After Transmigrating into a Professional Bootlicker, I Messed Up - Chapter 78.2
Extra Story 3 (Continued)
“Wow, that’s actually really logical! No wonder we aren’t as rich as him!”
Lin Tuan Tuan clapped her chubby little hands together. “Big Brother Ah Ling is so amazing! So amazing!”
As she shouted her excitement, her spittle flew onto her dad’s face. Meanwhile, Ji Chuling’s face turned a little red, and he proudly placed his hands under his armpits. The reason he didn’t put his hands on his waist was because his mom said kids don’t have waists.
No matter how you look at it, Ji Chi’an and his son had secured first place with an impressive score. They naturally won the right to stay in the village’s only mansion, while Lin Yuan and his daughter, who came in last place, ended up in the small straw hut next door.
Yes, a true straw hut, made from wooden frames and thatched grass.
Lin Tuan Tuan, being the innocent “silly sweet” type, felt thrilled to try something new. She hugged her dad, gave him a big smack on the cheek, and happily chirped, “Kiss!” However, reality was harsh. During their nap, things took a turn for the worse. In the summer heat and without a fan or air conditioning, the stuffiness was unbearable. Add to that the abundance of mosquitoes, and it didn’t take long for Lin Tuan Tuan to get covered in itchy red bumps.
Unable to bear the itchiness, she scratched until her skin bled. Finally, she burst into tears.
Seeing his daughter crying miserably, Lin Yuan felt his heart shatter. He quickly picked her up, rubbed herbal ointment on her skin, and fanned her to try and cool her down. However, his little princess wasn’t used to such hardship. She tried to hold back her tears for fear of making her dad sad, but she couldn’t keep from crying even harder.
Despite his usual easygoing demeanor, Lin Yuan was furious. He faced the film crew with a stern expression. “You said this was about fostering interaction among the kids and helping them grow independently, not about putting them through such hardships! What’s the point of such poor living conditions?”
“It’s fine for us adults, but kids can’t endure this. What if she gets sick?” he argued.
The crew was unfazed. They explained that experts had confirmed it was safe and appropriate for children. Moreover, there were no extra accommodations available, and there wouldn’t be any transportation until the next evening. Their choices were simple, they could either stay put or find a solution themselves.
Knowing the crew would do anything for ratings, Lin Yuan realized arguing would get him nowhere. Since they hadn’t explicitly stated that staying in the hut was mandatory, he figured he could come up with a clever workaround.
Determined, he picked up his daughter and headed to the mansion next door.
Inside, there was only a small bed, about five feet wide, which barely accommodated Ji Chi’an’s long legs. Ji Chuling lay curled up at the corner of the bed. Still, compared to the straw hut, this felt like paradise, with a fan and a mosquito net.
Wanting to teach Tuan Tuan some manners, Lin Yuan didn’t wake them. Instead, he quietly pulled up a chair and settled down with her in his arms.
Tuan Tuan remembered her dad’s lesson about not disturbing others when they were resting. She buried her face in her father’s chest, her little hands clenching tightly to stifle her sobs. After a while, she got so tired that she fell asleep, her drool and tears soaking a big patch on Lin Yuan’s shirt.
Gazing at her fondly, Lin Yuan thought, My little cabbage is so precious. This little pig of the Ji family isn’t going to win her over that easily. I’ll protect her with my life if I have to.
Ji Chi’an, who was a light sleeper, woke up, feeling someone’s intense stare. Annoyed, he rubbed his forehead and glared at Lin Yuan.
Lin Yuan didn’t back down and pointed to his miserable daughter in his arms. Ji Chi’an wasn’t completely heartless. Seeing the poor state Tuan Tuan was in, he furrowed his brows and lightly kicked Ji Chuling awake.
The little pig needed to get up if he wanted to win over the cabbage.
Ji Chuling, well-trained by his mother, woke up without any fuss. Seeing Lin Yuan and then glancing at Tuan Tuan’s injuries, he nervously invited, “Uncle Lin, she can sleep here. There are no mosquitoes.”
It was a tight fit with two small, chubby kids on the bed, so Lin Yuan was a bit hesitant. But Ji Chuling boldly declared, “My dad’s an adult; he doesn’t need a bed. He can sleep on the floor.”
Ji Chi’an: “…?”
Lin Yuan gave a satisfied nod, mentally awarding the little pig three more points.
Looking at his son’s pleading eyes, Ji Chi’an glanced at the pitiful Tuan Tuan and sighed. He got up and left the bed to make space for the kids.
After settling Tuan Tuan in, Lin Yuan and Ji Chi’an each grabbed a chair, sitting across from each other in silence.
Lin Yuan looked fondly at the two children sleeping peacefully and chuckled softly. My girl really is irresistible, but this Ji family pig won’t win her hand so easily—not until she’s at least thirty!
Chi’an shot a disapproving glance at the two little ones. He thought, My boy’s already forgotten his dad at the sight of a girl. Fine, I’ll just ship him off as soon as he’s of legal age so I can enjoy some peace and quiet with Lin Luo.
