Bai Zi didn’t know how to describe what she was feeling.

Her mind and body seemed to have been forcibly separated by some strange energy. Although mentally, she was clearly in a state of unprecedented comfort and joy, her body had been taken over by an unknown agitation.

At this time, in the eyes of Shi Lei and the middle-aged woman, Bai Zi, whose left hand was still tied to the operating table, was like a violent little beast.

They could clearly feel that there seemed to be some kind of huge energy hidden in that thin body.

The middle-aged woman turned, wanting to sneak out and call for help, but suddenly, Bai Zi beat her to the punch and tried to stand up from the operating table, but the belt holding her left hand prevented her from moving.

It seemed that this feeling of being restrained caused the agitation in Bai Zi’s heart to erupt. She immediately tensed her body, and let out a low roar from her throat.

An extremely dangerous aura began to spread, and the middle-aged woman, who had originally planned to run away, was firmly rooted to the spot by this aura.

Suddenly, Bai Zi raised her left hand violently, and the other leather strap that was binding her instantly snapped.

This movement startled the other two, causing them to tremble involuntarily. But before they could come back to their senses, Bai Zi grabbed the scalpel that was stuck in her left shoulder, and without hesitation, forcefully pulled it out.

A few drops of blood splattered out with the scalpel, and some even landed on Shi Lei’s mask.

At this time, an unbelievable scene appeared—the wound left by Bai Zi’s shoulder after pulling out the scalpel quickly healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Besides a few bloodstains that hadn’t been wiped away, the fair and delicate shoulder was as smooth as porcelain. At first glance, that part seemed like a perfect sculpture.

At this time, the owner of this sculpture slowly sat up, but didn’t stop moving. Then, she propped herself up on the operating table with both hands, crouching slightly like a cheetah, staring at Shi Lei on the ground with those black eyes, as if she was about to swallow him whole in the next second.

Although it was just eye contact, Shi Lei found that under his thick protective suit, his close-fitting clothes had long been soaked with cold sweat that had seeped out due to fear.

Although he wanted to escape as soon as possible, his body was trembling even more violently than before. Not to mention escaping, he didn’t even have the strength to call for help.

In contrast, Bai Zi, who was crouching on the operating table like a small beast, was trying hard to figure out something that was completely irrelevant to the current situation.

She recognized Shi Lei, and also remembered what Shi Lei had done to her. She even remembered the scene of the two fighting at the dock a year ago.

But Bai Zi found that she couldn’t remember why she had such a strong hatred for Shi Lei.

Of course, she remembered that she wanted to help Meng Yilan—

Meng Yilan.

The moment these two words flashed through her brain, Bai Zi was slightly stunned.

She also hadn’t forgotten Meng Yilan, and still remembered that the other party had been a very famous media person, and also remembered that she was the daughter of the chairman of the Hongya Group. She hadn’t forgotten the bits and pieces of her interactions with Meng Yilan these past few days.

But…

Just as Bai Zi began to think carefully, the agitation that had been constantly swelling in her heart was like a sharp blade, suddenly piercing into Bai Zi’s brain.

In an instant, her brain matter exploded, and began to run amok in her body.

And that surging agitation also spread to all parts of her body along with the ruptured brain matter. At the same time, Bai Zi’s hatred for Shi Lei was constantly intensified. Finally, she uncontrollably jumped up and pounced towards Shi Lei.

Shi Lei, who was sitting on the ground, didn’t have time to react. He only felt a darkness in front of his eyes, and then a sharp pain came from below—Bai Zi was pressing on him like a beast, and her right knee just happened to hit Shi Lei’s crotch hard.

At the moment Bai Zi landed, Shi Lei, who was wearing a mask, opened his mouth wide, but couldn’t even make a sound because of the severe pain coming from his lower body.

The middle-aged woman finally came back to her senses. She held her breath, and quietly moved her body towards the side of the operating table.

Bai Zi, who was bending over and staring at Shi Lei, didn’t notice the middle-aged woman’s actions. At this time, she was being “troubled” by another matter.

Although Shi Lei was wearing a protective suit and a mask, in Bai Zi’s eyes, Shi Lei’s face was constantly appearing on that covered face, all from various different fragments of memory.

In the end, these fragments condensed into a single thought in Bai Zi’s brain—tear him apart, tear this person apart.

Although Shi Lei was already on the verge of fainting due to the pain in his lower body, he couldn’t help but stare at Bai Zi’s eyes.

He felt that those dark eyes were like a vortex, sucking him in little by little.

By the operating table, the middle-aged woman picked up the remote control on the counter, and pressed a red button on it.

At the same time, a strong electric current ran through Bai Zi’s neck, and her body suddenly shook, sideways releasing Shi Lei from under her.

The middle-aged woman, holding the remote control, pressed the button, and staggered away from the laboratory.

Shi Lei also wanted to take the opportunity to escape, but the pain in his lower body made him unable to exert any strength. At this time, he found that Bai Zi, who was still being tortured by the electric shock, was slowly raising her hands, forcefully gripping the electric shock collar on her neck.

Then, the muscles on those thin arms suddenly tensed—she was trying to bend the electric shock collar with all her strength.

Shi Lei finally realized that he was no longer facing “Bai Zi,” but some kind of monster.

Ignoring the pain, he directly stretched out his arms, scratching at the tiles on the ground, using all his strength to crawl away from the operating room.

Soon, only Bai Zi was left in the room.

Although the electric current hadn’t stopped, the electric shock collar on Bai Zi’s throat had been bent into a “V” shape.

Then, she paused for a moment, and began to exert force in the opposite direction, and the “V” shape was gradually straightened out.

In less than half a minute, the electric shock collar was broken.

Bai Zi stood up, and casually threw the annoying thing to her feet.

The sound of metal hitting the ground was very harsh, just like the sound of the tires rubbing against the ground when the jeep suddenly stopped on the highway.

But as the driver, Meng Yilan was completely unaware, and she directly opened the door and got out of the car, quickly pulling the freckled woman in the back seat to the driver’s seat: “Repeat what I taught you.”

The freckled woman gripped the steering wheel tightly with her injured hand, but couldn’t help but tremble: “Drive, drive…”

Meng Yilan raised her eyebrows, and as if gently, covered the steering wheel, which was shaking slightly from side to side, with the hand holding the remote control.

“Drive into the gate, park the car,” the freckled woman immediately said, “Find two protective suits for you, let you put them on, take,.. take you to turn off the power, and, and take you to find that person.”

Meng Yilan nodded, and just as she released the steering wheel, the freckled woman said: “P-please…”

“You don’t need to beg me, just do your job well,” Meng Yilan didn’t listen to her finish, speaking. “As long as the person I’m looking for is safe and sound, you’ll naturally be able to get away safely.” After saying that, without waiting for the other party to reply, she took two steps back, and directly closed the car door.

The freckled woman didn’t dare to say anything more. She waited for Meng Yilan, Sister Hua, and Mao Mao to hide in the car, and then started the car again.

Soon, after driving over the bumpy gravel road, the car finally returned to the front of the prison gate.

The surroundings were silent, seemingly no different from the day they had left this place—obviously, the groups from “Black Bridge” and “Yongtai” hadn’t arrived, or rather, hadn’t arrived yet.

Realizing this, Sister Hua looked at Meng Yilan, who was hiding in the car with her, with a slightly uneasy expression, but the other party was calm, and was even closing her eyes to rest, as if she wasn’t worried about this at all.

As Meng Yilan had expected, the freckled woman drove the car into the prison gate very smoothly.

Passing through the patrolling guards, the jeep finally stopped in the same place it had stopped before. Then, the freckled woman got out of the car, and quickly walked into the building where Bai Zi was being held.

After less than ten minutes, she returned with two protective suits, avoiding the patrolling guards, and quickly returned to the car.

Meng Yilan and Sister Hua quickly changed clothes. Just as the two were about to get out of the car, they were stopped by Mao Mao, who was grabbing them and refusing to let them leave.

“Be good,” Meng Yilan rubbed Mao Mao’s round head. After confirming that there was no one nearby, she pushed open the car cover, and pointed to a small forest next to the car for Mao Mao to see. “Wait for us there.”

Mao Mao refused to move. Meng Yilan then took out a piece of candy from her pocket and stuffed it into its mouth, and bent down to Mao Mao’s ear and said softly: “When Bai Zi comes back, we’ll go back to Bei City together.”

Perhaps hearing the words “Bai Zi,” Mao Mao, with the candy in its mouth, finally slid out of the car with a reluctant expression, and then climbed up a tree with extremely quick movements.

The freckled woman, with Meng Yilan and Sister Hua, walked into the building, and was about to head towards the power distribution room, but was stopped by someone calling out from behind.

The three turned around, and saw a man walking towards them from the direction of the main entrance.

“You’re back so soon?” The man stopped in front of the three, asking.

The freckled woman forced a stiff smile: “Yes.”

The man frowned slightly, seemingly sensing something was wrong: “Did you take care of everything?”

The freckled woman nodded.

The man lowered his eyes, looking at the freckled woman’s hand, and saw that her palm was wrapped with a rag, as if she had been injured.

“What happened to your hand?” he immediately asked.

The freckled woman’s body trembled, but she tried to remain calm and said: “N-nothing, on the way back, I hurt myself while moving things at the supply station.”

The man stared at the freckled woman for a long while, and then moved his gaze to Meng Yilan behind her.

Although she was wearing a protective suit, Meng Yilan was obviously outstanding because of her tall figure.

“I don’t seem to have seen you before?” The man muttered with a slightly confused expression.

Meng Yilan didn’t reply. The freckled woman coughed hastily: “They’re new colleagues who joined us a few days ago, when Mr. Liu and I went out…I still have to take them to hand over some things, or it’ll delay things.”

Saying that, the freckled woman turned around, wanting to lead the people away, but the man stopped the three of them, looking persistent: “You two take off your masks first.”

The freckled woman froze in place, not knowing how to respond.

After a few dozen seconds of stalemate, Meng Yilan finally slowly raised her hand, as if she was about to take off her mask.

Just as she was about to touch her cheek, two patrolmen ran quickly to the man’s side, and whispered something in his ear. The man’s expression immediately turned serious: “Yongtai? What are they doing here?”

Then, the man no longer paid attention to Meng Yilan and the others, and ran towards the prison gate with the two patrolmen.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the freckled woman turned around, leading Meng Yilan and Sister Hua to the power distribution room on the first basement level in a hurry.

“This is the power supply for the entire building. The main switch is there,” The freckled woman pointed to a yellow switch, and said in a low voice, “The person you’re looking for is locked in the second basement level. After turning off the switch, the elevator won’t work. Just take the stairs.”

Meng Yilan didn’t reply, and directly pulled down the yellow switch. Then, she took out a dagger, and cut all the exposed wires in several places.

The surroundings fell into darkness. Meng Yilan and Sister Hua took out the flashlights and handguns that they had prepared in advance, and quickly walked towards the second basement level with the freckled woman.

If everything went smoothly, they could directly take Bai Zi and escape this place.

But it seemed that as long as something was related to Bai Zi, something unexpected would always happen.

Just as she walked out of the stairwell, Meng Yilan discovered that a female corpse wearing a protective suit, but covered in blood, was lying in front of the elevator entrance not far away.

At first glance, it was impossible to tell where the female corpse’s fatal wound was. One could only see that her abdomen seemed to have been torn open by the claws of a beast, and the five bloody marks were very horrifying.

“Her head.” Sister Hua said softly.

It turned out that this female corpse wasn’t simply lying face up on the ground. Her head had been twisted one hundred and eighty degrees, so that although her face was facing up, her neck down was actually her back.

Meng Yilan squatted down, and pulled out something that the female corpse was holding in her hand.

It was a remote control that looked quite familiar.

Looking thoughtful, Meng Yilan pursed her lips, and then quickly stepped over the corpse, leading Sister Hua and the freckled woman to continue walking along the corridor, carefully looking at the signs on the doors on both sides.

The further she walked, the more Meng Yilan’s heart sank.

The entire second basement level was like a disaster scene that had been swept through by a storm, with various sundries scattered everywhere.

But despite this, the doors on both sides were locked tightly, as if they hadn’t been invaded by the “storm.”

Until the three walked to a door that was open, they finally stopped.

The room was empty.

“If she’s not here,” The freckled woman said a little flustered, “Then she should be in the operating room. However, something might have happened during the surgery…”

“Where is it?” Meng Yilan asked directly.

The freckled woman turned around, leading the three towards the end of the corridor, but on the way, they heard a few faint cries for help.

A person with a bent back suddenly walked out of a closet that was half-open. This person was wearing a protective suit, and was obviously very weak: “She, she’s a monster, quickly, quickly catch her…”

Before the freckled woman could ask, Meng Yilan raised her hand, and pulled off this person’s mask—it was Shi Lei.

At the same time, a loud noise came from above them.
