After Transmigrating into a Professional Bootlicker, I Messed Up - Chapter 76.1
Extra Story 1
Ji Chi’an calculated—it had been exactly two months since he’d last seen Lin Luo. Every time she went abroad for a film shoot, he felt like a lonely husband pining for his absent wife.
As if that wasn’t enough, she had this magnetic aura that seemed to attract admirers everywhere. Although her title as the CEO’s wife at Jiahe Group kept people from openly using her for publicity, there were always a few brazen types who tried to cozy up to her, and it was infuriating.
Ji Chi’an glanced at the photos his PR department had sent from her film set, a cold smirk forming as he tossed his phone onto the desk. He leaned back, propping his long legs on the table.
Some bold idiot of a co-star dared to lend her his jacket—and they’d even shared an umbrella, standing way too close. Did this guy have a death wish?
Just as Ji Chi’an was scheming about how he’d “teach Lin Luo a lesson,” there was a knock at the door.
“President Ji, may I come in?” came a soft, familiar voice. Since when had she returned without telling him?
A smile tugged at Ji Chi’an’s lips. What game was this little troublemaker up to now? His smile quickly vanished, replaced by a steely expression. “Come in,” he said coolly.
The door creaked open, and in walked a petite figure, giving a polite bow. “Hello, President Ji. I’m your new secretary, Little Lin Luo.”
Ji Chi’an narrowed his eyes, taking her in. She was wearing a pink suit—one he remembered clearly from the first day he’d noticed her. He recalled her teasing words that day, “So big.” Ever since she’d stopped being his secretary, she hadn’t worn a suit, and seeing her in one again was surprisingly striking. The cut flattered her figure, accentuating her slim waist and long legs, perfectly matching his tastes.
Curious about her little game, Ji Chi’an’s eyes held a glint of amusement as he tapped his fingers on the armrest. His voice was deep. “Come here.”
Before arriving, Lin Luo had caught wind from the PR department that Ji Chi’an had seen the infamous photo. While she hadn’t done anything wrong, she felt a bit guilty, so she obediently followed his command, inching over with a sweet, slightly guilty smile.
Ji Chi’an was dressed in a black, fitted shirt that highlighted his broad shoulders and narrow waist. He wore gold-rimmed glasses, and his hair was perfectly groomed, giving him a polished yet dangerous look, especially with the faint smile at the corner of his lips.
To Lin Luo, this “old man” looked annoyingly attractive.
“What are you dressed like that for?” Ji Chi’an leaned back with his arms crossed, his gaze lazy but sharp.
Lin Luo stood at attention like a child caught misbehaving. “I’m about to take on a role in a workplace drama. I thought I’d come by to get into character.”
“What’s the story?”
“…It’s about resisting workplace harassment…”
Ji Chi’an let out a low chuckle, curling his finger to beckon her closer. “Come a little nearer.”
“Oh.” Lin Luo noticed the photo lying on the desk as she moved over, and feeling guilty, shuffled even closer. The next second, Ji Chi’an grabbed her arm and pulled her onto his lap, wrapping his arms tightly around her.
It had been two months since Lin Luo had last seen him. Now, enveloped in his warm embrace and familiar scent, her cheeks flushed, and she murmured, “What are you doing?”
With a playful glint, Ji Chi’an released one hand to pinch her reddened earlobe, his voice husky. “Giving you some firsthand experience of ‘workplace harassment.’”
Before she could respond, he tilted her chin up and kissed her. She tried to pull away, but he held her firmly in place, leaving her with no escape.
When he finally let go, Ji Chi’an smirked, licking his lips in satisfaction. “Will you still wear other men’s clothes?”
“It’s not what you think!” Lin Luo stammered, blushing. “I fell into the water, and my clothes were soaked. I didn’t think much about it at the time…”
Ji Chi’an didn’t seem interested in her explanation. His grip on her waist tightened. “Will you wear another man’s clothes again?”
“No, no, I won’t!” Lin Luo squeaked, practically melting into his chest, snuggling up and softly pleading.
But it seemed Ji Chi’an wasn’t done with her. At some point, he’d begun unbuttoning her blazer. With a quiet gasp, she quickly stifled her voice. “Ji Chi’an, what are you doing? We’re in the office!”
Lin Luo tried to push him away, but he held her firmly in place. Behind his refined gold-rimmed glasses, his face was cool and composed, and his black shirt remained perfectly unwrinkled. He looked all restraint and control—yet his hands betrayed a different story, radiating an unmistakable heat.
🧐 Kliraz’s Curious Cat Corner: Jealousy, Office Drama & Role-Playing Shenanigans 🧐
Ji Chi’an’s intense jealousy and “possessive” side reflect a classic protective dynamic in Chinese romance, often symbolized by the phrase 护妻狂魔 (hù qī kuáng mó), or “wife-protecting maniac.” It’s an endearing way to say he’ll guard his beloved from anything, even imaginary threats. (*^ω^)
Did you know? Workplace dramas are hugely popular in China and often highlight social issues like harassment, ambition, and romance. Lin Luo’s choice to play a workplace role aligns with her character’s growth—tackling tough topics in her acting!
Ji Chi’an’s clingy and assertive response to that photo shows signs of reactive jealousy, a protective behavior triggered by perceived “threats” to his relationship. Instead of confrontation, he’s using proximity and charm to re-establish their bond—classic romance behavior!
Those gold-rimmed glasses Ji Chi’an wears? In Chinese dramas, glasses on a male lead often signal a “wolf in sheep’s clothing”—gentle on the outside, but fierce and intense in love! Ji Chi’an is the perfect fit for this trope! (◕ω◕)
