Mo Jie hurriedly asked, “Fu Yao?”

The paper figurine said, “It’s … it’s me …”

Mo Jie asked, “How much has your body turned into paper?”

Fu Yao said, “80%. I … I can’t … move …”

It was very difficult for her to communicate. It took her a long time to say a complete sentence.

Bai Qiuye touched her body and felt that her fingertips were cold. “As long as she’s not 100%, she can be saved. But she really can’t move now. ”

Not only could she not move, but she was also very fragile, like a piece of paper that would break at the slightest touch.

Mo Jie asked, “How did you get like this?”

Fu Yao stammered, “I… was… tricked… Look ahead.”

They looked back at the “ahead” Fu Yao had mentioned.

There was only an offering table. Memorial tablets stood on the table, as if the deceased were enshrined and staring at them.

Liu He asked, “Is there a secret behind the offering table?”

Fu Yao nodded slowly and said, “I… have a bottle of water with me…”

Bai Qiuye reached out and touched a small pocket-sized bottle. There was something black in it, but she didn’t know what it was.

Fu Yao nodded and seemed to have used up all her strength. “Pour it for me.”

Bai Qiuye did as she said. Thick black drops of water dripped onto her body. Fu Yao’s expression was as if thousands of arrows had pierced her heart, but the paper on her hands and feet had faded considerably.

“Thank you -” Fu Yao fainted before she could finish her sentence.

Bai Qiuye was speechless.

She was really ruthless.

She always felt that there were hidden dragons and crouching tigers among the people who came to this dungeon.

She was very scared.

They gently lifted Fu Yao and moved her to the edge of the ancestral hall.

“Her recovery is only temporary, but she can hold out until midnight when we break the curse of resentment.” Mo Jie pushed up his glasses. “Otherwise, we can only die together.”

Bai Qiuye turned to look at the display on the offering table and found that it was a little different from the previous quest cycles.

The fruit dish on the table was gone. Instead, it was replaced by a white porcelain plate stained with blood. A black flower was drawn on it, devouring flesh and blood.

“It looks like a tribute,” Mo Jie said. “But this tribute is raw.”

Bai Qiuye had only entered this dungeon once and had no experience with such things. So she asked Mo Jie, “Will it trigger some kind of mechanism when it’s placed on the table?”

“It’s possible, but it could also be a curse.” Mo Jie said, “Look, the blood stains on this plate are fresh, which means that someone put the tribute on it not long ago.

Bai Qiuye reached out and pinched a piece of black fur next to the offering table. “It belongs to the cat.”

Most of the tributes were black cats.

But there was nothing left on the plate except some cat fur and blood.

It was as if it had been licked clean.

She asked, “Could it be that Fu Yao brought them here?”

Fu Yao was the only one who was with the cat.

Mo Jie shook his head. “Not necessarily. It could have been someone else. But the curse has already affected her. You forgot that Widow Du asked us to come to the ancestral hall to find answers. How did she know? Is it possible that she’s the mastermind? ”

Bai Qiuye’s heart trembled.

Indeed, with the gold and silver paper cut in such a way, Widow Du looked the most suspicious.

She didn’t know what Fu Yao had encountered after they left.

Bai Qiuye’s heart was filled with the thought of retreating.

But she wanted to unravel the mystery of the paper and place the tribute.

No one could predict whether what awaited them would be the answer or a higher level of paperisation.

Had it been in the past, she would have gone back to make a detailed and comprehensive plan, listing at least 20 solutions to unexpected situations and 20 escape routes.

But now she had no time to think.

Because this time the task would not be repeated. The only outcome was to leave or die.

“Do I have to use my plan…”

Bai Qiuye’s eyes suddenly became firm.

This was a risk she had to take.

At the very least, she had to survive this day.

Before that, she had to be fully prepared.

Liu He said, “We also need to find a tribute.

Bai Qiuye took the opportunity to say, “I know where to find it.

Mo Jie was startled. “Is it that little girl?”

He saw that Bai Qiuye had just picked up a toy, and immediately associated it with the bloody toad in the little girl’s hand.

If Bai Qiuye exchanged the toy, she would definitely be able to get it back.

This was just like the NPCs with key mission items in other dungeons.

Mo Jie said, “I’ll go with you.”

Bai Qiuye said, “But there isn’t much time left. We have to get into the coffin.”

Mo Jie patted his head. “I actually forgot about that.”

In addition to solving the paper curse, the deadline for the second task was fast approaching.

Because of the strange shape of the gold and silver paper, they couldn’t use it for the time being, but there were still other tasks to be completed.

For example, the coffin walls had to be lined with paper and green hemp sticks had to be placed inside. The floor of the coffin also had to be covered with a layer of straw paper, quilts and pillows.

They also had to light candles at the end of the coffin so that the souls of the dead would be illuminated as they entered the underworld.

They also had to prepare the money for the dead, as well as the banner guiding the soul and elegiac couplets.

Most importantly, the corpse was now a skeleton and they had to restore it.
Finally, they had to cover the head with a red cloth and place red silk in front of the body.

Even if Bai Qiuye didn’t exchange the tribute, the three of them were already 40% paperized and couldn’t move freely. It would take a long time to make these preparations.

Mo Jie hesitated for a moment. He was worried that Bai Qiuye would be in danger if she went alone.

Suddenly, he thought of the knife with 999 seconds of damage and the great god behind Bai Qiuye. He suddenly felt that his worries were unnecessary.

Of the three of them, Bai Qiuye was the safest.

Not long after Bai Qiuye left the ancestral hall, she saw a small figure flash by from the other side of the street.

She chased after it for a while and suddenly realised that the moonlight seemed to have turned red. The houses on both sides of the street were like dens of fear. Strangeness and eeriness spread through the street at the same time.

Is it a ghost hitting the wall again?

She looked down the endless street in front of her and frowned.

Was it the child? No, the child had no reason to harm her.

She suspected that it was Zhong Ying’s evil spirit, but it had been scared away for some reason. With its cowardly appearance, there was no way it could make a comeback.

“I didn’t see any ghost.” Bai Qiuye tidied her hair helplessly.

Bai Qiuye didn’t realize that all the peace talismans in her pocket had turned to ashes.

Lying in the middle of the ashes was the golden boy Mo Jie had given her.

If Bai Qiuye took the golden boy out, she would see that its smiling eyes had opened at some point.

An evil aura spread out from it, twisting the village road at night.

The reason for the ghost appearing was Bai Qiuye.

This golden boy was originally the boss of a level 40 copy.

Although some of its power had been weakened and it had been reduced to a special item, it was still extremely evil.

But Bai Qiuye was a novice with no common sense, and she didn’t know that this kind of item needed to recognise its owner.

As soon as the protection time expired, the golden boy immediately went out of control.

One of its heads had just been crushed by the red paper doll, and its vitality had been severely damaged.

Therefore, it was in desperate need of blood to regain its strength.

Bai Qiuye was its primary target.

But when he woke up, he found himself stuffed inside a peace talisman.
He had to use a lot of energy to turn all the safety talismans into ashes.

His malice grew, and he couldn’t wait to eat Bai Qiuye alive.

The Golden Boy decided to temporarily trap Bai Qiuye inside the ghost wall.

When it regained some of its power, that would be the time for Bai Qiuye to become its food.

For some reason, Bai Qiuye couldn’t find a way out, but no ghosts came to harm her.

She had no choice but to stop and shout into the void, “Come hit me if you can, don’t hide!”

Under normal circumstances, she would never say such a thing. It was too careless.

But now was a special time, and special treatment was needed.

Standing in the street, her vest was cold. Bai Qiuye unconsciously reached out to touch the peace talisman, but all she touched was ash.

She took her hand out. “Why is it all ash?”

Suddenly realising that there was still a Golden Boy in her pocket, she brushed the ash from her hand. “Ah, I didn’t think carefully. How could I put this thing together with the safety talisman? They work against each other.”

Hearing this, the evil aura around the golden child grew thicker.

It was ready. As long as Bai Qiuye put her hand back into her pocket, it would…

Bai Qiuye put her hand in again, but this time she was holding a small person with a round head and an umbrella body.

The golden boy was shocked. The vengeful soul and the golden eagle were actually showing signs of splitting apart.

This was – an existence that was more evil, more insidious, and more terrifying than she was.

This was – a vessel containing tens of thousands of vengeful souls.

This was – a curse itself, a curse that could kill curses.

He couldn’t stay here. If he did, he would be swallowed up by this little person.

Crack!

The golden boy fell out of Bai Qiuye’s pocket and onto the ground. A crack appeared on his right arm.

Bai Qiuye was shocked.

Mo Jie had said that the Golden Boy couldn’t be exposed! If exposed, it would curse the owner!

She quickly picked it up and put it back into her bag.

When Bai Qiuye realised that she hadn’t been cursed, she covered her pocket in shock. “What’s going on? I can’t let it fall out again.”

The golden boy was speechless.

When Bai Qiuye looked up, the street had returned to its original appearance.

Confused, she continued walking towards Master Wang’s house. She hadn’t taken two steps when she saw the little girl running towards her.

The little girl stood in the distance, like a wild cat that had come to beg for food, alert and ready to retreat at any moment.

“Doll.”

“Here you go.” Bai Qiuye handed her the pony doll, thinking she could finally complete this mission.

The little girl’s eyes lit up as she happily ran over and hugged the pony doll.
