It's still ongoing with currently only 30+ chapters. The story is very lightweight. The combat isn't too detailed, but it is still enjoyable to immerse in after a stressful day of work. Please show your love through NU reviews and ratings to keep me goin'! And if you have a recommendation for a darker plot JP novel with a female lead and NO HAREM or ECCHI, feel free to reach out to me! It's hard to navigate the JP web novel world since it's my first time...

After the dinner meeting ended,

“Thank you very much for today. This is one of our restaurant’s specialties—please take it with you”. They were even given some of the restaurant’s pudding as a parting gift.

Talk about full-service hospitality.

“Kachua, I’ll head back with you.”

“Oh, you sure?”

“Yeah, I was planning to anyway.”

So Kachua and Jessica decided to return to the government quarters together.

By the time they arrived at Nancy’s house, it was already well into the night.

Since both Ed and Barbara had already fallen asleep, Kachua and Jessica decided to just leave the pudding there and head home, opting to let the kids sleep over at Nancy’s.

“There’s a lot I want to talk about, though”

Jessica said and Kachua nodded.

“Yeah, same here.”

“But… I’m kind of tired. Wanna save it for tomorrow and just go to bed?”

“Good idea. Staying up late is the enemy of good skin, after all.”

“Alright then, bath and bedtime it is.”

And just like that, the two decided to call it a night.

The next morning.

Kachua got up and first went to pick up Ed and Barbara from Nancy’s house.

When the two kids were welcomed home with a cheerful『Welcome back!』from Jessica, they practically exploded with excitement.

“Ah! It’s Jessica-chan!”

“Jessica-chan, you’re heeere!”

From there, the chaos began.

With their energy maxed out from the morning, Kachua had to get them breakfast, then send Ed off to school and walk Barbara to daycare.

When she returned home from the daycare run, Jessica—still looking a little sleepy was washing the breakfast dishes and greeted her with a casual, “Morning, welcome back.”

“Thanks, but Jessica, you didn’t have to do all that for me.”

“It’s fine, really. But man, being a housewife is rough in the mornings.”

“You get used to it. Just a matter of routine.”

Kachua went around gathering laundry from every room and brought it to the side of the washing machine.

In the countryside, people still mainly used washbasins, but in the labyrinth city of Loa, magic-powered washing machines were starting to become more common.

The ones in the government housing were older models, but each home had one installed—which helped a lot.

Washing machines were convenient, but stubborn stains still needed to be scrubbed beforehand. As Kachua worked soap into a shirt with some good old elbow grease, Jessica offered, “Let me help” and joined in.

“Hey, Jessica, can I ask something?”

Kachua said while continuing their laundry prep.

“Yeah? What is it?”

“What’s your connection with Ann?”

“She’s my mentor.”

Jessica answered softly.

“Back when I was a total rookie—clueless about everything—she picked me up, trained me and made me who I am today. She’s… that kind of person.”

“So that’s how it was.”

“Yeah, seriously, I owe her so much. I could never sleep with my feet pointed in her direction. Anneria-senpai and Bernhardt Den…”

“Den?”

“D-Dendenmushi! Right, that’s the nickname! Bernhardt Den… Dendenmushi!”

“Even though Bernhardt sounds like such a cool name?”

“Yup. Still Dendenmushi.”

Jessica cleared her throat with a little cough and said:

“Anyway, getting back to the point—those two really are my saviors.”

“Then… that amazing senpai you told me about ten years ago… was that Ann and Dendenmushi-san?”

Back in her teenage years, fresh out of magic school, Jessica had once been tricked into joining a shady, exploitative party.

They worked her to the bone, and then one day, deep in a dungeon, she ran out of mana. Her teammates, deeming her『useless』abandoned her on the spot.

Right as she stood on the brink of death, it was Ann and her crew who came to the rescue.

“Yeah, that’s them!”

“I see… Small world, huh.”

And sure enough—Ann really was…

“Ann was an elite adventurer all along.”

Actually, there are cases—rare but not unheard of—where someone registers again as a new adventurer, starting over from F-rank.

People who’ve had long gaps in activity, changed professions or just want a fresh start for their own reasons. Most of the time, they do so by moving to a different region entirely.

Why? Because…

“Ann was a top-tier adventurer active here in Loa, right? How come no one’s recognized her?”

If she had been in a high-ranking team, surely someone around the city would remember her. That’s what Kachua was wondering.

“Oh, they used to disguise themselves whenever they were in public” Jessica answered plainly.

“Seriously?”

“Yeah, especially Anneria-senpai. And, well… she got a bit bigger… I mean, her appearance has changed too.”

“Huh, I guess it is easy to go unnoticed.”

After the laundry came the next task—prepping side dishes for later meals.

On today’s menu: everyone’s favorite meatballs, a refreshing carrot salad (carottes râpées) made by seasoning shredded carrots with olive oil and lemon, and chicken rolls—vegetables wrapped in chicken thigh.

The labyrinth city of Loa was a city for adventurers.

As such, food preservation and portable meal techniques had become highly advanced. Shelf-stable bread and pastries were a given, along with pickled meats, vegetables, and fish in oil or vinegar. There were also various herb and spice blends—『just one shake and your dish is done!』—all-purpose seasonings that were especially popular.

These weren’t just for adventurers—housewives loved them too as time-savers.

For today’s chicken rolls, Kachua used a product called 『All-Purpose Seasoning (Kid’s Edition)』—low in salt but rich in broth, designed to be gentle on the body.

As Kachua and Jessica chatted in the kitchen while prepping the food, the conversation continued.

“There were… a lot of reasons, but the two of them had to quit being adventurers. That’s why I’m really happy we reunited.”

“Yeah, it’s such a coincidence. We’ll help however we can.”

“Thanks, that means a lot. But don’t push yourself, okay? For Ed and the others, too.”

“Thanks, Jessica.”

Jessica then leaned in closer and said quietly:

“This is just between us, but… we’ve also sent requests to other teams—ones with high Luck stats. Like jesters, merchants, gamblers… that kind of party.”

“There are teams like that?”

“Yep, they’re treasure hunters who never miss their mark. They might end up completing the quest before you guys. So seriously, don’t overdo it.”

“Got it. Sounds like a lot of teams are involved in this.”

“Mhm. I can’t say much, but there are materials needed from the upper floors too, and the A-rank teams are handling those.”

“Hmm…”

“But even those teams haven’t gotten the items yet.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. From what I hear, they’re really struggling with it.”

After that, Jessica worked up the courage to ask something.

“Hey… mind if I ask? Does Gamma Team’s insane luck actually have something to do with your skill, Kachua?”

“Yeah, it does.”

“I knew it… Don’t worry, I won’t report it to anyone.”

“Thanks. The skill is called 【Housewife】—the name’s kinda goofy, but it’s apparently a pretty good support skill. Still, I decided not to spread the word too much. It’s probably better if people don’t know. So I’d appreciate you keeping it to yourself.”

“『Pretty good』is an understatement.”

Jessica gave her a slightly exasperated look.

“I won’t tell a soul. But can I ask what your plan is?”

“I’m not really sure yet. But you know that weekly flyer we get? There’s something called Rare Week in there.”

“Wait, that’s a thing?”

“Yeah. During that week, rare monsters spawn way more often.”

“That’s hilarious.”

Jessica burst out laughing.

“It’s honestly kind of unbelievably worth it.”

“It’s not all fun and games, though. Last time during Rare Week, I drew that Queen Frost-Iron Ant and it was chaos.”

“Haaa. But if that Rare Week thing rolls around again, you’ll be able to aim for the Rare-Rare Mushroom, right?”

“Yeah, that’s the idea. But see, I talked with Ann about this too… The thing is, we only find out about Rare Week from a flyer, so I have no idea when it’ll happen.”

“So you’re totally at the mercy of the flyer, huh.”

“Yep. But if it comes, I’ll let you know right away.”

“Thanks, I’d really appreciate that. The sooner the better.”

“Yeah… You guys have your hands full too.”

And just as they were chatting, a single sheet of paper fluttered down in front of Kachua’s eyes.

“Huh?”

Speak of the devil—it was the dungeon flyer.

When she looked at it, Kachua froze. Her eyes widened, and she let out a gasp.

“Eh? Oh no…”

“What’s wrong?”

“It says this week is… Rare Week.”
