trickled from his forehead, dizziness clouding his mind. He groaned weakly, “Drop your weapons! You want to watch me die?”

Hearing this, the men finally threw their weapons to the ground. Even the last six archers dropped their bows and arrows.

Ying Su shot a look at Wang Ba. He immediately understood, signaling his men to gather up all the weapons. Liu Huang’s followers were quickly bound with ropes.

Liu Huang’s face twisted in misery. What was supposed to be an easy win had turned upside down in an instant! His small eyes glared hatefully at Ying Su. All of this, everything, was ruined because of that little wench!

Wang Ba picked up a bow and arrow, rubbing his bald head with a grin. “Now this is good stuff! The Qinglong Hall Master really splurged, even handing this brat such fine weapons!”

Though the court didn’t strictly control weapons, cold-iron bows and arrows of this quality were rare. If caught forging such arms in secret, it was a serious crime.

Now, Wang Ba’s men all looked at Ying Su differently. In the underworld, fists spoke louder than anything. They had all dismissed her earlier as a weak little woman, but now they looked at her with both respect and fear.

“What should we do next?” Wang Ba asked, still frowning despite having captured Liu Huang.

“Who’s managing your gang now?” Ying Su asked.

“The old leader is gravely ill. These days, all major and minor matters are handled by the Qinglong Hall Master. From what I’ve heard, the Zhuque Hall Master has already sided with him. The Baihu Hall Master is close with our own hall master, but he hasn’t openly taken a stance.” Wang Ba laid out what he knew.

“Then send Liu Huang and his men straight to the Canal Gang. While the old leader still lives, expose the Qinglong Hall Master’s power-grabbing face. At that time…” Ying Su smiled faintly, leaving the rest unsaid.

Wang Ba blinked, scratching his beard. “Will that work?”

Ying Su smiled and nodded. “First, it will test your hall master’s true intentions. Second, once the matter is out in the open, the Qinglong Hall Master can’t move against you so easily.”

She didn’t believe for a second that the Heiwutang Hall Master had no interest in the leader’s seat. If he really didn’t want it, he could have simply ordered Wang Ba to withdraw and let the Qinglong Hall Master have the territory.

Liu Huang had brought so many top fighters, there was no way the Heiwutang Hall Master didn’t know. Yet he pretended, telling Wang Ba to yield if he couldn’t win, saying Liu Huang wouldn’t kill him. But from Liu Huang’s actions, it was clear he had intended Wang Ba’s death from the start.

If she guessed correctly, the Heiwutang Hall Master planned to use Wang Ba’s death as leverage, branding the Qinglong Hall Master with the crime of seizing power while the leader still lived, delivering him a fatal blow. But since Wang Ba is loyal, Ying Su couldn’t spell this out to his face.

Relieved, Wang Ba said, “Sister, this time I owe you my life! When I return safely from the Canal Gang, I’ll properly thank you!”

Standing nearby, Wang Yuan looked at Ying Su with a complicated gaze. All along, he had never taken this kind of woman seriously. Sure, she could fight, and she was different from other women, but in the end, she was just a country girl about his age.
