- Chapter 62 - Marshal Gilles, let's get this big job done!
“Roarrrrrr!!!”
A scorching dragon’s breath was fiercely spewed towards Mordred.
Mordred leaped high into the air, holding his sword with both hands.
“Crimson Thunder!!!”
Clarent erupted with crimson lightning.
“Ha!!!”
Then, Mordred aimed at Fafnir’s wings and slammed down with both hands!!!
“Clang!!!”
A crisp sound echoed as Mordred felt a tremendous counterforce in his hands once again.
As a dragonkin of fantasy, Fafnir possessed extremely tough scales, and it was an incredibly powerful entity among dragons.
Without a Heroic Spirit with a dragon-slaying legend, ordinary weapons couldn’t inflict enough damage.
“Roarrrrrr!!!”
Fafnir roared and spewed dragon’s breath at Mordred once again.
“Ugh, if only Father had let me go after some regular dragon.”
Mordred complained as he dodged Fafnir’s attack.
“While it’s better for Master if I can drag this out, this guy seems like it’ll never get tired. But since it only uses long-range attacks, it’s okay as long as I don’t get hit…?!”
Suddenly, the Evil Dragon stopped fighting Mordred and swiftly flew into the sky. Then, a wave of immense magical energy gathered from its chest!
The atmosphere trembled, and the speed at which this magical energy gathered was beyond what a Servant could compare to!
The light at the dragon’s heart grew more intense, and one could sense the rising power of destruction.
Oh no!
They had to retreat quickly!!!
But soon, Mordred realized that it was already too late to notify Johanna in the rear to escape.
Not only that, the position was surely going to be completely destroyed.
The only choice now was to do their best to stop it.
With this in mind, magical energy began to flow on Mordred’s entire armor, gradually converging onto Clarent.
“Come on, let’s see who’s stronger!!!”
Just as the massive magical energy inside the Evil Dragon reached its critical point, its movement suddenly stopped.
As if sensing something, Fafnir turned back and then flapped its wings to fly away.
“Hey, damn it, is it coming again?!”
Mordred also released his Noble Phantasm in time before it unfolded.
Looking at Fafnir’s retreat with the Wyvern group, Mordred inexplicably stabbed his sword into the ground.
“What the heck.”
“Mordred!”
Johanna’s voice came from behind.
“Oh, Popess, did you handle things over there?”
“With Mr. Emiya’s help, that Saber finally got released. Summoned by the Dragon Witch and then affected by Madness Enhancement, she even killed the monarch she should have dedicated herself to. She must be very unwilling.”
Johanna shook her head, seemingly empathizing with D’eon’s situation.
“But more importantly, that Evil Dragon went back.”
Mordred pointed his sword towards the distant sky, where Fafnir’s figure could still be seen leaving.
“Went back?”
Johanna looked incredulous.
“Most likely, Master must have threatened that Dragon Witch over there. Let’s go support them quickly.”
“Yes, let’s go now.”
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Suddenly, the ground began to shake continuously, making Johanna even struggle to stand steady.
“What’s happening again?”
“Squeak! Squeak!”
Tonbi flew from the sky and landed on Johanna’s shoulder, continuously making squeaking sounds, as if trying to convey something.
After listening to Tonbi’s words, Johanna suddenly revealed a shocked expression.
“What’s wrong? Did something happen over at Master’s side?”
Mordred leaned over and asked.
Johanna neither confirmed nor denied Mordred’s question, but simply stared straight ahead.
Mordred, with a puzzled expression, followed Johanna’s gaze towards the direction of the castle, where the half-destroyed castle was sinking, and an evil creature emerged from it.
“Huh? What is this???”
———
The earth is rumbling, and the sky is tearing apart.
Sunlight is obscured by dark clouds, and the once mild air gradually grows colder.
Accompanying the collapse of the castle, a colossal sea monster with numerous tentacles slowly emerges from below.
The Wyverns that previously encircled the castle also notice this unusual creature, continuously roaring at its sudden appearance.
Suddenly, its outstretched tentacles tightly ensnare the Wyverns, dragging them into its clutches, leaving behind only a mournful cry.
“Jeanne, don’t worry. I will avenge you and fulfill the revenge upon France. Only through destruction can true salvation be achieved!”
Gilles de Rais, standing atop the sea monster’s body, gradually sinks into its form.
The immense sea monster appears on the screen, its contorted figure, slippery tentacles, and trembling mandibles exposed to the gaze of the onlookers.
“Suddenly, it feels like Cthulhu?!”
“No, this entity is too sanity-draining…”
“Why did Marshal Gilles summon the sea monster again? If he obtains the Holy Grail this time, there will be no order or restraint, right?”
“The book in Marshal Gilles’ hands is the Lemegeton, the bound manuscript owned by the 15th-century Magus François Plati. It is said to contain the methods of summoning gods from other worlds.”
“This is incredibly Lovecraftian. I’m going to have nightmares tonight…”
“Sir, could I have a moment of your time? I would like to talk to you about our Heavenly Father and Savior, Cthulhu.”
“No, my cabinet has moved. I have to return to the Lemegeton.”
———-
In the moment when Bai Qiu and the others departed from the passage, the castle had already collapsed.
Fortunately, with Jeanne Alter as their guide, they managed to escape safely.
“Bai Qiu, Mashu… can you hear me?”
“Doctor?!”
Dr. Romani’s voice came through Mashu’s communication device in a fragmented manner.
“We can hear you!”
“For some reason… the existence on your end has suddenly become difficult to ascertain… and we’ve detected a powerful reaction… it must be the Holy Grail…”
“Doctor, can you confirm that the Holy Grail is here?”
Bai Qiu leaned closer to the communication device and asked.
“Yes… although I’m unaware of the events on your end… the Holy Grail must be within that… target with a strong reaction.”
“Understood, we will find a way to retrieve it.”
“I see… the communication signal is weakening again… I’m relying on you… Bai Qiu… Mashu… crackle…”
The communication was once again interrupted.
Bai Qiu gazed at the immense sea monster before them, constantly consuming and growing.
This ancient creature, which should not exist in this place, further plunged the Singularity into chaos.
Nevertheless, they had no choice but to face it head-on!
“Mashu! Prepare to reclaim the Holy Grail!!!”
