Chapter 15:Another Ticket

Jiang Yinian imagined He Wenshuo wearing a little skirt for a moment, then immediately shook his head to dismiss the thought.

He Wenshuo lay leisurely on the lawn for a few minutes, but the constant vibration of his phone in his pocket untimely disrupted the tranquility.

The weekend homework group chat was particularly lively.

Tao Hao: Image shared

Tao Hao: Sunny weather, handsome guy and beautiful girl such a perfect day for showing off affection.

The photo showed He Wenshuo and Jiang Yinian holding hands while strolling along the path, immediately drawing out many idle people in the group.

Guo Jian: ……I have reason to suspect he did this intentionally to show off to us.

Tao Hao: @He Wenshuo @He Wenshuo @He Wenshuo

Zhu Xing: The photo is nice, don’t get me wrong, but He Wenshuo in the picture really doesn’t match well standing next to her.

Guo Jian: Listen to my analysis, really, seriously.

He Wenshuo: What do you mean doesn’t match? Do you even know your own prescription? Keep your opinions to yourself.

Zhu Xing: Heaven knows I’m being objective here. Besides, I’m wearing glasses.

He Wenshuo: Sneak photos are despicable.

Tao Hao: Buddy, you brought your partner out to show off, and now you won’t let us take photos? Stop pretending!

He Wenshuo: I only let you look, not take photos.

Just after He Wenshuo finished typing, he saw a line of text pop up in the chat screen You have been muted by the administrator for one hour.

He Wenshuo snorted and turned off his phone. Those guys were clearly just jealous, after all, they only knew how to stay in their dorm rooms chatting and playing games on weekends.

Jiang Yian turned to look at He Wenshuo: What’s wrong?

He Wenshuo sat up to complain: They’re always bullying me!

Jiang Yinian responded with an oh: Since when have you been so easy to bully?

He Wenshuo sat up, shifting left and right to adjust his position, then lay back down, perfectly pillowing his head on Jiang Yinian’s crossed legs: I just don’t want to bother arguing with them that much.

He was busy he had to eat with Jiang Yinian every day, call home, attend classes, do homework, live his life. Where would he find the time?

Monday came again, and most people hadn’t recovered from the weekend, not really in the right state to listen to lectures.

During the noon break after classes, Jiang Yinian had just left the classroom when someone called out to him.

Jiang Yinian.

It was Qin Tu, holding his textbooks as he quickly caught up in two steps.

Last time I heard you say you wanted to go to MNJOK’s concert. Did you manage to get tickets?

Tickets? Jiang Yinian shook his head: Not yet.

With the concert date approaching, suitable tickets were still unavailable. He had already considered buying tickets that weren’t in the same section, planning to figure things out after entering the venue maybe negotiate with someone to swap seats and pay the difference, though that might be troublesome.

Qin Tu looked at Jiang Yinian: I have two tickets here, with pretty good seats.

Jiang Yinian asked: Are they adjacent seats?

Qin Tu smiled: Yes.

Jiang Yinian didn’t ask for more details. At times like this, having adjacent seats was already rare enough. He said directly: How much for both tickets? I’ll transfer the money to you.

Qin Tu was taken aback, somewhat surprised: You want both tickets?

Jiang Yinian nodded: Yes, I want to bring a friend along.

But he quickly realized that Qin Tu’s reaction didn’t seem like he intended to sell him two tickets.

So he asked again, Are you planning to go too?

Yes, Qin Tu admitted frankly. I thought you only needed one ticket and was wondering if we could go together.

After thinking for a moment, Jiang Yinian suggested, Actually, I have an extra ticket here. If you don’t mind, I could buy your two adjacent tickets and give you one of mine.

Qin Tu fell silent briefly, not giving an immediate response.

Since it was a rare opportunity, Jiang Yinian pressed further, Is that okay?

Alright.

Qin Tu finally agreed. You can just pay me the original ticket price.

Thank you so much.

A smile spread across Jiang Yinian’s face. A matter that had been weighing on his mind these past few days was finally resolved—He Wenshuo wouldn’t have to pitifully wait outside the venue anymore.

Qin Tu looked at the smile on Jiang Yinian’s face and grew even more silent.

Late at night, He Wenshuo was still curled up in Jiang Yinian’s room, sitting on a chair and setting his morning alarm on his phone.

The concert was scheduled for the afternoon, and it would take about an hour and a half to get there from home, so they had plenty of time.

But he knew that Jiang Yinian paid close attention to his appearance when attending crowded events like this—he would definitely visit the barbershop.

I’ll come wake you up tomorrow morning.

Mm, sure.

Jiang Yinian was halflying on the bed as usual, scrolling through his mother’s social media updates about her daily life, occasionally stealing glances at He Wenshuo out of the corner of his eye.

He hadn’t told He Wenshuo about securing the extra ticket yet, so He Wenshuo still thought he was just tagging along.

If he told him now, he’d probably get too excited and have trouble sleeping. It would be better to wait until they arrived at the venue tomorrow. After all, as long as they had their IDs, everything would be fine.

He Wenshuo was completely unaware of Jiang Yinian’s little secret and was still worrying about the next day’s plans: After I come over tomorrow morning, I’ll pack what we need to bring.

There wasn’t much to pack anyway—just a few hours, so it wouldn’t take long. No need to rush.

Whatever works.

Jiang Yinian suddenly remembered something: Is my ID still with you?

The last time they went out together, he remembered He Wenshuo was the one who ended up keeping their documents.

He Wenshuo hummed in agreement: It’s at my place, in the drawer with mine.

Jiang Yinian specifically reminded him: Don’t forget to bring yours tomorrow too.Concerts now required realname entry.

He Wenshuo didn’t think much of it; he had planned to bring it anyway: I know.

Early morning.

He Wenshuo arrived at Jiang Yinian’s room before his phone alarm went off.

Jiang Yinian never locked his bedroom door at home, which gave He Wenshuo the opportunity to occasionally act as a human alarm clock.

The curtains in the room were lightcolored and didn’t block out much light, but that had its advantages—even with the curtains fully drawn, as long as there was light outside, the room would be bright.

He Wenshuo leaned down carefully to look at Jiang Yinian, who was still asleep. Jiang Yinian slept in a very proper position, almost exactly as he had been when he went to bed the night before. With his eyes closed, he looked gentle and soft, completely harmless.

Jiang Yinian had always been this goodlooking, ever since they were kids.

He Wenshuo watched quietly for a while, then gently shook Jiang Yinian before his phone alarm could ring.

Niannian, time to wake up.

Oh.

Jiang Yinian didn’t have morning grumpiness, but he needed two minutes after waking up to sit on the bed squinting and gathering his senses. By the time he fully came to, he saw He Wenshuo already bustling around the room—stuffing things into the backpack Jiang often carried when going out.

ID and tissues are in.

Let’s pack a power bank.

And our newly bought stickers too.

Should bring some snacks… Wait, aren’t food and drinks prohibited at concerts? Better take just a little then, you can eat some before entering.

At nine o’clock, the hair salon opened.

When Teacher Alex saw He Wenshuo again, he sought client feedback: How was the hairstyle last time? After all, it was specially designed for confronting a love rival.

Not bad.

He Wenshuo brushed it off casually and steered the conversation back, offering suggestions for Jiang Yinian’s haircut: He doesn’t like it cut too short, just a little trim. You know that already. Also, we’re a bit pressed for time today, so make it quick.

Though they had ample time, they shouldn’t waste too much at the salon.

Reading the situation, the perceptive Teacher Alex didn’t probe further and immediately got to work: Leave it to me, no problem. They were regular customers after all.

After an hour and a half drive, they arrived outside the venue. There was still some time before the concert admission began, but many people had already gathered at the entrance waiting for ticket checks.

Numerous stone benches dotted the venue exterior, warmed by the blazing sun.

He Wenshuo picked the cleanest one for Jiang Yinian: Want to sit for a while and have something to eat?

No thanks.

Jiang Yinian shook his head. The long car ride had left him with little appetite.

He Wenshuo took all the food and drinks from Jiang Yinian’s backpack and carried them himself: Since I’m waiting outside anyway, I’ll just hold these for now.

That wasn’t quite right either.

Jiang Yinian glanced at He Wenshuo, accepted the offered bottled water and took a sip, wondering how to broach the subject.

He Wenshuo scanned the surroundings while holding the snack bag—the crowd was massive. If there were this many people before opening, it would definitely get worse later. Anyone going in would inevitably get jostled, including Jiang Yinian.

He was growing uneasy about letting Jiang Yinian enter alone. But concert tickets were truly hard to come by—he’d checked later options were either unavailable or blatantly overpriced scams.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t afford it, but compared to other expenses, it felt somewhat wasteful.

He Wenshuo looked again at Jiang Yinian, who was drinking water with his head lowered, and still felt uneasy. He couldn’t help launching into anxious instructions.

When you go in later, watch your step carefully. Wear your backpack in front. Actually, why don’t we keep the call connected while you’re inside? If anything happens, I’ll know immediately.

Jiang Yinian screwed the cap back on and uttered two words: Not necessary.

Still worried, He Wenshuo insisted: Let’s do it.

Jiang Yinian took the backpack back from He Wenshuo, fished out two tickets from the deepest compartment, and waved them before He Wenshuo’s eyes with a smile: I mean, let’s go in together.

Huh?

He Wenshuo was momentarily stunned before taking the two tickets and examining them carefully, visibly surprised. These aren’t the ones I bought. The seating section and area were completely different.

I gave your original ticket to my classmate, Jiang Yinian explained. These two were sold to me by that same classmate, and the seats are next to each other.

Suddenly understanding, He Wenshuo was overwhelmed with joy. Without another word, he pulled Jiang Yinian into a tight embrace. You specifically bought these for me!

He knew how difficult it was to get these tickets—Jiang Yinian must have gone through great effort to secure another one for him.

Jiang Yinian was truly wonderful; this world simply couldn’t do without Jiang Yinian.

Jiang Yinian patted He Wenshuo’s back, signaling for him to let go. I couldn’t possibly let you wait outside the venue for hours.
