“………”

Og fell silent, lost in thought.

After a moment, he looked up and stared straight at Jessica and Cliff.

“If we do go to the 30th floor, then I…”

He glanced toward Rick, then corrected himself.

“We’re worried about Laura and Kachua-san. Can we count on you to protect them?”

Rick nodded beside him. “Yeah, that’s exactly it.”

Jessica and Cliff both nodded firmly.

Cliff answered on their behalf.

“We can’t make any guarantees. But we’ll do everything we can. We’ve gone to the 30th floor many times and know the area well. Our team, the Leopard Corps of the Falling Snow, is pretty well-known. We’ve got the experience. We’ll protect them with everything we’ve got.”

Hearing that, Og turned to Ann and Kachua.

“If everyone’s okay with it… I’d like to accept the mission. If there’s someone out there who truly needs the Rare-Rare Mushroom, I want to help get it to them.”

“We’re on board too”

“Yeah, let’s do it.”

Rick and Laura both voiced their agreement.

“Alright then.”

“Thank you, everyone.”

Ann turned to Jessica and Cliff with a small nod.

“Alright—we’ll take the mission.”

Jessica and Cliff both let out a breath, visibly relieved.

“Phew…”

“Thank you! In return, we’ll give you all the support we can. Take a look at those mannequins—that equipment is prepared just for you!”

“Go on, try them out! If you don’t like what you see, we’ll get you something else.”

Prompted by Jessica, the Gamma Team approached the mannequins dressed in armor.

Rick’s eyes widened as he let out an excited shout.

“Wait—isn’t this the Elite Ninja gear!?”

It was the high-grade version of the ninja set Rick had always admired.

“Whoa…”

Og’s eyes were fixed on a set of silver-gray gear: a gleaming chestplate, gauntlets, and greaves—all light armor.

“Mithril,” Cliff said proudly.

“Lightweight and durable. Perfect for a frontline fighter who relies on speed.”

Laura gently pinched the hem of a robe with her fingers.

“…Such powerful magic…”

This robe wasn’t ordinary—it radiated a potent enchantment.

“That’s a Reflect Robe. Just like the name says, it reflects magic.”

The Reflect Robe was a special piece of armor that repelled all magic—including enemy spells and ally buffs.

Only self-cast spells and items could bypass the reflection effect.

It could be disabled by wearing a special anti-reflection bracelet, but if you did, the robe lost its magic entirely and became just a normal garment.

A powerful—but extremely tricky—piece of equipment to use.

“We heard Gamma Team only has a few members and that the only support roles are you and Kachua. That’s why I thought this gear would suit you.”

“And for Ann-senpai…”

“That’s made from Earth Dragon hide”Cliff added.

The Earth Dragon was one of the more commonly seen draconic species, but armor made from dragon leather—Dragon Mail—was still a luxury item.

“…………”

One more mannequin remained.

It was presumably for Kachua…but the armor was massive, the kind usually worn by a heavy-armored knight. A full plate armor set that screamed defense-focused.

Unlike the others, it didn’t look all that cool.

“Jessica… is this really mine?”

Kachua asked just to be sure.

“Yup! It’s a defense-specialized set: the Absolute Defense Armor!”

“Ehhhh…”

“This armor was developed to safely escort non-combatants—like scholars and engineers—through the dungeon. It’s a lot lighter than it looks and incredibly durable.”

Jessica explained proudly, brimming with confidence.

The Absolute Defense Armor—also known by its other name: The Mobile Fortress.

It boasted impenetrable defense, but came with hard stats: fixed 1 attack power, and fixed 10 speed.

That meant… not only would it fail to damage even the dungeon’s weakest monsters—slimes—it could also easily be outrun by first-graders at the beginner’s school.

“If things get bad, drink this High-Speed Potion and run.”

Jessica handed Kachua a small vial.

“Wait, this kind of thing exists?”

Kachua blinked, surprised.

Jessica leaned in with a serious look.

“Listen closely: only if it’s an emergency. Don’t drink it normally, okay? It lets you move at high speed for ten minutes… but you’ll be bedridden for three days afterward.”

“That’s terrifying!!”

Jessica spun around and addressed Og and Rick next.

“Og-kun, Rick-kun—I’ve got weapons prepared for you as well. If you prefer the ones you’re used to, that’s fine, no pressure. But take a look if you’re interested.”

“Thank you… Um, wait—are you lending us these weapons and armor?”

Rick asked hesitantly, eyeing the gear that looked like it would cost a small fortune.

“Yes, you’ll be borrowing all of this until you reach the 30th floor”

Jessica nodded.

Cliff followed up, firmly:

“And if you do manage to obtain the Rare-Rare Mushroom, then consider all of this your quest reward—keep it.”

The generosity was so overwhelming, the Gamma Team didn’t know how to react.

More than happy, they were… stunned.

“Whoa, this is serious pressure now.”

“They’re so generous.”

“Are you sure about this…?”

“Yes—let’s do our best together, Gamma Team!”

***

The operation was set to take place three days later, on the day before that.

“I’m so,honestly sorry.” Kachua visited Nancy’s home in the same government housing complex, bringing a gift to greet her. Nancy had been looking after Ed and the others on late nights. Though they would actually be heading into the dungeon tomorrow, since she would be dropping the kids off early in the morning, Kachua made sure to visit and greet her the day before.

Nancy waved her hands lightly in front of her face. “No no, don’t worry about it, really.”

“But lately, I’ve been relying on you all the time. I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine. You took care of my youngest so many times when they were a baby, didn’t you? This is just paying you back. More importantly, these sweets, they’re from Garfa Confectionery, right?”

The treats Jessica had handed her with a『take these』 were from a Garfa Trading Company affiliated store.

“Yeah.”

It was a set of strawberry shortcakes that kids love and orange pound cakes that cater more to adult tastes.

“They’re super popular, you always have to line up to get them. Thank you so much. I’ve been wanting to try them. I heard they’re popular even in the royal capital.”

“Is that so?”

“Garfa Trading Company is one of the biggest in the country, after all. I heard the owner’s daughter, Garcia-Ojousama, is even being considered as a fiancée for the Third Prince.”

“Wow, that’s impressive.”

Lately, Kachua had been a bit too busy to keep up with current trends, so she found it fascinating. Garfa Trading Company was well known in the labyrinth city of Loa, so rumors about the owner naturally caught the attention of housewives.

Mr. Garfa didn’t have a noble title but apparently if you were a wealthy enough merchant, you could marry into royalty regardless of noble rank.

“If Garcia-Ojousama becomes a royal consort, that means a princess will have been born right here in Loa. Isn’t that amazing?” Nancy said, getting ahead of herself.

“That would be nice.”

Kachua had never seen Mr. Garfa or his daughter, but just thinking about a royal consort possibly being born from her own city made her a little excited.
