Mo Chuan, who had been walking over aggressively, froze in place.

The actions of the two drew the attention of onlookers. Some people even prepared to take out their phones to snap pictures, but were immediately stopped by bodyguards hidden in the shadows.

Li Nuo was startled. Although it wasn’t an actual kiss, Qin Xu was so close that it made him instinctively want to back away.

However, the hand on the back of his head stopped him. He could only blink and stare at Qin Xu’s face in front of him. To be honest, the distance was so close that it was hard to see clearly.

It wasn’t until he was pulled away by a force from behind that he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He was being held tightly in someone’s arms.

It was a real, forceful hug, almost to the point of being a chokehold.

He didn’t struggle.

This outfit… seems like…

Realizing it was the outfit he had picked for Mo Chuan that morning, he quickly looked up and froze.

It was probably the first time he had seen such a furious expression on Mo Chuan’s face, as if he wanted to tear someone apart.

“Are you crazy?!”

Qin Xu sneered indifferently.

Mo Chuan looked even angrier, clenching his fists tightly as if he wanted to rush over and punch someone.

Afraid he might act on impulse, Li Nuo hurriedly held his clenched fist and softly tried to calm him, “Let’s just leave here first.”

Seeing more and more people gathering, Mo Chuan took a deep breath, took off his coat, and covered Li Nuo entirely, including his head. He said in a low voice, “Wrap your arms around my neck.”

After saying this, he directly picked Li Nuo up. Leaving behind only the sentence “Handle this properly,” he quickly walked away.

Although he wasn’t a celebrity, Qin Xu was still the chairman of a large corporation. If news of this spread and implicated Li Nuo, that would be bad.

Even while carrying Li Nuo, Mo Chuan didn’t slow down at all. With his long legs striding, he quickly reached the parking lot.

Only then did he put Li Nuo down. As the coat was lifted, the first thing Li Nuo said was, “It wasn’t even a kiss! Brother Qin blocked with his hand!”

Still fuming and ready to “demand an explanation,” Mo Chuan was suddenly stunned.

Li Nuo tugged on his sleeve and continued defending himself, “You didn’t see from behind, but everyone around did. You can ask them if you don’t believe me.”

Mo Chuan wiped his face and came back to his senses, cursing, “Seriously? Is he nuts? Just trying to mess with my head?!”

God knows, seeing his lover “kissing” someone else made his heart go cold.

After that coldness came a surge of heat, the kind that made him want to punch Qin Xu into the ground.

It had been a long time since he was angry with Qin Xu, and he was ready to make a scene. But then he was told that the guy was just messing with him.

Crazy! What a psycho!

He cursed his friend a few times in his mind, still a little shaken. He swore that the next time he saw Qin Xu at the office, he’d give him a solid kick.

He looked at Li Nuo helplessly. “And you even gave him your phone. He sent me a ‘Get lost’ message.”

“…You sent him one yesterday too, and even deleted it afterward. So this is karma. By the way, Brother Qin deleted his too,” Li Nuo said without backing down at all. “I’ve figured it out. You two treat my phone like your own. No respect for privacy whatsoever.”

“…Fine, this is karma. But you even had lunch with him!”

Mo Chuan sounded a little aggrieved. He had planned the whole day’s schedule with Li Nuo, and even reserved a restaurant for lunch, and it was all ruined by Qin Xu.

He hadn’t eaten a single bite until now!

Li Nuo pulled him and explained, “I thought it would be better to make things clear with Brother Qin, so I agreed. I’m sorry. Since we’re already living together, just let me off this time.”

“So did you explain everything clearly?” Mo Chuan’s eyes lit up as he immediately grasped the key point.

“Mm.” Li Nuo felt a little guilty for saying it, but honestly, Qin Xu had startled him too.

“I rejected him very clearly.”

Mo Chuan instantly became delighted, grinning from ear to ear.

Since Qin Xu had already lost in love, he figured he could show the guy a little pity. Maybe he’d skip the kick and just give him a fierce glare instead.

Ah, I’m really a good friend. Where else can Qin Xu find someone like me?

After silently giving himself a thumbs-up,

He expressed his happiness through action. He picked up Li Nuo and spun him around.

Li Nuo was startled by the sudden move and reflexively wrapped his arms around Mo Chuan’s neck.

“…You’re just like a child…” Li Nuo said helplessly.

Once he started feeling dizzy, he slapped Mo Chuan’s arm hard, “Stop! I’m getting dizzy, and people are watching.”

Only then did Mo Chuan put him down, though he still held onto him, smiling foolishly.

He was feeling overjoyed inside. Li Nuo had firmly chosen him, and that made him happier than anything else.

After all, his biggest love rival was Qin Xu.

Now he didn’t have to worry about anyone else coming to steal the flower.

“Let’s go home.”

“Mm.”

By the time Qin Xu came out, he happened to see Mo Chuan’s car driving away.

He shook his head and also got into his car to head home.

He was in a bad mood and didn’t feel like working for now, so he decided to go home and have a drink.

……………

It wasn’t until they got home that Li Nuo noticed he had several missed calls on his phone, most of them from Li Yan.

He’d been focused on clearing things up with Qin Xu and hadn’t checked his phone during the meal.

He quickly called Li Yan back to let him know he was home.

They had only seen each other briefly today, and it seemed Li Yan hadn’t yet adjusted to days without his brother around.

Li Nuo said a few words to him, telling him to rest well that evening and not overthink things. The whole point of living separately was so he wouldn’t have to worry, but it seemed like he was staying up even later than before.

After the call, Li Nuo turned around to find that Mo Chuan was nowhere in sight.

He had something he wanted to ask him, so he went upstairs, but Mo Chuan wasn’t in the bedroom either.

“Is he in the study?”

He opened the study door and glanced around, but didn’t see anyone.

“That’s strange, where did he go?”

The villa was quite large, and for the moment, he had no idea where to look.

Just as he was about to leave, his gaze swept across the bottom of the bookshelf, and he suddenly remembered the safe he had seen yesterday.

His interest piqued, he squatted down and looked at the metallic sheen of the box.

Trying to open someone else’s safe was definitely a bad idea, but he was really curious about what was inside.

Could it be Mo Chuan’s secrets? Or was it just like in TV dramas, filled with money, gold, or important documents?

In general, what people keep in safes is very important.

He stared at the touchpad.

“They say you can guess the code from fingerprint traces.”

Unfortunately, this safe was new and had barely been used, so the marks were too faint and Li Nuo didn’t have any tools. He could only stare at it helplessly.

Honestly, even if he knew which digits were used, there were still many possible combinations.

He wasn’t blessed with Sherlock Holmes’s brain.

After looking at it for a while, he decided to just try something at random.

“When is Mo Chuan’s birthday again?”

Li Nuo realized that he didn’t actually know. He’d spent his first birthday in this world over at Songshan, and only Aunt Zheng and the others had celebrated it with him.

He didn’t know anything else, so he simply entered his own birthday: 1221.

Beep—

After a short sound, the safe opened.

Li Nuo’s outstretched hand froze. “Wait, was it really my birthday? Or does that number have some other meaning?”

The fact that it opened on the first try left him stunned by his own luck.

He opened the safe, and to his surprise, it was nearly empty. There was just a single document folder inside.

Li Nuo was oddly a little disappointed, maybe because he hadn’t found piles of gold.

He laughed at himself and muttered, “Figures. TV dramas are all lies.”

Staring at the one and only item inside, he hesitated for a moment before finally sighing and giving up.

Just opening the safe already felt criminal enough. Reading the document would make it worse.

What if it was some kind of business secret? Not that he’d understand it anyway.

He sighed and was just about to close the safe when a sudden voice from behind startled him.

“You can look at it.”

Completely focused on the safe, Li Nuo jumped in fright and immediately clutched his chest.

He had already been startled enough today. Any more and something might actually go wrong.

Seeing him like that, Mo Chuan panicked instantly. “Baby!”

He glanced at Li Nuo’s watch and immediately picked him up and rushed out.

“It’s fine,” Li Nuo tried to take deep breaths, using the method He Yan had taught him to clear his mind and slow his heartbeat. “It’s not serious enough to panic.”

The study was very close to Mo Chuan’s room. He laid Li Nuo on his bed and watched him work hard to slow down his breathing.

Even though he was so anxious he felt like killing something, all he could do was watch helplessly.

When Li Nuo opened his eyes, he saw Mo Chuan lying by the bedside. He reached out and touched his face.

“I’m okay. It’s just that too many things today caught me off guard and I didn’t even notice you just now. That’s why it happened.”

Talking about it made Li Nuo a bit embarrassed. He had opened someone else’s safe and been caught red-handed. Now he just wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

“I didn’t hear your footsteps.”

“…I even knocked on the door.”

That made Li Nuo even more embarrassed.

He cleared his throat and was about to say something, but Mo Chuan spoke first.

“Weren’t you on the phone with Li Yan just now? Why did you end up in the study?”

“I was looking for you…”

Mo Chuan looked puzzled. “Looking for me?”

“Mm, there were some things I wanted to ask you, but then I saw the safe, so…”

Mo Chuan covered his forehead and chuckled. “So your attention was completely diverted?”

“Yeah… I was curious whether it’d be like on TV…”

“Like what?”

“That there’d be gold, money, house deeds, important documents, and so on…” Li Nuo’s voice grew quieter as he spoke.

In contrast, Mo Chuan burst out laughing louder. “Hahahaha—”

“Don’t laugh!”

Mo Chuan climbed onto the bed and hugged Li Nuo tightly, chuckling as he said, “It’s my fault. I should’ve filled the safe with those things. You only saw a document folder. Must’ve been a bit of a letdown, huh? Pfft, hahaha—”

Li Nuo pushed him hard and puffed out his cheeks.

“But if you want those things, no problem. I’ll fill it with whatever you want in a few days.”

“That’s way too wasteful. No thanks.”

“It’s nothing. Oh right, didn’t you want to see the deed for the house? I’ll give it to you.”

Li Nuo’s mouth twitched. “Even if you give it to me, I can’t afford the maintenance costs.”

“I’ll handle all the maintenance. What’s mine is yours. You just have to sign the papers.”

Li Nuo’s eyes gleamed as he asked, “What if I went back to the way I used to live, just shopping all day and doing nothing else?”

Mo Chuan lit up. “That actually sounds grea—Wait, no, hold on.”

He let go of Li Nuo and rummaged through the drawer of his bedside table. Once he found what he was looking for, he shoved it into Li Nuo’s hands.

“What’s this?”

“My wallet. All my cards are inside. The password is your birthday plus two zeros. Buy whatever you want.”

Li Nuo sighed briefly. How did this conversation go from a safe to this?

“Opening your safe without permission was my fault. I’m sorry.”

Mo Chuan shook his head. “It’s fine. I told you, you can look.”

After you finish reading it, be sure to tell me what’s going on.

“Forget it, I’m not going to read it. But I didn’t expect it to open on the first try.”

“Yeah, my baby’s so smart. You actually cracked it.”

“…I didn’t think it’d be my birthday. I was just trying randomly.”

That reminded Mo Chuan of something. “Oh, your birthday! Last time, since we weren’t together, so we didn’t celebrate it properly.”

“Aunt Zheng and the others celebrated with me.”

“I don’t care. Next time, I’m going to throw you a proper birthday celebration. And every year after that too!”

Hugging Li Nuo tightly, Mo Chuan made up his mind that he would burn that document folder later.

The test results that had come in that afternoon showed no issues in the brain. Recklessly starting treatment might lead to outcomes he didn’t want to see. So that “secret” no longer needed to be revealed.

As long as it is known by heaven, earth, you, and me—

That is enough.
