Li Nuo opened his eyes slowly, carrying all of his memories with him.

Too many things rushed into his mind all at once, making him a bit confused.

But he still recognized that he was in a hospital.

The hospital, huh.

He turned his head to look at the bedside. It was morning, and he vaguely saw Li Yan’s figure on the accompanying bed.

Upon waking, he recalled the “god” that the original owner had mentioned, and the memories from his past life naturally surfaced in his mind.

With his health deteriorating day by day, after finishing treatment on that particular day, he lay on the hospital bed when the attending physician quietly asked if he had any wishes, then took out a clover-shaped sticky note, saying he could write it down there.

Having lived in the hospital for several years, Li Nuo naturally knew this was something the hospital gave to children to play with, claiming it would be hung on the wishing tree.

He had smiled at the time, but still accepted the doctor’s good intentions and wrote a single sentence before handing it back.

【 I want to love and to be loved. 】

The treatment had exhausted what little strength he had left, so he fell asleep early.

Then, when he opened his eyes again, he had arrived in this world.

From the outcome, it seemed that his wish had come true.

Was it real? That god?

Could it really have been that bald, always-grinning attending physician of his?

No, he shouldn’t think like that. He was a god, after all, and disguising his appearance should be easy.

What the naked eye sees isn’t necessarily real.

He decided to forget it. There was no point in dwelling on matters of that god.

Li Nuo thought that his original body must have died. Back then, it was Lin Ji who personally called in favors for his treatment. Every breath was agony, and he didn’t have much time left anyway.

Now, things were already much better. His memories were fully restored, and the original owner had also left to pursue his own happiness. This meant that in this lifetime, he would be living here.

To think he was given the chance to start a second life, he really ought to thank that attending doctor.

I’ll sleep a little longer and then get up. I’ll talk to everyone then.

……………

“It’s been five days already, you should be waking up now.”

Sitting by the bed, Mo Chuan stared at Li Nuo’s face, one he had seen every day.

He Yan said that all his physiological signs were perfectly normal and that they just needed to wait.

Perhaps because of that, Li Nuo’s face looked quite peaceful.

“Are you planning to abandon me already? We’ve only just started dating,” Mo Chuan muttered.

Qin Xu opened the door and walked over. “Still not awake?”

Mo Chuan shook his head gloomily. “That guy He Yan keeps saying it’s fine.”

He reached out and gently ran his fingers through Li Nuo’s now long hair.

“You should wake up already. Your hair needs a cut. Or maybe not, it’s actually pretty nice this way.”

“Stop disturbing someone who’s sleeping.”

“I’ve seen this scene so many times, I don’t want to see it again. Especially not in a hospital.”

Although he said that, Mo Chuan’s expression as he looked at Li Nuo didn’t carry the usual worry that came with past hospital stays. He didn’t even know why. Maybe it was just a feeling, but something told him that Li Nuo really was just sleeping now. It was just that the nap was a bit long.

“By the way, where’s Secretary Li?”

“He Yan made him rest. He’s been staying up constantly these past few days.”

The two of them fell silent.

Qin Xu looked at Li Nuo on the hospital bed and thought back to when they stayed together at the villa. Though he wasn’t good with words and didn’t say much, Li Nuo never seemed to mind.

It was really hard to endure back then.

Every time Li Nuo wiped his body, something always tried to jump out and make its presence known. Enduring it was really tough. It felt even worse than when he had to get his wounds treated.

Back then, because of everything going on, he never got the chance to properly express his feelings.

If it were now…

I don’t want to give up.

The reason he didn’t dare get close to Li Nuo before was because the power struggles within the company were dangerous. But now, everything was under his control, and there were no more worries.

I hope I’m not too late.

Qin Xu glanced at Mo Chuan, who had been watching Li Nuo with a consistently gentle gaze.

This guy’s pursuit was obvious to all. While Qin Xu had been busy dealing with company affairs, Mo Chuan and Li Nuo had grown noticeably closer. Even when handling the matter with Li Yuzhi, Li Nuo had sought Mo Chuan’s help.

Qin Xu made up his mind. He was going to take action too.

A knock at the door interrupted the two men’s thoughts. He Yan stood at the door, pushing a cart. “Make some room for me, thanks.”

Li Nuo hadn’t woken up yet, but he still needed glucose.

He Yan gently lifted Li Nuo’s left hand, which already had a needle mark.

Mo Chuan frowned slightly, and as if sensing what he was about to say, He Yan added, “I’ve been as gentle as possible. Normally, this should be done by a nurse.”

He continued working with his hands as he spoke, “But what about you two? It’s work hours and you’re still not at the company?”

Mo Chuan turned to Qin Xu. “You heard him. Time to go back to work.”

“Let’s go together.”

Mo Chuan refused without hesitation. “No. I already said I’m quitting. If you won’t accept my resignation, fine. But at least don’t give me a demanding job. I want something relaxing.”

From childhood, the carefree and pampered Young Master Mo had never been interested in the hardships of a corporate job.

He had only gone along with it before out of his friendship with Qin Xu. Now that Qin Xu had gotten what he wanted, Mo Chuan had no motivation to keep working.

Qin Xu looked at his old friend with some helplessness. “I’ll make arrangements later.”

“Then I’ll go back to work later too.”

Qin Xu shook his head, glanced once more at Li Nuo on the hospital bed, and turned to leave.

Though he now held the reins of power, the fact remained that it also meant he was busier than ever.

He Yan put down Li Nuo’s hand and packed up his tools. “Since you’re staying here, keep an eye on the IV. It’ll probably need to be changed soon.”

Mo Chuan nodded.

“Alright then. Stay alert. If he wakes up, call me immediately.”

After He Yan left, only the two of them remained in the room.

Mo Chuan gently supported Li Nuo’s arm with the IV drip. Though the room had air conditioning, the hand was still cold from the IV.

“I’ve already planned out our travel destination. Just waiting for you to wake up.”

He murmured to himself, the sweetness and ache in his heart unfamiliar, yet not unpleasant.

“Good thing you said you wanted to deal with Li Yuzhi and Zhang Wanhui, otherwise…”

Just thinking about how Li Nuo could’ve ended up being passed into someone else’s hands made Mo Chuan seethe with rage. He could barely hold himself back from killing those two.

He was used to seeing Li Nuo every day now, and the thought of not seeing him one day made him feel like he’d go mad.

Li Nuo had captivated him so thoroughly that Mo Chuan didn’t want to let him go, not even for a moment.

Mo Chuan slowly leaned down and kissed Li Nuo’s forehead. “Sleeping Beauty, it’s time to wake up.”

After retreating to his seat, he suddenly heard a faint voice.

“Mm, I wake up only to find you taking advantage of me.”

Mo Chuan froze and looked down to meet Li Nuo’s eyes.

Overwhelmed with emotion, he nearly burst into tears. He wanted to embrace Li Nuo, but the IV tube was in the way. He sniffled, raised the bed a bit, and ran to Li Nuo’s right side, showering kisses on his hand. “That’s great, that’s so great.”

“Wait, why do you look like you’re about to cry? Was I asleep for a long time?” Li Nuo was a bit dazed. After the original soul reincarnated, he stayed in the memory space, watching all those memories. He had only just finished them and woken up.

As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw Mo Chuan kissing him.

Now, seeing the red rims of Mo Chuan’s eyes, he felt a bit confused.

“What do you think, sweetheart? It’s been five days.”

Li Nuo was shocked. “Five days?”

He touched his stomach. “No wonder I’m so hungry.”

Well, after all, it was years of memories. Even if fast-forwarded, it would still take quite a while to go through them all.

“Hm? You’re hungry? I’ll go get you something to eat.” Mo Chuan got up, then paused.

“What’s wrong?”

With a mischievous grin, he turned around. “I want a reward.”

Li Nuo reacted quickly, raising his hand to cover his lips. His muffled voice came through, “You just kissed my forehead.”

“That was compensation for the days you were unconscious. This is a reward for going to buy food.”

Li Nuo was momentarily flustered. “I’m sick and you’re still thinking about that!”

But Mo Chuan held onto his right hand, rubbing and nudging against it.

Seeing the dark circles under his eyes and the red veins in them, Li Nuo’s heart softened a bit. But…

“I haven’t brushed my teeth, I don’t want to kiss.”

Mo Chuan’s eyes lit up, and he pointed to the side of his face. “Kiss my cheek, then.”

“……”

Li Nuo felt a little shy, but since there was no one else in the room, he closed his eyes and leaned in, giving a light peck.

“Ahem.” A familiar voice came from the doorway.

Li Nuo’s body stiffened and he immediately ducked under the blanket.

Only his head stuck out, eyes glaring accusingly at Mo Chuan.

That man had been facing the door the entire time. He saw someone coming in but didn’t warn him.

Mo Chuan showed no trace of guilt. He waved a hand and greeted, “Ah, perfect timing. I was just about to call you in. Li Nuo just woke up.”

He Yan adjusted his glasses and stepped inside. After glancing at the blushing, curled-up Li Nuo, he rolled his eyes at Mo Chuan. “Just woke up?”

He had arrived at the door just as Mo Chuan said, “Kiss my cheek.” Li Nuo had lowered his head in hesitation, and Mo Chuan gave him a look telling him not to come in yet.

What surprised He Yan was that Li Nuo had actually gone through with it after hesitating.

Seems like a lot had happened in the past few months.

So in the end, the winner was Mo Chuan, huh?

I wonder how Qin Xu and Li Yan will feel after they find out.

But for now, the most important thing was the check-up.

He walked over and knocked gently on Li Nuo’s head. “Stop hiding. The IV isn’t finished yet. Let’s do a quick check-up first.”

Mo Chuan immediately shielded Li Nuo. “Why are you hitting him?”

He Yan waved him off. “Shoo, didn’t you say you were going to buy something to eat? Go already.”

Though reluctant, feeding his hungry darling was more important. Mo Chuan had no choice but to leave. “I’ll be right back.”

“Mm-hmm.” Li Nuo nodded vaguely.

Watching Mo Chuan leave, He Yan patted the blanket. “Come on out. You really need the check-up.”

“Brother He…” Li Nuo emerged from the blanket, his cheeks still flushed.

“Does Li Yan know about this?” Li Nuo shook his head.

“What about Qin Xu?” Another shake.

“A secret relationship, huh?” He Yan chuckled. “You’re really keeping up with the trends. Guess my warnings before were for nothing.”

Seeing Li Nuo still embarrassed, he shook his head and gently patted him on the head. “I’m not blaming you. As long as you’re happy, that’s what matters. Just don’t let yourself get hurt. You know how that guy used to be a playboy.”

“You damn He Yan, talking behind my back the moment I leave, huh?”

Mo Chuan had rushed back in, forgetting both his phone and wallet, and overheard the comment the moment he walked in.

His face darkened. The scene felt oddly familiar… Then it came to him—Yun Jin had once said the exact same thing to Li Nuo.

Holding a grudge.jpg

He strode over quickly and threw his arm around Li Nuo’s shoulder, baring his teeth at He Yan. “Mind your own business!”

Then he looked back at Li Nuo with urgency. “Baby, you know me, I…”

Before he could finish, Li Nuo grabbed his phone and slapped it into his hand. “Go buy food.”

Then he turned to He Yan with a smile. “I understand. This was a decision I made out of my own free will.”

Mo Chuan didn’t protest anymore. He obediently left the room, practically floating with joy.

Seeing the resolve in his expression, He Yan let out a long sigh and changed the IV bottle. “You’ve really grown up… I can’t imagine how heartbroken Li Yan will be.”

At the mention of Li Yan, Li Nuo’s expression shifted. “Brother He, could you arrange a psychologist for Li Yan? It’s time he started living for himself, not trapped for life by Li Yuzhi’s teachings.”

He Yan nodded in agreement. “I’ll talk to one of my colleagues about it.”
