The note continued:

Fifth, I was thinking about buying an island. Would you prefer one near the Arctic Circle where you can see the Northern Lights, or one closer to the equator with sunshine and sandy beaches?
Also, I heard Paris is auctioning a pair of ten-carat pigeon’s blood diamonds. How would they do as wedding rings? Or perhaps you’d prefer the new model of Gulfstream jet? Or maybe that old castle near your alma mater suits your fancy?
Sixth, it’s been an hour since I last saw you, and I miss you.

Signed,
A man deeply repentant and even more deeply in love with you.

Lin Luo: ……

Ji Chi’an’s entire persona had completely crumbled! Where did her mature, dominant, safe and stable CEO go? And who was this goofy, lovesick guy?

But, well… which island would she prefer—the one with the Northern Lights or the sunny beach? Wait, what was she thinking? Was she the kind of woman who could be bought off by money?

Lin Luo slapped the note down on the table. She searched for a pen but couldn’t find one, so she grabbed her eyeliner and scribbled her reply on the same page before shoving it back under the door.

Standing outside, Ji Chi’an saw the paper slide back, now with fresh marks. His heart leapt as he snatched it up, but his smile quickly faded.

Items one through four: approved. Item five: only a child would pick one—I’ll take everything, thank you very much. Item six: I meant it when I said you’re not allowed within twenty meters of me for the next two weeks, so don’t miss me too much, President Ji.
Let’s talk again at the wrap party.

Signed,
An angel who accepts your apology but has no plans to forgive you yet, and who also loves you deeply.

Ji Chi’an folded the note carefully and tucked it into his pocket. He pulled out his phone and opened his chat with Lu Shaoxing.

[Ji]: You’re useless.
[Lu ‘Not the Brightest’]: ???
[Ji]: Completely useless.
[Lu ‘Not the Brightest’]: No way. No woman can resist sweet words and promises of islands and jewels!
[Ji]: Oh, she didn’t resist. She took everything.
[Lu ‘Not the Brightest’]: Then what’s the problem?
[Ji]: There is no “then.”

Lu Shaoxing had always thought Ji Chi’an was the one with the devious streak, but it turned out his fiancée was even more ruthless—taking all the perks without giving an inch.

[Lu ‘Not the Brightest’]: Are you actually buying her all that? Just the ring you mentioned would set you back over ten million. If you go through with everything, it’ll be at least a billion yuan. Are you made of money?
[Ji]: Yes, I am.
[Lu ‘Not the Brightest’]: Sure, sure, moneybags. But seriously, doesn’t this princess of yours realize that even with inherited property, she’d have to take on her parents’ debts if the land goes up for auction? How does she not get that? Doesn’t she think it through?
[Ji]: Not your concern.
[Lu ‘Not the Brightest’]: Yeah, yeah, not my concern. But am I the only one who’s been with you all these years? Just one friend pouring his heart out for you, and you’re throwing money at this girl like it’s water. She’s hot and kind, sure, but is it worth it? There are plenty of other women who won’t cost a fortune, you know? It’s been what, six months? Is she that captivating? She put a spell on you or something? Be real, man. You’re blowing off work just to see her, and she’s barely giving you the time of day. Doesn’t that feel a little…wrong?

[Ji]: My fiancée is none of your business.

Ji Chi’an closed his phone and leaned against the hotel hallway wall, reaching for a cigarette before remembering he’d quit. Lu Shaoxing’s speech, however well-meaning, irritated him.

Ji Chi’an knew Lu Shaoxing meant well. In fact, of everyone involved in his relationship with Lin Luo, Lu Shaoxing was the only one looking out for his best interests. But no matter how much sense Lu Shaoxing’s words made, Ji Chi’an couldn’t stand to hear Lin Luo criticized. It infuriated him.

His feelings for Lin Luo were his choice. Even when he thought she didn’t like him, he still liked her. He had willingly made the first move, employing all manner of schemes to pull her closer. Lin Luo had never demanded anything from him; he’d given it freely. So how could he blame her? And the mind-reading? He’d brought that on himself. Lin Luo had every right to be mad, and he was perfectly happy to appease her. It was nobody else’s business.

Lu Shaoxing just didn’t understand. He couldn’t see Lin Luo’s virtues, nor could he grasp that Ji Chi’an’s efforts weren’t just about making her happy; they were about making himself happy. People are naturally drawn to what brings them joy, and Lin Luo just happened to be his weakness, his treasure.

If he had to find a reason, well, maybe he simply owed her.

And anyway, Lu Shaoxing’s playboy advice was absolutely useless. Ji Chi’an would have to handle this on his own.

Straightening his collar, he made a call. “Jiang Chen, pack up. Book a flight.”

🎩 Kliraz Corner: Ji Chi’an’s Billionaire Apology Extravaganza (ノ*゜▽゜*)ノ💎

Ji Chi’an’s over-the-top apology note reflects the Chinese cultural value of showing sincerity through grand gestures, especially among high-status characters in fiction, where opulence becomes an apology. Just ask any romance lead—they have to go big, right? (≧∇≦)

Ten-carat “pigeon’s blood” rubies, like the ones Ji considers for Lin Luo, are some of the rarest in the world, originating from Burma and considered so valuable they are usually kept for royalty. And here’s Ji offering them like a casual weekend gift. This man really raises the bar! (✧≖ ͜ʖ≖)

Lin Luo’s shift from humor to frustration reflects a real psychological principle—cognitive dissonance. She’s both impressed by Ji’s commitment and annoyed by his persistence, creating a funny tension. She loves him, but even a billionaire apology has its limits!
