Although he had been lying in bed for five days, it hadn’t affected his physical functions much. Li Nuo got out of bed, and He Yan helped push the IV stand as they headed to the bathroom, preparing to let Li Nuo properly brush his teeth and wash his face before Mo Chuan returned.

He Yan stood nearby, helping him squeeze toothpaste and pour water.

“By the way, where’s Li Yan?” Li Nuo spat out a mouthful of foam. “Went to work?”

“How could he go while you were unconscious? I just got him to fall asleep with a glass of water. He’s napping in my office right now.”

Li Nuo almost swallowed his mouthwash. “What kind of doctor are you…”

But to be honest, he was beginning to worry about Li Yan’s health. He had been working overtime for months. Even though he was still young, he couldn’t keep pushing himself like this.

He must make sure Li Yan gets proper rest from now on.

After washing his face, he didn’t wait long before Mo Chuan returned.

“I only bought porridge. Once you’ve fully recovered, I’ll take you to eat something better.”

“Mm-hmm.” Li Nuo drank the porridge while Mo Chuan sat beside him, softly sharing amusing stories from the past few days. Occasionally, he tucked Li Nuo’s falling hair behind his ear. Li Nuo listened attentively and responded from time to time. The whole scene felt incredibly warm. Just by looking into Mo Chuan’s eyes, one could feel how deeply he cared for the person in front of him.

Watching this, He Yan finally felt reassured.

To be honest, if he had to choose between Qin Xu and Mo Chuan for Li Nuo, He Yan felt Mo Chuan was more suitable.

Li Nuo needed someone who could stay by his side, someone gentle and emotionally expressive.

Qin Xu, with his stoic personality, didn’t really fit.

After work, Qin Xu, who had heard the news, rushed over and walked in to find Li Yan arguing with Mo Chuan, while Li Nuo was watching them with a grin.

When he saw Qin Xu enter, his eyes lit up and he greeted him, “Brother Qin.”

“Are you alright?”

“I’m fine, I’ll be discharged tomorrow.”

This time, it wasn’t due to illness. His fainting was caused by the original owner’s consciousness.

When Qin Xu entered, the two people on the other side also stopped talking.

The hospital room fell quiet, and only then did Li Nuo speak. “By the way, I have something to say.”

He bowed sincerely to Li Yan and Qin Xu. “I’m truly sorry for everything I did to you both in the past.”

“Especially you, Li Yan. The way I treated you back then…” Li Nuo looked at Li Yan with eyes full of guilt. Even though he wasn’t the one who did those things, even though the original owner had only acted under the control of the story’s plot, the harm had already been done. After graduating from high school, Li Yan suffered a great deal in the past few years.

The other three reacted strongly, especially Li Yan.

“Brother… Did your memory come back?” he asked cautiously.

Li Nuo blinked. “Mm, after hearing what that bastard father said, I remembered everything. I guess the days I was unconscious were spent reliving all those memories in dreams.”

“Then you…”

Seeing Li Yan’s nervous expression, Li Nuo sighed. “Don’t worry. It’s like watching a movie. Only the memories came back, not the emotions. I didn’t feel anything at all.”

Of course. He and the original owner were two different souls.

Besides, the original owner had struggled against his fate too but he had failed too many times and fell into despair.

Upon hearing this, Mo Chuan also breathed a sigh of relief. He had known that the former Li Nuo had been very attached to Qin Xu. Thankfully, there were no lingering feelings now. Otherwise, they had only just started dating, and he might already have been dumped.

“And Brother Qin, I’m really sorry for pestering you so much back then.”

There was no longer the blatant flirtation in Li Nuo’s eyes from before, only awkwardness and genuine apology.

Qin Xu raised an eyebrow, unsure of how to feel. Indeed, the past Li Nuo hadn’t just liked him innocently. After losing his memory, he had even been afraid of him.

Qin Xu had once thought that if Li Nuo regained his memories, it might work to his advantage. But now, it seemed Li Nuo had truly changed.

There was a bit of regret.

“Does He Yan know about this?”

“I haven’t told him yet. I wanted to apologize to you both first before going to him.”

“Go see what the psychiatrist says first.”

……………

“This kind of situation is indeed possible, recalling everything under intense stimulation,” Dr. Zhou said, glancing at Li Nuo. Hearing your own father say he wants to sell you, anyone would be shaken.

“But after all, the human brain is very complex. The parts that govern memory and emotion are different. It’s quite possible that the subconscious doesn’t want to bring back the emotions from that time. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exceptional case.”

Dr. Zhou picked up the report from the table. “According to the test results, there’s nothing abnormal in the brain. If any changes occur in the future, you can come back for a consultation. For now, everything’s fine.”

Everyone relaxed.

“You little brat, you should’ve said earlier that you got your memory back.” He Yan knocked on Li Nuo’s head.

“Mm, sorry.”

Li Nuo realized he’d been saying “sorry” a bit too often today.

Listening to the doctor’s conclusion, Li Yan finally felt at ease. But once it sank in, he found himself ridiculous. Just how scared had he been that the old version of his brother would return? Life had been so smooth lately that he’d grown anxious over even the slightest possibility.

He Yan fell back a step, walked over to him, and said softly, “Now you can rest easy, right?”

“I…”

“Alright, no need to say anything, I get it.” He Yan patted his shoulder. “By the way, let them head back first. I’ve got something I want to talk to you about.”

Though puzzled, Li Yan agreed.

He let He Yan pull him back into Dr. Zhou’s office.

He Yan pushed Li Yan inside, then glanced meaningfully at Li Nuo.

Li Nuo gave a solemn nod.

Back in the hospital room, Li Nuo began packing the few things he would need for discharge the next day. There wasn’t much, so it didn’t take long.

Mo Chuan left behind a simple “I’ll come to pick you up tomorrow for discharge” before heading out with Qin Xu.

Li Nuo lay back on the bed and let out a deep breath.

Now, the task the original owner had entrusted him with was finally complete. Li Nuo thought to himself that perhaps he should go to a temple and pray for the original owner sometime.

The original owner had really suffered. He had wanted to change everything, but bound by the plot, there was nothing he could do. He had died so many times.

He should find a proper temple and pray sometime.

As he was thinking this, he heard the sound of the room door opening.

Assuming it was Li Yan returning, he didn’t get up, just kept his eyes closed, resting.

He didn’t open his eyes until a soft chuckle sounded above his head and he felt someone climb onto the bed.

Then he saw Mo Chuan’s face.

“…Weren’t you leaving?”

“That was to trick Qin Xu. Otherwise, how could I sneak off to meet you in secret?” Mo Chuan leaned over him, whispering into his ear with a low laugh.

“Mm-hmm.” There was a damp sensation at his neck, and Li Nuo shrank back a little. “It tickles.”

Mo Chuan raised his head. Their eyes met, and when he saw Li Nuo staring at him without blinking, his Adam’s apple bobbed involuntarily. Suddenly, he felt very thirsty.

He lowered his head, and Li Nuo obediently closed his eyes, letting Mo Chuan kiss him.

When the kiss ended, Mo Chuan contentedly buried his head in the crook of Li Nuo’s neck. “Ah, I don’t want to be apart from you.”

People really are greedy. Even though they had just started their relationship, he was already thinking about living together.

Would Li Nuo get angry if he used some tricks to get them to move in together?

Either way, it was worth a try.

“Alright, get off, you’re heavy.”

“Babe, we were just kissing in this position and the only thing you can think about is me being heavy?” Mo Chuan was speechless.

Li Nuo froze for a moment, then his face flushed bright red. “Get off!”

Forgive him—for all his past life, he had always been single. As for love, when simply staying alive was already a struggle, he never even had the luxury to think about such romantic things. At most, he envied the kinds of relationships described in novels.

Seeing that even his ears had turned red, Mo Chuan chuckled. “Just teasing you. I won’t touch you until you’re ready.”

He kissed Li Nuo on the cheek. “But kisses are okay, right?”

Li Nuo pushed him hard. “Hmph.”

If you don’t get up soon, no more kisses.

A six-foot-tall guy pressing down—did he even consider his small frame?

Mo Chuan obediently got up, sat at the edge of the bed, and played with Li Nuo’s hand.

After a while, as if remembering something, he said, “Right, I’ve already paid off all your family’s debts. You don’t need to worry about it anymore.”

“…Huh?!” Li Nuo was stunned.

“What’s the matter? We’re dating, right? Of course I should help with my partner’s family matters.” Mo Chuan pinched Li Nuo’s nose with one hand.

“But… it’s too much. Several million…” Li Nuo muttered.

Even though Mo Chuan’s casual attitude and the luxury of that villa made it obvious that this amount was probably small change to him, it was still a burden placed on someone else.

“This won’t do. I’ll pay you back,” Li Nuo said, his voice growing softer by the end.

With a melancholy sigh, he wondered if he could ever earn that much money in this lifetime.

Mo Chuan smiled. “Sure, take your time. A lifetime would be best.”

He knew Li Nuo didn’t want him involved in this matter. Acting on his own like this might be considered a bit underhanded. But just a verbal promise of being in a relationship wasn’t enough. He needed more reasons to keep Li Nuo by his side forever.

Fortunately, Li Nuo was the type to feel strongly about repaying debts.

“This is between the two of us. You owe me, Li Nuo.” Mo Chuan kissed him on the forehead.

“Mm, stop kissing. Li Yan will be back soon.”

“So heartless. You’re kicking me out already?”

“We can see each other tomorrow… Once I’m discharged,” Li Nuo said, face blushing, hesitating a little. “We could go on a date… Though I really don’t know what to do.”

Forgive him—it was his first time being in a relationship, and he didn’t know a thing.

But Mo Chuan was thrilled. He immediately picked Li Nuo up and spun him around in joy.

“I’ll plan a great date for us.”

He had already thought of many places he wanted to take Li Nuo to.

After cuddling with Li Nuo for a while, he reluctantly left.

Only Li Nuo was left, staring into space.

The debt issue had been resolved, so how should he let Li Yan know?

When Li Yan returned from Dr. Zhou’s office, Li Nuo glanced at him several times.

He knew Li Yan’s personality well. Li Yan wouldn’t just say “got it” and let it go. That’s why it was so hard to bring it up.

Li Nuo edged closer, hesitantly. “Um… Little Brother…”

“Mm?”

“I have something to tell you. Actually…”

A moment later, Li Yan picked up his phone with a grave expression and walked out. “Brother, I’m making a call. I’ll be back soon.”

The person he was calling was obvious.

“Hello?”

“Director Mo, good evening. I think we need to talk.”
