He glanced at Fu Manman again.

The girl before him was dressed in tattered black cloth clothes, her face sallow and thin, skin chapped and cracked, with two red, swollen patches of frostbite on her cheeks. Her hair was dishevelled, smeared with mud and rotten leaves, and the hands holding the bowl were dry and black like tree bark.

This was Fu Manman—even the location of the frostbite on her face hadn’t changed.

“You eat! I’m really not hungry.” Fu Manman pursed her lips and smiled slightly.

Fu Qiang looked at the wounds on Fu Manman’s hands, lost in thought, and said to Fu An, “Maybe Eldest Sister already ate the noodles.”

Since she was the one who found them, she must have eaten them long ago. And she probably only gave them to us because she was too full to finish them herself!

It must be like that. But why were there so many wounds on her hands? What did she go through last night? Fu Qiang shook his head. Why was he overthinking this?

Hearing Fu Qiang say this, Fu An thought it made perfect sense.

Eldest Sister must have already eaten.

Fu Manman knew the original host was selfish and self-serving, so she felt her second brother’s words weren’t wrong.

She happily nodded to herself, “Yeah, I’ve eaten. You guys have it.”

Fu Qiang snorted inwardly. He had actually thought Fu Manman had changed just moments ago and felt a flicker of emotion.

Fu An licked the bowl clean. He couldn’t bear to wash it and carefully set it aside, saying, “This is my bowl. Don’t anyone touch it. Tonight, we can boil some water and soak it—it’ll still have flavor!”

Fu Qiang thought this was very reasonable. He also quietly set his bowl aside. Not to mention, the noodles even had a bit of oil slick!

Hearing Fu An’s words, Fu Manman found it both funny and pitiable. These two poor children were probably eating their fill for the first time.

“So full. So, this is what feeling full feels like—it’s so comfortable.” Fu An rubbed his stomach, a look of bliss on his face.

“If little sister were here, she’d be overjoyed.” As soon as Fu An mentioned his sister, his eyes dimmed, and he felt sad.

After saying this, he covered his mouth and glanced secretly at his eldest sister. Would she get angry?

“Ai…” Fu Manman sighed. She wasn’t angry. In times like these, how many people sold their children? Selling siblings was probably commonplace!

“Once the rain stops, we’ll go find our sister,” Fu Manman said to Fu An and Fu Qiang.

For now, they could only do their best and leave the rest to fate.

Outside the cave, the drizzle continued incessantly, occasionally accompanied by the distant roars of wild beasts.

The four Fu siblings huddled together under the quilt, a bonfire burning beside them.

On a cold, rainy day like this, being able to nestle so comfortably was truly a blessing.

Fu An was especially happy and content. He kept stroking the cotton quilt, thinking that with this blanket, they would never have to fear the cold again.

Fu Manman’s eyelids grew heavy. On a rainy day like this, there was nothing else to do but sleep.

Eating their fill and resting well would allow them to continue their journey.

Moreover, she wanted to try using her will to enter the space again.

She closed her eyes, chanting inwardly, “Space, where are you? Let me in. System? Are you there?”

After silently reciting for a while, there was no response. Could it be that she could only enter in emergency situations?

Last time, it was during the critical moment of falling from the tree!

It was very likely. If that were really the case, wouldn’t she have to find a tree to jump from every time she wanted to enter the space?

What if it failed one time? She could end up crippled!

Fu Manman sighed and lamented. Old Heaven, are you playing with me?!

Fu Manman tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Beside her, the youngest, Mao Dan, was sleeping soundly. Fu An had also started snoring, his nasal sound heavy—a clear sign the child had rhinitis.

Fu Qiang lay with his eyes closed, sleeping lightly. The quilt was too warm, so warm that he wanted to bury himself in it.

But he couldn’t. Sleeping deeply meant danger—it was a matter of life and death.

Suddenly, his eyes snapped open. He swiftly crawled out from under the quilt.

Then he shook Fu An and called to Fu Manman, “Get up, stop sleeping. Put the quilt away.”

Fu An rubbed his eyes drowsily. He had just fallen asleep. This quilt was so warm, and sleeping was truly comfortable. He was reluctant to get out.

“What’s wrong?” Fu Manman propped herself up, asking curiously.

This second brother either didn’t speak or said strange things when he did.

“Someone’s coming. This quilt can’t be discovered.” Fu Qiang’s hearing was exceptional. He had pressed his ear to the ground and heard a group of people walking this way.
