Blessed Girl From a Farm Family: Surviving the Famine With Space - Chapter 26
The two families went their separate ways, and Fu Manman continued on the journey with her younger brothers.
Now that they had meat, food was no longer a pressing issue. They needed to find a place to rest, eat their fill, and then continue their journey.
She wondered if the enemy troops outside the forest had retreated yet!
The four siblings hadn’t gone far into the woods when suddenly, a tiger’s roar echoed behind them.
“Oh no, the mother tiger has come for revenge!” Fu Qiang’s hair stood on end. He was the first to turn around and saw the towering tiger slowly approaching, sending chills down his spine.
Fu Manman turned back, her gaze cold and sharp as she stared at the tiger. Well, you beast, she thought. I spared your life, yet you don’t know when to quit. This time, I won’t hold back.
“Sis! What do we do? It’s coming!” Fu An was terrified, clutching Little Maodan tightly.
This was bad. What if the tiger had brought its entire family for revenge?
“You run! I’ll fight it!” Fu Qiang stepped in front of the other two. He didn’t know why, but even though he had once wished for Fu Manman’s death, he now couldn’t bear to see her die.
The tiger must have brought companions for revenge. No matter how strong Fu Manman was, she couldn’t take on so many tigers alone.
Seeing Fu Qiang’s sense of responsibility, Fu Manman felt a warmth in her heart. She pushed him aside and said to him and Fu An, “You two run. I’m strong. I’ll handle them.”
“Fu Manman, do you think your strength is endless?” Fu Qiang was angry, though he didn’t quite understand why.
Tch! This brat actually dared to call her by her full name. He really had no respect for his elders.
“Go, and from now on, call me ‘sis’.” Fu Manman grabbed Fu Qiang by the collar and tossed him aside.
Fu Qiang felt utterly humiliated! He had been thrown aside like a chick by Fu Manman.
Fu Manman, radiating killing intent, cracked her knuckles and strode toward the tiger.
She walked closer and closer, then suddenly widened her eyes and stopped in her tracks.
So… so cute!
The mother tiger was holding a fluffy, adorable little tiger in its mouth.
Wait, was this tiger using its cub as a shield to make her hesitate?
“You beast, I spared your life, and this is how you repay me? Prepare to die!” Fu Manman raised her fist and charged.
Suddenly, the tiger crouched down, its front legs kneeling before her, and gently pushed the little cub toward Fu Manman.
“Roar…” The tiger let out a low growl.
Fu Manman froze, her fist still raised.
What kind of move was this? What was the tiger trying to do?
They say even a vicious tiger doesn’t eat its own cub. Was it offering its child to die?
“Roar, roar…” The tiger continued to growl softly, slowly backing away.
No, it didn’t seem like it was sending its child to die. It was giving its child to her.
“Are you asking me to take care of your child?” Fu Manman lowered her fist and asked.
“Roar…” The tiger growled in response, its bell-like eyes welling with tears. Then it turned and left.
Fu Manman was shocked to see the numerous wounds on its back—some so deep the flesh was torn open. These were clearly bites from other wild animals.
As the saying goes, “a tiger fallen on hard times is bullied by dogs.” This tiger was injured and had been targeted by other beasts in the forest. It must have been gravely wounded and, facing death, wanted to find a home for its child.
It believed she could protect its child!
Fu Manman’s heart was deeply moved. Even a wild beast knew how to protect its own child. Why didn’t humans understand this?
Along the way, she had seen too many people selling their sons and daughters.
“Go in peace. I will raise it,” Fu Manman said, touched by the mother tiger’s devotion.
The tiger glanced back at its child one last time, then resolutely disappeared into the forest. Not long after, the sounds of animal combat echoed from deep within the woods.
