After Transmigrating into a Professional Bootlicker, I Messed Up - Chapter 79.2
Extra Story 4 Part 1 (Continued)
The doctors had concluded from the first day that Lin Luo slipped into her deep sleep in the hospital that everything was fine. But how could her father and brother accept that? You’re telling us everything is fine, that nothing is wrong? Then why did she stay asleep for half a month without waking up?
The foreign doctor could only shrug and spread his hands, looking just as confused.
Embarrassed, Lin Luo grabbed each of their hands and said very earnestly, “I was just too tired and overslept. But look, I’m awake now, aren’t I? Since I’m awake, there’s no need to worry! Let’s trust the doctors and believe in science. I’ll do a full health check if you want, and then we’ll go home once I’m cleared.”
The Lin men weren’t entirely unreasonable; they couldn’t force the doctors to say she wasn’t normal or that something was wrong. After the full check-up determined she was as healthy as a horse and could likely live to a hundred, the family finally went home.
It was impossible to pretend nothing unusual had happened, but what did it matter? As long as Lin Luo was back in one piece and wasn’t brain-damaged, that was enough.
However, as a top star who had suddenly been in a coma for half a month, Lin Luo had missed a lot of work, even though the Lin family kept everything under wraps. Thankfully, with their wealth and influence, they managed to arrange medical records claiming she’d been seriously ill, paid the necessary fees, and smoothed things over.
After all, everyone knew that if Lin Luo didn’t succeed in the entertainment industry, she would simply return to inherit a billion-yuan fortune.
But Lin Luo, mindful of the cost, immediately threw herself into completing all her current projects to reduce the losses. She was diligent and hardworking, wrapping up any work she could. Yet, she didn’t take on any new contracts or reality shows, and after finishing her last show, she announced she would be going abroad to study for a year.
Though she said she would study abroad for a year, her fans weren’t worried about her fading into obscurity. Their only concern was that she might try to become a serious actress.
“Luo Luo, trust us, beauty is enough. Don’t stress yourself by aiming for a serious role, okay? Let’s stay a beautiful airhead!”
“Sister, please, let’s just keep being charming and funny! No need to torture those poor directors with serious acting!”
“Fine, Luo Luo, whether you want to sing or act, I’ll watch no matter what! I’m all in!”
Lin Luo, recently awarded the title of a respected veteran artist, couldn’t help feeling that her fans were all fakes.
But of course, she wasn’t really planning to study. Acting was already part of her bones, a natural instinct. Her announcement about studying was to prepare for a future career transition and to give herself a year-long break to travel and explore.
It was impossible to simply forget Ji Chi’an. She missed him deeply and often wondered if he might still be out there waiting for her. She wanted to revisit the places they had once been together.
Though her father and brother were wonderful, they were busy with their own lives—her father with his work, her brother with college entrance exams and his girlfriend. She was often left alone, and when loneliness crept in, it left her feeling hollow, as if her soul was missing.
Sometimes, she’d wake up alone in her huge villa in the middle of the night and murmur out of habit, “Honey, I want some water.”
The only answer was silence.
After a long pause, she’d realize that the space beside her was cold, that there was no scent of fir and cedar, and no water cup he’d always prepared for her at her bedside.
She’d reach for her pillow, finding it damp.
She missed Ji Chi’an, the kind of longing that penetrated her bones. He was a habit embedded into her very existence, one she could no longer indulge.
Lin Luo was still Lin Luo, but now, she was Lin Luo without Ji Chi’an, and she couldn’t tell anyone about the man she had once loved as her very life. Her longing filled her heart and mind, yet no one knew. She felt like a fish trapped in a glass bowl, shut off from the world, warm and cold only to herself.
Lin Luo knew that if she didn’t go out and experience life, she might truly lose her mind. She’d start to question herself, wondering if she had hallucinated it all.
So on a rainy day, she set off, driving a striking yellow Lamborghini on a journey around the world. It was Ji Chi’an’s favorite car, and hers as well.
As the light rain fell, she opened the car’s top. She wore the dress he liked, applied the makeup he adored, and concealed her reddened eyes behind sunglasses, setting off with her heart full of memories.
Yet Lin Luo’s luck seemed to have run out after that life with Ji Chi’an. Her car broke down in the middle of a tree-lined avenue, sputtering to a halt.
In the past, if anything like this had happened, Ji Chi’an would have taken care of everything right away. Now, she had learned to call her insurance company and a repair shop herself. Leaning against the roadside railing, arms crossed, she let the rain soak her hair. Even as the rain intensified, she remained motionless, letting the water blur the tears on her face.
Until suddenly, she was covered by a shadow, and a familiar voice asked from above, “Need some help?”
The rain carried the scent of cedar. Lin Luo looked up, and there, before her, was that beloved face.
🎭 Behind the Curtain with Kliraz: Emotions, Fans, & Fate!
Lin Luo’s solitude speaks to the Asian concept of “有缘无分” (yǒu yuán wú fèn)—a destined connection that can’t last. Her yearning for Ji Chi’an is both poetic and relatable to those who believe in fate’s bittersweet hand.
The yellow Lamborghini? It’s a color associated with “noble eccentricity” in China, fitting for her “star-crossed lover on a journey” vibe. Plus, bright colors are said to attract attention on the road—ironic for a star who’s escaping attention!
Lin Luo’s grief is laced with “sublimation,” a coping strategy where intense emotions are transformed into a constructive outlet. Here, she channels her pain into travel, giving herself space to process a profound loss.
Did you know rainy scenes are a favorite trope in romance novels and dramas? The rain symbolizes cleansing and renewal—perfect for someone on a journey to find peace after a long love. Lin Luo’s reunion with Ji Chi’an in the rain is practically cinematic!
