But in the end, he was the one who ended up getting beaten more often.

Now he was meddling in other people’s business again, one against four—how could he possibly be a match for them!
With just that rusty, broken knife in his hand.

“You heartless monsters, how dare you bully children! Today, I, Chang Zhong, will uphold justice on behalf of heaven!” Chang Zhong brandished his worn-out knife, full of fierce determination.

Fu Manman quickly took a few steps back, afraid that this uncle might accidentally hurt her in the heat of the moment.

Judging by the way he swung the knife, she thought he seemed pretty amateur!

Actually, she could handle these scumbags on her own.

“Uncle! Let me handle this!” Fu Manman called out timidly from behind him.

“Little girl, take your brothers and run! Leave this to me!” Chang Zhong stretched out his arm, speaking with chivalrous determination.

His sincerity and kindness were truly touching, but… was he really up to it?

“Alright then, Uncle, we’re counting on you,” Fu Manman said, pulling Fu An and Fu Qiang aside to take cover.

Of course, she wasn’t going to leave. She would wait for the right moment to act.

The atmosphere suddenly grew tense. The four men also drew their weapons—a rusty kitchen knife, a short dagger, a long wooden club, and one guy simply grabbed a handful of dirt and hurled it straight at Chang Zhong.

Caught off guard, Chang Zhong was hit. Seizing the opportunity, the four rushed forward, and a chaotic brawl broke out.

Fu Manman had expected to witness an exciting fight, like those she’d seen on TV.

But… these men scuffled like a group of villagers brawling after an argument—punching and kicking each other indiscriminately.

Four against one—Uncle Chang was at a severe disadvantage. Those shabby weapons might not be lethal, but he was still overwhelmed by the group attack.

It was time for her to make a move!

Just as Fu Manman stepped forward, a deafening tiger’s roar suddenly erupted from the forest.

It was followed by Liu Si’s blood-curdling scream.

Earlier, Liu Si had run into the woods to hide after having his ear sliced off by Fu Manman, but unfortunately, he stumbled upon a tiger. The scent of blood on him attracted the starved beast that had been lurking in the forest.

After killing Liu Si, the tiger was still unsatisfied. Spotting more people, it leaped out from the woods, jaws wide open.

The men who had been fighting froze in terror at the sight of the tiger, screaming and scattering in panic.

“Run!” Fu Qiang grabbed Fu Manman, who was still standing there in a daze.

The ferocious tiger charged straight toward the burliest man. Seeing the tiger chasing him, the man was scared out of his wits, screaming uncontrollably. Suddenly, he dashed toward Lu Hua.

Lu Hua and the children were petrified at the sight of the tiger. Their legs turned to jelly, completely refusing to obey them.

Now, seeing the villain running toward her, she panicked!

“Lu Hua!” Chang Zhong cried out in despair at the sight of his wife and children. He was too far away from them at that moment. He scrambled to his feet and ran desperately, trying to save his family.

But no matter how fast he ran, he couldn’t catch up in time!

The man being chased by the tiger rushed up to Lu Hua, snatched the frailest of the children—San Ya—and turned to hurl her toward the tiger.

“Mom…” San Ya screamed!

“San Ya!” Lu Hua shrieked, her voice trembling, before collapsing to her knees in terror.

“San Ya!” Chang Zhong’s eyes widened in horror as he stretched out his hand and charged forward, straining with every ounce of strength to save his daughter.

The thought of watching his daughter be devoured by the tiger was more than he could bear.

“Ah!” Chang Zhong lunged but missed, crashing heavily to the ground. Helpless and terrified, he watched as the tiger leaped, jaws gaping, toward San Ya.

My daughter! I’ve failed you! Chang Zhong’s heart shattered in agony, and he let out a guttural roar.

But the next moment, his jaw dropped, and he stared in stunned silence.

A flash of light streaked before his eyes, and a small figure stood between the tiger and his daughter.
