Boundary - Chapter 15
After instructing the Gu family’s nanny, Jin Nanting returned to the second floor. Auntie Song only told him that Gu Yetong’s room was at the end of the corridor on the right, but didn’t specify whether it was the east or west end.
He opened a door first, and the ladylike atmosphere that greeted him quickly made him realize that this was Gu Yetang’s room. The cherry pink wallpaper and cream-colored furniture were elements he had also seen in the villa he had prepared for their married life.
But expressed in a more restrained way.
“Sister said, this is a home for two, so she designed it for both of us.”
When she took him to “inspect” their marital home, Gu Yetang introduced it this way.
Gu Yetong had never asked about his preferences or living habits. Perhaps she heard it from her sister, or perhaps it came from years of experience, she incorporated his preference for simplicity and practicality into the soft and beautiful base.
She used a lot of wood tones to dilute the girlishness of pink, and used more rigid lines to make the space more modern. The most ingenious thing was that she dotted many mathematical and geometric elements, combining Gu Yetang’s expertise in music with his Go skills, making the entire villa really seem like a home belonging to both of them.
“I can’t live here.”
No wonder she was so repelled by it.
On the first day of their marriage, Jin Nanting naturally had the driver take them to that villa. However, standing at the entrance, Gu Yetong refused to go any further.
“Here…” her red lips trembled, “this belongs to Tangtang… I feel like a usurper here.”
Jin Nanting wasn’t sure if the sudden sadness in Gu Yetong’s eyes was because she remembered her sister or her own situation.
What does it mean to be a usurper? If her sister comes back, will she have to give up her status as his wife again?
But Jin Nanting knew that now was not the time to argue with her.
She wasn’t wrong.
As the chief designer of the entire villa, Gu Yetong, who had poured a lot of effort into it, stood here but seemed out of place with the entire space.
So, he thought of the vacant flat apartment by the river.
That apartment that hadn’t been tainted by anyone’s style.
“There’s one thing you should know.” And when he took Gu Yetong into “their” new home for the first time, he felt the need to explain to her. He could see that this matter must have troubled her all night. “I haven’t touched your sister.”
Kisses, of course; caresses, not many.
He took the initiative to explain, just to prevent unnecessary speculation from fermenting and casting a shadow over their upcoming life together.
“Why?” Unexpectedly, Gu Yetong frowned and continued to ask.
He shrugged, “I always thought there was plenty of time, no rush.”
He wasn’t an ascetic; on the contrary, he had many desires, so sexual desire seemed less important.
But from another perspective, he really never had any sexual fantasies or impulses about Gu Yetang.
For him, the girl was like a delicate piece of art that should only be appreciated and cherished.
He didn’t know if his body would be as agitated as it was that day if the person walking towards him in the off-the-shoulder wedding dress at the wedding was still Gu Yetang.
Looking at Gu Yetong’s almond-shaped eyes confused by panic, her red lips that seemed to be raised but not, her swan neck held high pretending to be calm, her bre*sts almost overflowing from the wedding dress… the desire ignited by her made Jin Nanting want to press her under him, peel her layer by layer, crush her bit by bit.
Jin Nanting silently retreated from his ex-fiancée’s room and pushed open the door to his wife’s room across the hall.
This was a room with very simple hard decoration, beige walls, and brown-green toned floors. But every piece of furniture in the room was very special in color and shape. There was a small cabinet with flowing colors and mother-of-pearl inlay, a stainless steel coffee table with clean lines, and a pop-style armchair with bright colors.
It was clear that each piece of different furniture was a carefully selected collection by Gu Yetong.
And on the wall behind the desk, there were many paintings of various sizes, some in gouache, some in line drawing, all depicting buildings from various places, and one in the corner caught his attention.
“Why are you here?” The owner of the room appeared at the door at this moment. Gu Yetong had changed into home clothes, and her hair, just blown dry, was unusually fluffy.
“Grandpa said he wanted to sleep for a while.” Jin Nanting pointed to a hand-drawn sketch on the wall, “Did you draw this?”
“Hmm? Oh…” Gu Yetong walked to his side, “I drew it in high school in an interest group.”
Sure enough, the grapevine trellis, the grand auditorium, and the European-style antique teaching building, every meticulous depiction was exactly the same as in his memory.
He didn’t know that architecture was not just her major and work.
“Did Grandpa let you go?” Gu Yetong coughed lightly to get his attention, seemingly a bit embarrassed by his excessive attention to her work.
“Don’t worry, I lost to him.” Jin Nanting sat down at the foot of her bed, “Why did you only tell me today?”
“Hmm?” Gu Yetong walked to his side, seemingly really not knowing what he was talking about.
“Grandpa had a minor stroke on Wednesday, why didn’t you contact me immediately?” He took her hand and asked.
“Weren’t you in Poland?”
“In the internet age, where can you not reach me?”
“But what could you do if you knew?” Gu Yetong still didn’t think there was anything wrong with what she did.
“I could have flown back earlier to accompany you.” Jin Nanting said solemnly.
Sharing the toil and worries for his wife is what a husband should do.
“Jin Nanting, you…” The woman curled her lips, as if to say she didn’t believe he, a workaholic, would do this. But faced with his unusually serious gaze, her mocking smile gradually disappeared. “I can handle it.”
“I never doubt your ability.” Of course, he knew she could handle it, “I just hope that when something happens, you will tell me first.”
What action to take after knowing is his choice. But he was not satisfied that his wife only remembered his existence when she had time.
He knew his tone sounded a bit strong, he thought the woman would shake off his hand and argue with him, telling him when to notify him was her business.
But surprisingly, Gu Yetong just lowered her eyes.
Perhaps she was really too tired.
“Have you been sleeping at the hospital these two days?” Jin Nanting reached out and touched her dark circles.
“Hmm.” Under his gentle touch, Gu Yetong finally showed real fatigue.
“Sleep for a while first.” He got up and pushed her towards the head of the bed. Deciding to reiterate to her the treatment he, as the legal first in line, deserved after she woke up. “If there’s anything, I’ll call you.”
