In Room 501’s bedroom stood a bed even larger than a double — a king-sized bed.

Kachua, Ed and Barbara slept comfortably on that big bed, which Bernhardt had given up for them.

And then, the next morning.

Since there was no school or daycare today, there was no need to rush but they still had to return the room to Bernhardt.

Once they had finished getting ready, Kachua and her family opened the door and stepped into the living room — only to widen their eyes.

“Oh?”

At some point, the living room had been tidied up beautifully.

The dishes they had used the previous day had been cleared away and a lovely bouquet of fresh flowers had been arranged on the table.

There were drinks set out as well.

“Orange juice!” Barbara exclaimed with delight.

It seemed that during the night, someone had lightly cleaned the room they had used, and in the morning had prepared drinks for them — a morning tea service.

As expected of a first-class hotel.

Normally, as the name suggested, a morning tea service would consist of tea or coffee, but it appeared they had known children were staying, and so orange juice had been prepared instead.

While gratefully letting the children drink the orange juice, Kachua happened to glance at the table and noticed a letter placed there.

Opening the envelope, she found a message written in elegant handwriting:『Breakfast has been prepared. Please enjoy it together』.

The location was a private room next to the main dining hall on the first floor.

“Could it be from Mr.Garfa?”

It seemed to be a thank-you gift for giving him the Acorn Chalice.

Since it was such a nice gesture, they decided to enjoy the breakfast.

When Kachua and her family went down to the first floor, they found Rick, Laura, and Og already there, enjoying a delicious-looking breakfast.

A chef was stationed in the corner, ready to cook eggs on the spot.

“「「「「Ah, Kachua-san, good morning!」」」」”

“Good morniiiing!”

“Good morning.”

“Mornin”

They exchanged greetings, and Kachua’s group took their seats.

“Uu, good morning~”

“Hey, everyone, good morning.”

Ann and Bernhardt had also arrived.

Ann was not a morning person.

“「「「「Good morning.」」」」”

“Mornin.”

“Oh, good morning. Were you two together yesterday?”

“Of course not! I broke up with this guy!”

Ann pointed at Bernhardt with a displeased look.

Beside her, Bernhardt was smiling and saying, “I have no intention of breaking up with you, Ann.”

Just as they were finishing breakfast, a man in a black suit approached and greeted Kachua and the others.

He was apparently the manager of the hotel.

“The owner, Garfa, has expressed his wish to invite all of you to his home. A carriage has been prepared, so would you be so kind as to stop by?”

He asked them with great politeness.

However—

“Eh, Mr Garfa’s home?”

It could only be a grand mansion.

While Bernhardt would be perfectly at ease, for Kachua and the others, it was a rare and precious invitation, but to be honest, they felt out of place.

“If possible, I’d rather excuse ourselves here” was the team’s shared sentiment, but the manager bowed his head once more.

“I am well aware of the imposition. However, this is a heartfelt request from Lady Minerva. Could you please grant her wish?”

It seemed that Minerva, Garfa’s daughter who had become a werewolf, wanted to meet the Gamma Team and Bernhardt.

When they were further told,『Please do bring the children as well』it became even harder to refuse, and in the end, Kachua and the others decided to pay a visit to the Garfa residence.

***

The Gamma Team, along with Ed, Barbara, and Bernhardt, split into two separate carriages.

In the first carriage rode Og, Kachua and the children… and then—

“Let me ride too” Ann said, slipping quickly into the carriage.

“Ann, I’ll come as well” Bernhardt said, wanting to ride with her, but with Bernhardt’s huge frame, it would exceed the capacity.

“No way. You go ride in the other one” Ann told him, and he reluctantly climbed into the second carriage.

“Why aren’t you riding with him?” Kachua asked.

Ann shrugged. “Because it’s awkward.”

“Hmm.”

From the Garfa Hotel in the city center to the Garfa residence, there was some distance, even though it was within the same city.

The carriages passed through the lively main streets and were just entering an upscale residential district lined with elegant mansions when—

“…!?”

Og, who had been sitting on the carriage seat, suddenly lifted his head sharply.

“Was that just my imagination… no, I can hear it! Everyone, a rescue whistle is sounding!”

“Eh?”

Kachua strained her ears but heard nothing.

However, Og said, “This way” then opened the carriage door while it was moving and leapt down.

Og was a werewolf.

His hearing was many times sharper than that of a human, allowing him to pick up sounds that people could not hear.

“Eh!”

Startled, Kachua looked out the window to see Og sprinting toward the outskirts at an incredible speed.

“Coachman, follow that boy!” Ann ordered the driver.

“Yes, ma’am!” The coachman quickly turned the horses.

Just then, something large dashed past the side of the carriage.

“What was that?”

The answer was Bernhardt.

Though a massive man, he possessed astonishing agility.

“Boy! Has something happened?”

In the blink of an eye, he caught up to Og and called out.

“Ah, um, a rescue whistle is sounding!”

Even though Og, being a werewolf, was running with remarkable swiftness, Bernhardt kept pace with him without the slightest sign of breathlessness.

A rescue whistle was a kind of signal whistle used to summon people in emergencies. It produced a louder sound than a normal whistle and could be heard from far away.

While the city itself was generally safe, monsters appeared in the outskirts.

When leaving town, carrying one was essential.

Something had definitely happened.

“Hmm” Bernhardt’s expression turned serious.

“Which direction?”

“Over there.”

Og pointed toward the outskirts of the city.

“That way, huh? Then there’s no time to waste. Boy, I’m going to pick up the pace!”

With that, Bernhardt increased his speed.

“Eh!?”

Og was shocked.

To repeat, Og, being a werewolf, was extremely fast.

Rick, a thief by profession, could match Og’s speed, but Rick lacked stamina. If he kept running, Rick would tire out before Og did.

Yet Bernhardt was just as fast — if not faster and had more than enough stamina to spare.

“Let’s go!”

“W-wait for me!”

Og desperately chased after Bernhardt so as not to fall behind.

At that moment, the rescue whistle sounded again, its shrill cry echoing like a scream.

It was much closer now!

“This way!”

“Ah, I can hear it too.”

There was a large highway connecting the labyrinth city of Loa to another town.

On that road, several people were being attacked by a pack of monsters.

Horned Rabbit monsters — Horn Rabbits!

While most monsters lived only within dungeons, there were certain species that escaped, adapted to the outside environment, and reproduced.

The《Horn Rabbit》was one such species.

They were much larger than ordinary rabbits, with aggressive temperaments, and were especially violent during their breeding season.

Those under attack seemed to be villagers from nearby.

They had likely wandered into Horn Rabbit territory.

Panicked, they had tried to flee, but the enraged Horn Rabbits had lost all sense of restraint and were chasing them down.

“Villagers are being attacked! Let’s go!”

“Yes!”

Og and Bernhardt charged between the Horn Rabbits and the villagers, launching their attacks on the monsters.

Og’s weapon was a large mithril knife.

Bernhardt, on the other hand—

Was unarmed.

“Haahhh!”

With a fist strengthened through relentless training, he delivered a straight punch, sending several Horn Rabbits flying at once.

The Horn Rabbits were in a frenzy from their rage.

Even against the clearly superior Bernhardt and Og, they did not back down, squealing『kyee kyee』while stomping their feet in a strange motion.

“What’s that?” Og tilted his head, but Bernhardt had seen this behavior before.

“Boy, be careful! The Horn Rabbits are calling their boss!”

“Huh!?”

And then it appeared — a monster rabbit larger than a bear.

It was the Great Horn Rabbit.
