After Transmigrating into a Professional Bootlicker, I Messed Up - Chapter 73
Lin Luo felt completely sore—truly, every part of her body ached. She had no strength left, yet somehow, she felt relaxed and refreshed. Her mind could no longer think, and her body was so exhausted that she drifted off in a warm, broad embrace without even noticing the “+999” points notification.
After she fell asleep, her consciousness became clear again. But it felt like her consciousness alone, without a physical form, floating around without any particular destination. She drifted and drifted until she found herself back at a familiar mansion, a familiar staircase, a familiar bedroom—and even a familiar bed with a familiar person lying on it.
Oh, it was herself, fast asleep. She checked the time; it was 4 a.m. on the day she’d transmigrated. The system hadn’t lied—time indeed moved much slower here than in the other world.
She looked at her sleeping, twenty-six-year-old self. Perhaps because she’d never faced hardship, she was just as beautiful as she had been at twenty. Smiling to herself, she continued to drift around.
Next, she wanted to see her father. Floating up to the third floor, she found the master bedroom dark, but a light shone from the study. She frowned. That stubborn old man—why was he still working at this hour? She’d told him many times to rest earlier, but he never listened. She made a mental note to complain about it when she got back.
Floating into the study, she saw an elegant man who bore a resemblance to her, although he had a few wrinkles around his eyes and some gray in his hair. Still, he was a dashing gentleman. Lin Luo thought that even when Ji Chi’an got old, he wouldn’t be as handsome as her dad. Her father was the world’s handsomest man, her younger brother the second, and Ji Chi’an only third.
She watched as her father flipped through documents, holding a pen to make notes as he frowned slightly. Reaching for his coffee cup, he realized it was empty, sighed, and set it down, rubbing his forehead in fatigue.
Lin Luo wanted to make him a fresh cup of coffee, but she was powerless to do so. Feeling a pang of heartache, she watched him.
Then, her father picked up a framed photograph from the desk, smiling as he gently traced the photo with his finger. The picture showed her and her brother, each hugging one side of him, all smiling happily.
His fingers lingered on her face, and he sighed softly. “My girl, when will you find someone who’ll take good care of you? I’m getting old and would like to rest. But if I do, what will you do?”
His voice was filled with both joy and longing, and Lin Luo felt a pang in her heart. She wished she could tell him that she had found someone—a wonderful, caring person who would love and protect her so that he could finally rest easy. He could pass on the responsibility of looking after her to her husband.
But, of course, there was no Ji Chi’an in this world. Never mind—she’d work hard to become someone who could take care of her father, allowing him to finally rest, just as he deserved.
Lin Luo floated over and gave her father a big, warm hug, even if it was only pretend.
She stayed with him until around 6 a.m., when he finally went to bed. Only then did she float away, heading to check if her little brother, Lin Qi, had woken up yet. He was about to take his college entrance exams, and he couldn’t afford to slack off.
Just as she left the study, she saw Lin Qi munching on toast as he dashed out the door, hopping onto the mountain bike she had given him. She hurried to follow. When she saw him arrive at the school entrance, she finally understood—oh, so he was in a rush to bring breakfast to his little girlfriend.
She watched her pampered little brother, clutching the bread and milk, pacing nervously outside the school gate until a cute girl with a ponytail appeared. Then he pretended to “bump into her,” handed her breakfast with a blushing face, and quickly ran off, leaving her looking puzzled.
Lin Luo sighed inwardly. This kid should really learn a thing or two from her husband on how to pursue a girl. Then again, they were young, and there was plenty of time for him to improve.
Also, why was he still keeping her picture on his keychain? He should replace it with his girlfriend’s photo.
Lin Luo thought, luckily ghosts couldn’t cry—otherwise, she’d surely be tearing up.
She missed her father and brother terribly, but at least they were still happy and unaware of her absence. Just a few more days, and she could go back home.
At that thought, she suddenly remembered that she’d been here for several hours already. Was her other self still with Ji Chi’an? Had months gone by over there? Was she in a coma now? Was Ji Chi’an missing her terribly?
Oh no! She needed to get back to Ji Chi’an as soon as possible! But how could she return? Panicking, Lin Luo suddenly started to float upward.
This time, her floating was out of her control. She drifted higher and higher, until she was lost in a boundless darkness, seeming to float endlessly into the void.
🍵 Tea Break with Kliraz: Ghostly Visits & Family Feels 🍵
Lin Luo’s worry over her father’s late nights at work taps into the Chinese value of filial piety (孝顺 xiàoshùn), where taking care of one’s parents is a deeply held duty. ( ◜‿◝ )♡
Did you know? In Chinese culture, ghosts like Lin Luo here are often thought to visit loved ones in dreams to check on them. Her “visit” is like her way of saying, “I’m still here, don’t worry.” ✧(^-^)✧
Lin Luo’s “out-of-body” dream brings her real feelings to light: her deep love and the guilt she carries for leaving her family. This shows a classic attachment style, where separation from loved ones brings both comfort and worry.
“999” points that couldn’t wake her? Well, that’s her dedication to Ji Chi’an! And in Chinese, 999 is a lucky number representing eternal love. Guess she’s committed both spiritually and literally! 💞
If you had one night to “visit” anyone, who would it be? Let’s share the love in the comments! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
