All The Villain Wants Is Money - Chapter 10
Bai Ying had been a beauty since childhood, but she was far from being a dunce. In fact, as the only daughter of the Bai family, she was very clear about what she wanted and had always been working hard towards it.
She never relied on her beauty. Instead, she focused on her studies, made connections with high society, and tried to revive her family’s declining business.
Naturally, the original Xie Gu was one of the people she had befriended, but it wasn’t because he was particularly impressive—it was because he had a wealthy father.
Even so, Bai Ying never really regarded Xie Gu highly.
Once, Xie Gu had liked her and wanted to get engaged. Bai Ying had tacitly accepted the idea but had never intended to follow through on the engagement. She had simply been waiting for the right time to break it off. The reason was simple—she looked down on Xie Gu.
In recent years, the Bai family had risen in power, and Bai Ying had long lost any patience with Xie Gu. She had grown increasingly dismissive of him, just waiting to call off the engagement. Who would have thought that Xie Gu, in an attempt to prove himself to her, had quietly gone to the capital to make a name for himself, even causing a rift with Xie Wentang in the process?
Under these circumstances, Bai Ying couldn’t bring herself to initiate the breakup. If she expressed her intention to cancel the engagement right after Xie Gu had shown loyalty, it would not only make her seem heartless but could also lead to retaliation from the Xie family.
She could only quietly bide her time, waiting for the right moment. However, just when it seemed the opportunity was finally approaching, before she could even come up with the right words, Xie Wentang gave her father a call and the engagement was called off.
It was said that Xie Gu had requested it himself.
Bai Ying was furious, but she also couldn’t believe it. Xie Gu had been so infatuated with her, how could he possibly have voluntarily broken off the engagement?
This situation had thoroughly humiliated her, but Bai Ying’s usual caution kept her from confronting Xie Gu directly. She had her own matters to attend to, and before long, news spread that Xie Gu had sold his family’s coal mine, with the buyer being the Li family.
The Li family was a powerful clan.
Bai Ying thought to herself that Xie Gu was too stup*d. If it were her, she would have immediately used the connection with the Li family to her advantage. With the Li family eating the meat and the Bai family drinking the soup, she could have easily built a wealthy family.
But Xie Gu, instead, chose to mess around with his father’s struggling Gu Fei Catering business.
After that, Bai Ying stopped paying attention to the Xie family’s news. Between Xie Gu’s foolishness and Xie Wentang’s old age, the Xie family seemed finished.
She never expected to run into Xie Gu again in the capital.
Perhaps out of a strange sense of competition, Bai Ying didn’t pretend not to see him. Instead, she proactively approached him and greeted Xie Gu.
What would Xie Gu’s reaction be?
Anger? Losing composure? Or perhaps once again expressing his feelings for her?
But it certainly wouldn’t be a bewildered expression with a detached tone asking, “Who are you?”
It had been almost a year since they last met, so how could Xie Gu not recognize her?
Bai Ying didn’t believe it. She sneered coldly, “You can keep pretending.”
Xie Gu still looked puzzled. In truth, he genuinely did not remember who she was, so he sincerely replied, “I’m not.”
But soon, he received a prompt from the system. After realizing that the woman was Bai Ying, he paused for a moment, finally connecting her to the concept of a female lead.
Bai Ying watched as Xie Gu’s expression shifted, already convinced that he was just pretending.
She couldn’t be bothered to engage with Xie Gu’s behavior any longer, so she left with a parting remark. “Let’s see how long you can keep pretending.”
This was the first time that Domineering CEO Xie (Xie Gu) truly felt what it was like to be speechless.
“Do I look like a id*ot?” Xie Gu asked the system sincerely.
The system paused for a moment before answering honestly: “You don’t look like one.”
Xie Gu was born with good looks and no one could call him a id*ot based on his appearance. But sometimes, his actions…
Then Xie Gu reached a conclusion. “I guess I’m still not rich enough.”
The system responded slowly with a question mark.
“If I were rich enough, they’d only look at my wealth in awe and wouldn’t call me an id*ot,” Xie Gu patiently explained, “Do you know why?”
Once again the system slowly replied with a question mark.
“Because if you were an id*ot, they’d have the chance to rob you,” Xie Gu chuckled softly, “Unfortunately, these fools will never realize that someone with so much wealth could never be an actual id*ot.”
The system was silent.
“Why aren’t you giving out any question marks anymore?” Xie Gu asked. “If you agree with what I said, you should write it down. Who knows, it might become a famous saying one day. When it happens, you’ll be the first listener. How lucky.”
The system finally sent another question mark.
It was just an AI, and such luck held no significance for it.
“Host, please pay attention to the completion progress of the mission,” it stiffly reminded him. “Saying profound words won’t increase your points.”
“Got it,” Xie Gu said, feeling quite pleased after teasing the system. “Aren’t I helping you make progress?”
The system suddenly realized its last question mark had been sent prematurely. It was still too inexperienced.
“Do you remember that patron of talent who helped Xu Yucheng?” Xie Gu asked.
The system searched its memory bank and spat out a name. “Mu Qi’an.”
At this point, Xie Gu had already left the previous location and went straight to the flagship store of Gu Fei Catering.
The manager had already received word of his arrival and was waiting at the door. As soon as he saw Xie Gu approaching, he immediately greeted him respectfully. “President Xie, President Mu is already waiting for you in the private room.”
Xie Gu nodded. “Then let’s go in.”
The system: “?”
Fine, a question mark it is. Right now, it just wants to type a question mark.
The manager led the way and the two arrived in front of a large private room. The waiter came over and opened the door, so Xie Gu stepped in first and nodded with a smile toward the only woman in the room. “Sorry to keep you waiting, President Mu.”
Mu Qi’ an, nearing forty, still had a captivating appearance, but her expression was cold, making her seem even more distant than Bai Ying.
She looked at Xie Gu, discreetly sized him up, and then nodded. “Young President Xie, you’re too polite.”
