How could the rags she picked up be compared to those goodies?

When she thought about it, Bai Qiuye was immediately full of complaints.

Mo Jie and the others looked down on her props and acted weirdly.

Even though he knew that Bai Qiuye had the support of a mysterious big brother behind her, Chen Chen was still shocked by Bai Qiye’s lavish use of props.

What kind of big brother would be able to afford this rookie who spent props like water?

Even the top 200 can’t afford to feed her.

He subconsciously glanced at Mo Jie, who knew a top 200 expert.

A bright light flashed through Mo Jie’s lenses.

He also realised.

With Bai Qiuye carrying so many defences, even the slowest person could guess that she was definitely not an abandoned rice bug.

On the contrary, she was well protected.

‘Fortunately, I took good care of her, otherwise I would have been hated by that person.”

He raised his eyes just in time to collide with Chen Chen’s twinkling eyes and Liu He’s thoughtful look.

”I guess they know as well. Chen Chen should have known even earlier than me. No wonder his attitude towards Bai Qiuye changed drastically before.”

Mo Jie pushed up the frame of his glasses and said to Bai Qiuye, ”We can wash the bones later, you don’t need to do anything.

Bai Qiuye thought that Mo Jie was quite a gentleman.

But if she didn’t do anything, she was only afraid that they would have an opinion.

But if she didn’t do anything, she was afraid they would have problems.

She said, “Then I’ll carry the lamp.”

Chen Chen rushed forward and grabbed the lamp from her hand, “No, no, no, you don’t have to carry the lamp either.”

Bai Qiuye’s hands were empty, “But…”

Liu He said weakly, “Protect yourself.”

Bai Qiye stood dazed.

But her proficiency level is 1580%.

Mo Jie picked up the boning knife and touched the corpse’s skin with the tip. Like cutting a piece of tofu, the tip of the knife didn’t go in quickly, and an unknown liquid flowed out of the wound.

Bai Qiuye watched from the side, “You really don’t need my help?”

Mo Jie: “You really don’t need to, just stand next to me, if you’re tired find a rock to sit on first.

Bai Qiye: “…”

Mo Jie and Liu He used hatchets and branches to help dismantle the body, just like removing the bones from a chicken foot.

The stench of the corpse grew stronger around them, and the ground was full of rotten fat and blood, as well as skin so soft that it fell off at the slightest touch.

The stench of the corpse mingled with the smell of the oil lamps, making their heads spin and their stomachs vaguely nauseous.

They had already removed most of the flesh, and the bones, with red fascia still hanging from them, lay neatly on the ground.

Bai Qiuye looked around, then bowed her head and asked them, “You’ve finished picking, I’ll carry it to wash.

Liu He: “No need.”

Bai Qiuye: “Fine, go ahead.”

The two of them put the picked bones into the stream.

Washing the bones was different from picking them, and they had to be touched directly with their hands.

The touch made both men’s faces ugly.

After rinsing off the muscle and fat attached to the bones, they hurriedly placed them on the blanket that had wrapped the corpse before, moving as quickly as if they were throwing away a hot potato.

Bai Qiuye: “Look-”

Mo Jie lowered his head, not daring to be distracted, “There’s really no need for you to-”

“I didn’t mean that.” Bai Qiuye raised her hand and pointed across the river, “Look over there.”

The river flowed swiftly in the piercing wind, and the sound of the water at the same frequency deafened their hearing. The reflection of the hillside on the other side looked like a dead camel lying on the ground. The dim yellow halo of the corpse oil lamp brought no warmth, but a coldness more lifeless than bronze.

There should only be the four of them on either side of this stream.

But now, on the opposite side of the stream, directly facing them, there were several faint silhouettes.

“What is that?” Mo Jie’s cold sweat instantly soaked his shirt as he lowered his voice to ask.

What is that?

When did it appear?

Why did he not notice it?

The light cast by the corpse oil lamp shook violently as Chen Chen’s hands trembled.

“Is it a ghost?” Sweat streaked across his temples and dripped down his chin onto the back of his hand, “Let’s get out of here, How long will it take for you to wash the corpse?”

“Don’t panic.” Mo Je reassured them, “I would be done soon.”

Then they heard a voice from the opposite side.

“The corpse is soaked in dead water, and the bones are washed in living water. It is very vicious and resentful, so avoid it by burning a lamp.”

Mo Jie’s body shook, that was his voice.

Immediately after, they heard Chen Chen speak again.

“You said Widow Du asked us to wash her husband’s bones, is it because her husband died unjustly?”

Chen Chen’s face turned pale, “That’s what I just said.”

The shadows on the other side seemed to be completely unaware of their existence, repeating their previous conversation over and over again.

They didn’t look threatening at all. But the more this happened, the more terrifying they became.

It was at this moment that they approached the edge of the stream.

What met their eyes was a piercing red colour, these people were not only dressed in red, even the colour of their hats was red, and they walked like weeds blown by the wind.

They were carrying a coffin, but it was tied with red silk flowers, and in front of the coffin was a word of happiness, it seemed as if they had just left a wedding.

Suddenly, the suona began to play a song with a cheerful rhythm. But the more cheerful it was, the stranger it was in this environment.

“A wedding?”

Twenty years ago was Widow Du’s wedding night.

It was also the night her husband died suddenly and violently.

Bai Qiuye sucked in a breath of cool air, “Twenty years ago, The band hired for the wedding didn’t leave, and changed the tune to play funeral music.”

Chen Chen said in horror, “They were the band back then?”

Liu He’s complexion changed slightly, “If they see us…”

Bai Qiuye: “What will happen then?”
