“Who’s calling you?” You Yuyi, who had also heard the shout, asked.

“Meng Yilan.” Bai Zi replied without thinking, not caring whether the other party knew who “Meng Yilan” was.

You Yuyi was slightly stunned upon hearing this name, and then, seeing the smile on Bai Zi’s face, she understood: “You two have a good relationship?”

Bai Zi still had a smile on her face, but she shook her head.

This strange reaction confused You Yuyi, but before she could continue to ask, Bai Zi, who had been saying that she was going to rot to death here, had actually started to lie on the pile of sand and rocks, using her bare hands to push the sand and rocks outwards.

“Are you crazy?” Although You Yuyi also wanted to leave, with such a serious accident like a tunnel collapse, it was impossible for them to successfully rescue themselves by digging with their bare hands. Even if they dug until their fingers turned into bones, they wouldn’t be able to dig through the blocked tunnel.

But Bai Zi was still lying on the sand and soil, constantly pawing, and spared some attention to remind You Yuyi: “Look up, by the wall.”

You Yuyi was stunned, and turned her head to look by the wall.

She saw that the falling sand and rocks had blocked the entire wall tightly, without leaving a single gap, and couldn’t see anything strange.

She was about to open her mouth to ask again, but at the moment she looked up, she saw a sharp corner slightly exposed between the wall and the sand and soil.

You Yuyi immediately understood—that was a fire escape door that had been blocked by sand and rocks.

“The door opens inward,” Bai Zi said, “You just need to dig out the doorknob to open the door.”

Hearing Bai Zi’s words, You Yuyi didn’t say anything more, and immediately knelt on the pile of sand and soil, and together with Bai Zi, desperately dug near that door.

The two no longer heard Meng Yilan’s shouts. She didn’t know if they had given up on the rescue or were trying to dig through the tunnel, but Bai Zi didn’t care about those things. What she cared about was that Meng Yilan had come to find her.

Since that was the case, then she had to return to Meng Yilan’s side.

When the two were exhausted, the complete doorknob was finally revealed in the sand and soil. Bai Zi immediately reached out, trying to twist it.

It didn’t budge.

The door was locked.

You Yuyi, who was already so tired that she couldn’t even speak, collapsed to the ground, both physically and mentally exhausted.

Bai Zi, whose fingers had been dug until they were bleeding, still refused to give up. She raised her foot and kicked the doorknob with force, the force even causing sand and rocks to fall from the cracks in the ceiling again.

“Don’t kick it,” You Yuyi quickly stopped her. “It will cause a second collapse…”

Bai Zi, however, didn’t care, and kicked the doorknob hard again.

“I must…” Bai Zi gritted her teeth and said in a deep voice, “Leave this place.”

She had to, and definitely had to, return to Meng Yilan’s side.

Bai Zi shook off You Yuyi, who was pulling on her sleeve, and raised her foot again, stepping towards the door panel with force.

It was so rare to be able to have a tiny bit of space in Meng Yilan’s heart.

More and more sand and rocks were falling, but Bai Zi became more and more agitated, as if she had completely forgotten everything around her, only focusing on kicking the door open.

If she couldn’t leave, then Meng Yilan wouldn’t be able to use her to exchange for Lin Quwei.

You Yuyi could only stand aside helplessly. She knew that she couldn’t stop Bai Zi at this time, so she could only turn sideways, dodging the stones that might fall from above her head at any time.

Looking at the lock that had already been kicked crooked, Bai Zi gritted her teeth, and once again stepped hard on the door.

Since she was the “goods” that Meng Yilan had worked so hard to find, then she had to fulfill the responsibility that a “goods” should fulfill.

She would absolutely not let Meng Yilan lose the person most important to her.

Once again, Bai Zi raised her foot and stepped hard on the lock. A bone-piercing pain came from the bottom of her foot, and then, the lock loosened.

The door opened.

At the same time, a large amount of scattered stones fell from the ceiling, Bai Zi pulled You Yuyi, and pounced into the door.

Almost in an instant, the place where the two had been standing just now was completely covered by a large amount of falling sand and rocks, and even surged into the fire escape door like a flood.

Bai Zi and You Yuyi didn’t dare to stay any longer. They followed the passage, desperately running forward quickly, not caring where this road would lead.

Bai Zi didn’t know how long she had been running with You Yuyi. With every step she took, the pain in her feet deepened. By the time she was completely unable to feel the stinging pain in her feet due to numbness, she finally saw another door at the end of the road.

Behind the door, there was a dark tunnel, and tracks covered with stagnant water.

Before the two could catch their breath, the sound of talking came from the depths of the tunnel again.

“Miss Meng, even if we dig it out, she’s definitely dead!”

You Yuyi was puzzled, but saw Bai Zi’s body tremble suddenly, and then run towards the direction of the sound regardless of everything.

Extremely confused, You Yuyi also gritted her teeth, and followed closely behind.

The two ran desperately along the tracks, and finally, light came from the darkness, and several long shadows were reflected on the walls of the tunnel, and the sound of talking became clearer and clearer.

Bai Zi heard Meng Yilan’s voice, her tone steady but unquestionable: “Even if she’s dead, we have to dig her out.”

Finally, one of the people turned around and pointed a gun at the two of them: “Who?!”

Bai Zi and You Yuyi stopped, and several beams of light immediately hit the two of them. The blinding light made it impossible for Bai Zi to even open her eyes, but she could clearly hear that person’s voice.

“Bai Zi?”

Standing obediently in place, Bai Zi uncontrollably smiled at the tall and thin figure in the distance.

“You are…”

You Yuyi, panting, answered briefly, “You Yuyi.”

Shi Lei also walked to the two people’s side, and cautiously scrutinized the condition of Bai Zi and You Yuyi.

Completely ignoring Fatty Qiu and Shi Lei, Bai Zi’s eyes were fixed on that person who was slowly walking towards her from in front of the pile of sand and soil in the distance.

Over the years, Bai Zi had seen Meng Yilan in countless occasions with various glamorous outfits, dashing, elegant, dignified, and outstanding. She had deeply engraved every Meng Yilan in her mind.

But she had never seen Meng Yilan, as disheveled as she was now.

Although she had a ponytail, a few strands of long hair were scattered on her forehead, covering half of her face. She was only wearing two thin shirts on her upper body, which had been soaked by sewage. The once warm cotton pants were now covered in mud, clinging tightly to her long legs.

But her disheveled appearance couldn’t completely hide the elegant aura that Meng Yilan herself exuded. She was like a proud princess in distress, her slender back straight, carrying a shovel, and walking slowly towards Bai Zi.

Bai Zi couldn’t bear it any longer. She couldn’t wait to walk forward, and chuckled softly: “I found You Xin’s cousin.”

Standing behind, watching this scene, You Yuyi frowned slightly. She clearly saw that the rabbit, who should have been both obedient and wild, had now turned into a docile hound, wagging its tail proudly in front of its master.

Meng Yilan, who was imagined by You Yuyi to be the owner of the hound, stood in place, and didn’t say a word. There wasn’t any expression on that clear and cold face either.

She only lowered her head slightly, squinting her peach blossom eyes, staring at Bai Zi in front of her, who was covered in wounds—there was a clear wound on her head, and blood was flowing down, dyeing the scars around her left eye red. Besides the scratches on her face, her hands and feet were covered with countless scratches, and even small pieces of sand and soil were embedded in the wounds, making it unbearable to look at. Only that right eye, which was looking at her, was still so clear and pure.

No one noticed that Meng Yilan slightly raised her right hand, but then put it down immediately.

In the end, she lowered her eyes: “Let’s go.”

Then, she carried the shovel, brushed past Bai Zi sideways, as if she didn’t care about her at all, and walked back step by step along the tracks, wading through the stagnant water.

Everyone tacitly stopped talking, and followed Meng Yilan, retreating along the tracks in the opposite direction. Only the smile on Bai Zi’s face hadn’t faded. She was covered in wounds, but she walked back to the subway station with You Yuyi in a leisurely manner, as if nothing had happened.

The situation in the station was no different from when Bai Zi had left.

Uncle Wang was still tied up in the corner, and hadn’t woken up yet.

As soon as Mao Mao saw Bai Zi, it was as if it had seen its own mother, dragging the tattered blanket, and pounced on Bai Zi regardless of everything.

Having used all her strength to smash the door, Bai Zi was now exhausted. She couldn’t bear Mao Mao’s weight, and lost her balance, sitting down by the corner of the wall.

Fatty Qiu led Feitian to sit next to Uncle Wang, who was still unconscious, trying his best to reduce his presence.

You Yuyi was led by Meng Yilan to You Xin’s side. With Sister Hua’s help, You Yuyi immediately carefully checked the other party’s injuries, and then skillfully found the medical supplies that had been hidden in various places in the subway station.

After glancing at You Yuyi, who was stitching up You Xin’s wound, Meng Yilan carried a few pieces of clean clothing, and walked towards the corner of the wall.

Bai Zi, who hadn’t closed her eyes for several days, was now leaning against the corner of the wall, resting wearily with her eyes closed.

Under the light, Bai Zi’s disheveled appearance was clearer. A wound on her head bled, dyeing her face red. Besides face scratches, her hands and feet had countless scratches, with sand and soil in the wounds, making it unbearable to look at.

Hearing footsteps approaching, Bai Zi immediately opened her eyes, and seeing Meng Yilan standing in front of her, she smiled again.

Looking at Bai Zi, who was covered in wounds, showing such a pure smile to her, a strong sense of sadness rose in Meng Yilan’s heart, but what she said was slightly harsh: “Don’t smile, it’s not good-looking.”

Bai Zi was stunned, and immediately restrained her smile, but the smile between her eyebrows still hadn’t faded.

Meng Yilan stuffed the clean clothes in her hand to the other party: “Change to them.”

“What about you?” Bai Zi frowned.

“Why do you care so much?” Meng Yilan’s face was as cold as an ice lake.

Bai Zi looked at Meng Yilan, who was also soaked: “But…”

Meng Yilan simply bent down, grabbed the other party’s hand in one fell swoop, personally pulled her up, and then took a big step, dragging Bai Zi to the entrance of the toilet.

Seeing that Bai Zi was still standing in place, unwilling to move, Meng Yilan couldn’t help but blurt out: “Let’s change together.”

Bai Zi was stunned, and Meng Yilan immediately added: “There are stalls inside.”

Then, she forcibly pushed the dazed Bai Zi into the toilet stall, and while patting Mao Mao to the outside of the toilet, she sternly instructed Bai Zi: “There’s water inside, wash your body first.”

Bai Zi faced the toilet door that had been slammed shut, and didn’t come back to her senses for a long time.

Listening to the sound of the door closing from the stall next door, followed by the rustling sound of undressing, Bai Zi quickly collected her attention, and also quickly took off the clothes and pants on her body.

Looking at the countless large and small wounds all over her body, Bai Zi didn’t feel any sadness at all, until she saw the bite wound on her right arm, which was even more red and swollen than it had been in the tunnel, and even oozing pus, no different from when it had just been bitten, that she was suddenly stunned in place.

At this time, she remembered the sentence that You Yuyi had said to her—For people like us, if we don’t drink that stuff for a day, our bodies will start to decay faster.

“Your wound, will it get better?” Meng Yilan’s voice suddenly came from next door, but her tone was no longer as cold as it had been just now. “Like before, would it suddenly…disappear.”

Meng Yilan was referring to the bloodstain that had been severely scratched on Bai Zi’s elbow after the two had slid down from the high pipe in the zoo, which had appeared but then quickly disappeared.

Bai Zi looked at her body, and couldn’t answer for a moment.

If what You Yuyi had said was true, then my current wound would not only not get better, but would also get worse and worse.

Meng Yilan probably couldn’t stand having such a terrifying and disgusting monster by her side.

Hopefully, she could exchange Lin Quwei out before she became so unsightly and still had the ability to act.

“Bai Zi?” Seeing that Bai Zi hadn’t responded for a long time, Meng Yilan called out again.

Finally coming back to her senses, Bai Zi replied hastily: “Huh?”

“I’m asking you a question,” Meng Yilan’s tone was a little impatient. “Will your wound get better?”

“Yes,” This time, Bai Zi replied quickly, “It will get better.”

Saying this, she lowered her body, scooped up water, and quickly washed her body.

The two returned to the platform with Mao Mao. At this time, Fatty Qiu and Feitian were sitting next to Wang Bo, who was still unconscious, piecing together Lego bricks that they didn’t know where they had found, Sister Hua was sitting by the pillar, wiping her handgun, and You Xin was lying on the sofa, sleeping soundly. Her abdominal wound had obviously been treated, and her face was no longer pale. You Yuyi had also washed her body and changed her clothes.

At this time, Bai Zi truly saw You Yuyi’s appearance clearly.

She had the kind of beauty that would attract the attention of people around her at once, but unlike Meng Yilan, You Yuyi’s features were more three-dimensional, leaning towards a European appearance. She was of medium height, and her face always had a soft smile, making her temperament seem warmer and more approachable.

Seeing Bai Zi and Meng Yilan, You Yuyi immediately stood up and came to the two of them: “Thank you, otherwise, You Xin and I wouldn’t have survived.”

Meng Yilan returned a polite smile, but didn’t speak.

You Yuyi turned her head, and said to Bai Zi: “Wild rabbit, come with me for a moment.”

Wild rabbit?

The smile on Meng Yilan’s face instantly froze.

Bai Zi was even more confused.

“I’ll help you treat your wounds.” You Yuyi smiled at Meng Yilan again, and then pulled Bai Zi, who was next to Meng Yilan, towards the stove without saying a word.

Mao Mao dragged the blanket with her feet, and followed Bai Zi slowly.

Watching Bai Zi leave with You Yuyi like a puppet, without any resistance, Meng Yilan couldn’t help but frown.
