- Chapter 21 - Searching for Potion Ingredients - Part 2
Kachua and her group’s next destination was the fourteenth floor.
There, they aimed to obtain a drop item called《Unlucky Honey》from the bee-type monster known as the Giant Bee.
Just like its name suggests, 《Unlucky Honey》is a rare type of honey that has the strange effect of lowering one’s『Luck』stat.
While it can be dropped by Giant Bees, the drop rate is extremely low.
If one wants to ensure they get the honey, the optimal method is to collect it directly from the hive. However, if the hive is attacked, the Giant Bees go into a berserk frenzy and attack as a swarm.
That would be a serious problem.
Apparently, the Giant Bees have a strong preference for the nectar of a flower called Hachibana—a blossom with eight petals that only blooms on days with an 8 in them—found in a meadow some distance away from their hive.
On those『8 days』, the entire swarm heads out to gather nectar, which presents the perfect opportunity. Rick, whose thief skills had leveled up and who had recently learned『Stealth』, would quietly sneak into their hive during this window.

Their next destination was the fifteenth floor, where the Hundred-Year Turtle dwelled. Its shell was said to be harder than iron, yet somehow still elastic.
The quickest way to get the shell as a drop was to crush it while the turtle was still alive—but with ordinary weapons, the weapons themselves would break first.
The only alternative was to defeat it by attacking areas other than its shell, but that method drastically reduced the drop rate of the shell.
“If we had mithril-class ultra-high-grade weapons, we could probably manage.”
“But there’s no way we can afford that right now.”
Mithril weapons were indeed sold at the weapon shop but they were outrageously expensive.
Kachua and her party had been using flyers and promotions to earn money efficiently and were quite a profitable group… but even so, it was still too costly.
If they pooled every coin the party had saved for emergencies, they might just be able to afford the smallest mithril knife. That was about it.
In the end, it seemed their only option was to go the slow route—hunt Hundred-Year Turtles one by one and pray for a low-probability drop.
At least, that’s what they thought until—
“Let me give it a shot. I want to see if my spear can pierce it” Ann said.
“I don’t mind but…”
Ann’s weapon was an old, well-worn spear.
Og and Rick had long since saved up and upgraded their weapons, but Ann had made it this far using the same spear she’d started with.
“Don’t you want to replace it?” Kachua had asked her once.
“It’s like my partner. I’ll use it till it breaks” Ann had replied. She clearly had no intention of changing it.
“You sure it won’t snap?” Rick asked worriedly.
Everyone in the party knew how much Ann treasured that spear.
“If it breaks, it breaks,” Ann answered coolly.
The party headed to the fifteenth floor and located a Hundred-Year Turtle.
At first glance, it looked just like a massive boulder.
The turtle was fast asleep, limbs and head fully withdrawn into its shell.
The proper way to defeat it was to first wake it up, wait for it to extend its limbs and then attack but the battle was known to drag on for quite some time.
The Hundred-Year Turtle Shell, known for its incredible hardness and durability, was highly sought after as a weapon and armor material. But due to how difficult it was to obtain, it rarely made it to the market.
“I’ll go in alone first.”
Ann whispered to the party as she glanced back, then—with a speed that caught everyone off guard—she dashed toward the Hundred-Year Turtle and leapt onto its back.
“Yaaah!”
With that shout and all her strength behind it, she delivered a powerful, focused strike.
In the next instant, a loud crack! rang out as the Hundred-Year Turtle’s shell shattered.
Kachua and her party obtained a Hundred-Year Turtle Shell!
“That was amazing!”
The battle was over and the ones who had been watching. Her own party was the most excited.
“To think she took down that giant turtle in one hit…”
“Told you, right? If you hit the exact core, you can break anything.”
Ann gave a wink.
“Ahh… finally, my instincts in real combat are starting to come back.”
She murmured with a pleased smile.

They had now gathered three out of the five ingredients needed for the【Supreme Status Ailment Cure Potion】.
However, what Kachua and her group still needed wasn’t just the ingredients.
They were still searching for the second volume of The Complete Guide to Supreme Potions Volume II but so far, it remained unfound.
One day, after finishing her housework, Kachua didn’t head to the dungeon—instead, she made her way to the elementary school that Ed attended.
After some discussion between Ed and Kachua, they had decided to challenge the Junior Division of Loa Academy.
They would ask Ed’s teacher for a recommendation.
The three of them—Ed, his teacher, and Kachua—held a meeting, during which they made the request for a letter of recommendation.
“I understand. Leave Ed’s recommendation to me.”
“Thank you very much.”
According to the teacher, being recommended didn’t guarantee acceptance.
There was a first screening based on documents and only those who passed that would move on to the second round—a written exam.
It was a narrow gate indeed.
“This works out perfectly. In fact, next weekend there’s going to be a school tour for students recommended to the Junior Division of the Academy,” the teacher said.
“A school tour?” Kachua asked.
“It’s an event where students can tour the inside of Loa Academy through a kind of walk-rally format.”
“A walk-rally… That’s where you solve quizzes while walking around, right?”
Kachua asked, a bit puzzled.
“Yes. Apparently, the quizzes are quite difficult, and many people don’t even make it to the end.”
“Haa…”
As expected of Loa Academy’s Junior Division—even the school tour was tough.
“But don’t worry—it doesn’t affect the selection process. It’s simply a rare opportunity to enter parts of Loa Academy that aren’t open to the general public. If you’re lucky, you might even get to see the Academy’s research labs, the Grand Library or the main school building where the students attend classes.”
The teacher spoke with visible excitement.
Upon hearing that, Kachua thought, “Huh?”
“Um, isn’t the school tour for the Junior Division of Loa Academy?”
“The Junior Division is indeed located within Loa Academy but the tour itself takes place around the main campus and its surroundings. Since the Junior Division is an area where minors live, even parents and guardians usually aren’t allowed to enter unless they’re school staff.”
Apparently, because Loa Academy proper is considered a university and thus more public in nature, these kinds of events are sometimes open to the general public.
“Parental accompaniment is required for the tour. There will be a lot of walking, so if you plan to participate, I think it’s better if Ed’s father goes with him.”
“…………”
At those words, Kachua and Ed exchanged glances.
Their father, Alan, was currently away on border patrol and not at home.
“Then I guess I’ll…”
Ed began to say he wouldn’t go, when—
“My husband is currently stationed far away, so Ed and I will go together,”
Kachua replied firmly.
“I hear there’ll be quite a bit of walking” the teacher said with concern.
While female adventurers weren’t uncommon, many women in this era tended not to go out much, so he worried it might be too taxing for her.
But Kachua gave a bright smile.
“I work as a porter in the dungeon. I’m quite confident when it comes to walking.”
Kachua had a slender build and looked like an ordinary woman.
She wasn’t muscular like a typical adventurer, didn’t have a sharp gaze, nor did she seem particularly intellectual.
Rather, she gave off a kind and slightly unreliable impression.
You really can’t judge people by appearances, the teacher thought as he said,
“I see. Then the two of you, enjoy the tour.”
It was true that such tours might suit male guardians more but there was no issue with dropping out midway if needed and it wasn’t as if the school tour affected the selection process.
Just experiencing the atmosphere of the prestigious Loa Academy would be a great benefit for Ed.
That’s what the teacher thought.
