It was around 8 PM when Shen Xian received a call from Jiang Xi. As soon as she answered, deafening noise blasted through the phone.

“Xiao Xi, where are you? Why is it so loud?” Shen Xian asked.

“Sis, today’s my birthday. I’m at the bar with my friends. Come join us too,” Jiang Xi’s voice drifted in and out, clearly tipsy from drinking.

Shen Xian frowned slightly and asked, “How much have you had to drink? Where are you? I’ll come pick you up.” She couldn’t help but feel worried for Jiang Xi — after all, it was already late, and it wasn’t exactly safe for a girl to be out at a bar alone.

“Qinghan, I’m heading out for a bit. Looks like Xiao Xi’s had too much to drink. I’ll bring her home and be back soon,” Shen Xian told Lin Qinghan, who was sitting on the sofa watching TV.

“Alright, be careful,” Lin Qinghan replied casually without even looking at her, flipping through the channels as she spoke.

Seeing that Lin Qinghan had nothing more to say, Shen Xian grabbed her car keys and quickly left the house.

Back on the sofa, Lin Qinghan tightened her grip on the remote. Ever since Shen Xian picked up that call, she hadn’t been able to pay attention to the TV. Her mind had been completely distracted by the conversation.

Especially when she heard that it was Jiang Xi calling Shen Xian again, a faint uneasiness crept into Lin Qinghan’s chest. But the two of them were already divorced — Lin Qinghan didn’t want to think about why she was feeling irritated or upset. Annoyed, she kept changing the channels, though she was really just staring blankly at the screen.

As soon as Shen Xian stepped into the bar Jiang Xi mentioned, her brows furrowed tightly. Even in her past life, she never liked going to bars — she always found places like this unbearably loud. Suppressing her discomfort, Shen Xian searched the crowd for quite a while before finally spotting Jiang Xi.

Wasting no time, Shen Xian squeezed her way through the dance floor. Along the way, a male omega even winked flirtatiously at her, sending chills down her spine. She quickly explained that her child was already nearly four years old before pushing past the crowd to reach Jiang Xi’s booth.

There, she saw Jiang Xi slumped over the table, obviously drunk, surrounded by six or seven men and women.

One of the men even had his arm draped over Jiang Xi’s shoulders, making Shen Xian frown. She walked over and brushed the man’s arm aside.

“Who the hell are you? Touching me?” The man, known as Kaizi, was a notorious playboy in their social circle.

Shen Xian stared him down fearlessly. “I’m her sister. Show some respect — don’t touch her.”

“What’s your problem? We’re all friends here. We only came because Xiao Xi invited us to celebrate her birthday. So now we’re the bad guys just because you showed up?” Kaizi protested as he stood up.

Shen Xian grabbed the wine bottle from Jiang Xi’s hand and bent down to say, “Xiao Xi, stop drinking. Look at you — you’re already this drunk. I’ll take you home.”

Jiang Xi pushed Shen Xian’s hand away and mumbled as she lay on the table, “Sis, it’s fine. I know everyone here. Besides… besides, I don’t want to go home. My parents and brother are all abroad. There’s no one to celebrate my birthday with, so I came out with my friends.”

“What about Miss Mu? Didn’t you ask her to come?” Shen Xian recalled that Mu Siyu and Jiang Xi were the closest. Since it was Jiang Xi’s birthday, surely Mu Siyu would know.

It would’ve been better if Shen Xian hadn’t brought up Mu Siyu. At the mention of her name, Jiang Xi’s tears immediately started falling. “She hasn’t talked to me for days. She doesn’t want me anymore.”

Shen Xian quickly stood up to grab tissues and wipe Jiang Xi’s tears, regretting that she asked. Great, now Jiang Xi would be even more unwilling to go home.

Left with no choice, Shen Xian pulled out her phone. The last time they had dinner together, Mu Siyu had given her number to Shen Xian, but since they barely interacted, Shen Xian had never used it. Seeing Jiang Xi like this, Shen Xian guessed the two probably had a falling out.

She walked a little farther away and called Mu Siyu.

“Miss Mu, this is Shen Xian. Xiao Xi’s at the bar. If you’re free, could you come check on her? She’s had a lot to drink. Did you two have a fight?” Shen Xian raised her voice over the blaring music.

Mu Siyu had been feeling frustrated these past few days. It started with Jiang Xi bombarding her with texts and calls, then suddenly, Jiang Xi stopped contacting her altogether.

“Miss Shen, please look after her for me. I’ll be right there,” Mu Siyu’s heart tightened at the mention of Jiang Xi drinking heavily. All her thoughts about making Jiang Xi figure out her feelings were immediately thrown aside — Mu Siyu only cared that Jiang Xi was safe.

Barely ten minutes later, Mu Siyu arrived at the bar. She had been going through documents at the office and didn’t even have time to change clothes, rushing over in a tailored designer suit that looked completely out of place in the chaotic bar.

The friends Jiang Xi was with instantly quieted when they saw Mu Siyu. After all, they were all living off their parents, while Mu Siyu was now the head of the Mu family business.

Seeing Mu Siyu arrive, Shen Xian quickly stepped aside, letting her sit beside Jiang Xi.

In just that short amount of time, Jiang Xi had gotten so drunk she couldn’t even open her eyes, mumbling incoherently with her head buried on the table.

Mu Siyu gently reached out and rubbed the top of Jiang Xi’s head. “Xiao Xi, why did you drink so much? Are you feeling unwell?”

Even in her drunken state, Jiang Xi recognized Mu Siyu’s voice. Sniffling, she lifted her head, “Sister Mu? Didn’t you not want me anymore?” As she spoke, tears streamed down her face. “I even messaged you today. Today’s my birthday. You never forget my birthday. You’re always the first one to wish me happy birthday every year. But this year… you ignored me… Xiao Xi doesn’t know what she did wrong… Sister Mu, please don’t be mad anymore, okay?”

Jiang Xi’s head was pounding, and seeing Mu Siyu so close, she curled up into Mu Siyu’s arms, wrapping her arms tightly around her neck, sobbing and rambling incoherently.

The others, including Shen Xian, awkwardly exchanged glances, clearly out of place now that the two were having such an emotional exchange.

Mu Siyu held Jiang Xi with one arm, gently rubbing her back and coaxing softly, “Xiao Xi, you didn’t do anything wrong. It’s my fault. Don’t cry, alright?”

Jiang Xi buried her face deeper into Mu Siyu’s embrace, mumbling, “Then I’m not going home. I want to sleep with my sister tonight.”

Mu Siyu sighed and responded, “Alright, you can do whatever you want, but you can’t drink anymore. Otherwise, you’ll feel awful tonight.”

Shen Xian broke the awkward silence first, “Miss Mu, if there’s nothing else, we’ll be leaving now.”

It was only then that Mu Siyu remembered Shen Xian and Jiang Xi’s other friends were still there. “You guys go ahead, Miss Shen. Thanks for looking after Xiao Xi today.”

Shen Xian waved her hand casually, “It’s nothing, we’re all sisters, taking care of each other is only natural. Oh, and remember to settle the bill before you leave.” Shen Xian glanced at the expenses here, then looked at the amount of alcohol Jiang Xi drank — just this short while and over a hundred thousand yuan was gone already. Since Mu Siyu had the money, she might as well pay for it. Shen Xian still had to save up for her kid’s tuition, after all.

Mu Siyu gave Shen Xian a long, steady look before finally saying, “Alright.”

It wasn’t the bill remark that surprised Mu Siyu, but rather the “sisters” comment. So deep down, Shen Xian actually saw herself as an Omega? For a moment, Mu Siyu was completely thrown off by Shen Xian.

But Mu Siyu didn’t have time to dwell on it. After all, she was still holding onto the restless Jiang Xi in her arms. Mu Siyu called over the bar manager, settled the bill, and then helped the swaying Jiang Xi to her feet.

Mu Siyu had a driver waiting outside, with a security car following behind. She helped Jiang Xi into the back seat and got in from the other side herself.

As soon as Mu Siyu got in the car, Jiang Xi clung to her. Mu Siyu gently brought the warm water her assistant had brought to Jiang Xi’s lips, coaxing her softly, “Xiao Xi, drink some water first, or you’ll have a terrible headache later tonight.”

Even though Jiang Xi’s head was already pounding, she obediently opened her mouth and took small sips of the warm water from Mu Siyu’s hand. Seeing Jiang Xi being so cooperative, Mu Siyu held her with one arm while tearing open the sobering pill prepared by her assistant with the other. She placed one pill into her palm.

“Xiao Xi, take this pill too, okay? Otherwise, you’ll definitely feel horrible tomorrow.” Mu Siyu softened her voice, coaxing Jiang Xi gently. Jiang Xi, still dizzy and seeing double, looked at the pill in Mu Siyu’s hand, hesitated for a moment, then obediently leaned down and grabbed Mu Siyu’s hand with both of hers. Just as Mu Siyu froze for a second, she felt something soft against her palm.

Jiang Xi had already used the tip of her tongue to roll the pill into her mouth. Suppressing the flutter in her chest, Mu Siyu quickly brought the cup to Jiang Xi’s lips. “Xiao Xi, drink some water to help it go down.”

Jiang Xi obediently swallowed the pill, then rested her head on Mu Siyu’s shoulder and quickly drifted off to sleep.

Looking at the sleeping Jiang Xi, Mu Siyu felt a pang of heartache. She really had been too impatient lately. This silly little girl must’ve cried a lot these past few days because of her.

About half an hour later, the car stopped at Mu Siyu’s villa. Jiang Xi was still sound asleep. Mu Siyu decisively slipped off her high heels, set them aside, and carried the deeply asleep Jiang Xi in her arms, bringing her all the way to her bedroom.

Mu Siyu carefully removed Jiang Xi’s makeup, helped her take off her shoes and socks to make her more comfortable, but didn’t dare touch any more of her clothing. Jiang Xi usually disliked wearing pheromone blockers, and by now the air faintly carried a sweet lychee scent. Mu Siyu turned on the ventilation fan, sprayed the room with pheromone blockers, then changed into her pajamas. She brought her laptop onto the bed — there were still a few urgent project proposals she needed to review. But afraid Jiang Xi might wake up and not see her, Mu Siyu simply worked from the bed.

Around 1 a.m., Jiang Xi slowly woke up, probably feeling better thanks to the sobering pill — the headache wasn’t as bad. As she opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was Mu Siyu still working beside her.

Watching Mu Siyu so focused on her laptop, Jiang Xi couldn’t help but feel a little jealous of that computer. Quietly, she crawled over and wrapped her arms around Mu Siyu’s waist from behind, whining softly, “Sister Mu, you didn’t even help Xiao Xi change clothes.”

“Xiao Xi’s not a kid anymore, you should change your own clothes. Does your head still hurt?” Mu Siyu asked.

Hearing that, Jiang Xi pouted with grievance and nodded slightly, “It hurts so much… Sister Mu doesn’t even care about me. You always prepare gifts for me every year, but this year you didn’t even say happy birthday. I waited for you all night last night… and didn’t even get a message.”

The more Jiang Xi spoke, the more aggrieved she felt. Eventually, she burst into tears, clinging to Mu Siyu. Seeing Jiang Xi cry, Mu Siyu didn’t care about work anymore. She tossed her laptop aside and gently rubbed Jiang Xi’s back to comfort her, “It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have treated Xiao Xi that way. Come here, let me see where it hurts.”

Jiang Xi rubbed her face against Mu Siyu’s neck, her voice muffled as she complained, “It all hurts. It’s all Sister Mu’s fault. Xiao Xi’s hurting so bad…”

“Okay, let me massage it for you, alright?” Mu Siyu gently massaged both sides of Jiang Xi’s head while saying softly, “Actually, I did prepare a gift for you. I just haven’t given it to you yet.”

Hearing that, Jiang Xi immediately opened her eyes wide and grabbed Mu Siyu’s hand, asking eagerly, “Then where’s my gift? Where did Sister Mu hide it?”

Mu Siyu held Jiang Xi firmly in her arms, staring at her for a moment, “Xiao Xi, do you really want it?”

Jiang Xi’s eyes sparkled as she nodded enthusiastically. She had originally planned to make Mu Siyu coax her longer, but seeing that Sister Mu hadn’t forgotten her birthday after all, she was ready to forgive Mu Siyu — maybe even stay over for a few more days.

Mu Siyu’s lips curled into a faint smile as she leaned in, closing the distance between them. Their faces drew closer and closer until even their noses touched. Finally, Mu Siyu pressed a kiss to Jiang Xi’s lips.

Jiang Xi’s mind went completely blank. Sister Mu… just kissed her? And it was on the lips?

Jiang Xi’s face turned visibly red as she stammered, “Sister… what does this mean?”

“It’s your birthday gift,” Mu Siyu said, her gaze fixed on Jiang Xi’s flushed face as she continued, “I’m giving myself to Xiao Xi. From now on, you’ll have your own Alpha.”

Jiang Xi’s mind was in complete chaos. So… Sister Mu meant she wanted to be her Alpha?

Jiang Xi sat across from Mu Siyu, struggling internally for a long while. In the end, her gaze landed on Mu Siyu’s lips as she muttered softly, “I didn’t even feel it just now… That was my first kiss…”

Mu Siyu, speaking as if seeking her opinion, gently coaxed, “Alright, it was my fault. I was too impatient just now. This time, let’s take it slow, okay?” But even as she spoke, she leaned in and kissed her again. Unlike the quick peck from before, this kiss carried a hint of dominance. How could Jiang Xi possibly withstand that? Her body immediately softened in Mu Siyu’s arms. It wasn’t until Mu Siyu noticed Jiang Xi’s breathing becoming unsteady that she finally let her go.

Jiang Xi leaned against Mu Siyu, gasping for breath. Mu Siyu gently stroked Jiang Xi’s hair and asked softly, “Does Xiao Xi like this?”

Jiang Xi buried her face in Mu Siyu’s embrace and gave a small nod.

Mu Siyu’s eyes softened even more as she looked at Jiang Xi. “Besides myself, I also prepared another gift for you,” she said, reaching for a small box on the nightstand. She placed the box in Jiang Xi’s hand and whispered coaxingly by her ear, “Open it and take a look.”

Jiang Xi slowly lifted her head, suppressing her shyness as she opened the small box. Inside was a ring. At first glance, the diamond looked like a small lychee, set atop a platinum band that made the diamond sparkle even more brilliantly.

“Rings aren’t something you give to just anyone. Has Xiao Xi really thought it through and decided to accept it?” Mu Siyu asked as she held the ring in her hand.

Jiang Xi looked at the ring, then at Mu Siyu, and still nodded.

Mu Siyu slipped the ring onto Jiang Xi’s index finger.

Jiang Xi asked in confusion, “Sister, isn’t it supposed to go on the ring finger?”

Mu Siyu gently kissed Jiang Xi’s forehead and smiled, “Does Xiao Xi want me to propose right now?”

Jiang Xi’s face turned completely red at her words. She buried her face in Mu Siyu’s arms, refusing to lift her head, mumbling softly in protest, “I wasn’t saying that… It’s Sister Mu bullying me…”

Mu Siyu gently patted Jiang Xi’s back and coaxed, “Alright, it’s my fault. This is all too simple for now. When I really propose, I’ll make sure the whole world knows that Xiao Xi is my beloved little princess.”

Jiang Xi blushed so much that even the tips of her ears turned red. “Sister, stop saying that… I’m ignoring you…”

“Okay, I’ll stop. It’s almost three o’clock. Go take a shower, we should sleep soon.”

Jiang Xi nodded and hurried off, practically fleeing.

When Jiang Xi finished showering and came out in her pajamas, she saw Mu Siyu leaning on the bed watching her, which instantly turned Jiang Xi’s ears bright red.

Mu Siyu looked at her with amusement and teased, “Didn’t Xiao Xi used to love clinging to me when we slept together? Why aren’t you coming over now?”

As Jiang Xi walked toward the bed, she mumbled softly, “That’s different… Back then, it was just with Sister… but now… now it’s with…”

“With what?” Mu Siyu chuckled as she pulled Jiang Xi, who had just gotten into bed, into her arms. She pressed a light kiss to the corner of Jiang Xi’s lips. “Xiao Xi, goodnight.”

“Goodnight, Sister…”

Og TL Note: feel a little frustrated by this tbh, a little communication would’ve fixed stuff here (for the secondary cp/couple) but sadly misunderstandings like this also happens in real life when one of the parties aren’t willing/aren’t direct/clear enough to say what they feel (ᗒᗣᗕ)՞

Seriously, a little communication goes a long way (is that how the saying goes? I think its close enough lol) (*´▽`*)
