Since this film was meant for wide release with no restrictive rating, they’d be keeping it mostly tame; anything too steamy would end with a symbolic shot. Ji Chi’an wasn’t particularly worried about anything going too far on set.

But… the scene where the male lead “picks her up, throws her onto the bed, and tears her clothes”? Ji Chi’an himself had yet to do any of that with Lin Luo.

Sitting on the couch, he raised an eyebrow, watching Lin Luo with a gaze full of interest.

Lin Luo shivered, slowly turning back around to let the makeup artist continue. Why did she feel like she was sneaking around on her husband right in front of him? This guilty feeling was too much.

She wasn’t the only nervous one; Chen Ping, her co-star, was even more anxious. Before filming, he’d downed a couple of shots of baijiu to steady himself, but his gaze kept sneaking over to the monitor area where Ji Chi’an sat watching calmly.

Ji Chi’an wasn’t just here for a personal visit—he was the investor, here to oversee the production. Who could say anything about it? Who would dare?

But Chen Ping was a professional. The moment the cameras rolled, he got right into character. Dressed in a sharp military uniform, with his collar disheveled and an intense, slightly tipsy gaze, he looked down at Lin Luo with a menacing allure.

Lin Luo, dressed in a qipao, sat on the sofa with one leg crossed over the other. The slit in her dress revealed her long, pale thigh against the rich red fabric, adding a provocative touch. She held a cigarette, taking a long drag before exhaling slowly. She looked up at Chen Ping with a sultry smile, her voice sweet and coy. “What brings you to my room at this hour, Commander?”

Chen Ping’s gaze was cold, his voice raspy. “You promised you’d be mine.”

“Ha.” Lin Luo laughed softly. “People like us follow whoever treats us best. You’ve been missing for days, and the General’s been treating me quite well. So some promises no longer count.”

“My promises always count.” Chen Ping strode over, snatched the cigarette from her hand, and tossed it aside. Then he scooped her up, threw her onto the bed, and climbed over her, ripping her qipao with a swift “rrrrip.”

“Cut! Perfect.”

Perhaps it was the pressure of Ji Chi’an’s death-stare, but both Lin Luo and Chen Ping had delivered flawless performances in one take.

As soon as they exhaled in relief, the director called out, “Hold that position! Camera 2, cut to a medium shot. Camera 3, go in close. Camera 1, follow up with a close-up. Chen Ping, press in closer; Lin Luo, show a bit more alarm. Chen Ping, rough it up a little. Don’t hold back; you love and hate her at once, so don’t be gentle. Yes, perfect! Keep that intensity, move a little more, make it feel tense and passionate. Great—let’s get two more takes.”

“–10 points.”

“–20 points.”

“–30 points.”

…

Lin Luo forced herself to ignore the points steadily dropping in her mind, focusing on staying professional and embodying her seductive character. Her eyes sparkled with allure, her lips parted slightly, and her hands trailed teasingly over Chen Ping’s uniform. The close-ups captured every detail, including the expanse of pale skin at her neck, all conveying her character’s seductive charm.

The crew, all seasoned professionals, showed no reaction. To them, it was like watching any other scene—they were focused on lighting, angles, and capturing the most aesthetic shot.

Only Ji Chi’an, seated behind the monitor, watched the screen with a faint, unreadable smile.

Interesting. Normally, just a little kiss makes her so shy she can hardly stand it. And yet, here she is, putting on quite the show in front of everyone.

After an hour, the scene finally wrapped, and Lin Luo’s filming for the day was done. She quickly adjusted her clothes, grabbed a silk scarf, and hurried over to Ji Chi’an, giving him an innocent, slightly pitiful look.

Sure, he looked calm, with that soft smile of his, appearing like a supportive and understanding partner. But he’d just docked her a full 100 points! Just because she needed those point reductions didn’t mean she actually wanted him to be upset!

The fact that he was smiling so warmly after deducting 100 points… it was practically a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Ji Chi’an stood up, smiling. “You did well today.”

He turned to the crew, nodding. “Thank you all for your hard work. I’ve arranged for some cold drinks to be delivered soon to help everyone cool off.”

“Thank you, President Ji!” The crew let out a collective sigh of relief. This meant the boss was satisfied with the production. Satisfaction meant the funds would keep flowing.

“You’re welcome.” Ji Chi’an slipped an arm around Lin Luo’s waist. “Thank you for taking such good care of Lin Luo. I hope the rest of filming goes smoothly. Best of luck to you all.”

✨ Kliraz’s Spicy Set Secrets (≖ᴗ≖)✧

Chen Ping’s baijiu (白酒) moment isn’t just a random pick-me-up—this fiery liquor has legendary status in China for breaking tension. After all, with Ji Chi’an’s gaze, who wouldn’t need a courage boost? ヾ(≧▽≦*)o

In classic Chinese cinema, “symbolic” scenes (意象镜头) hint at romance without being direct—letting the audience “fill in the gaps.” Clever and subtle, it bypasses strict content ratings while keeping the drama alive.

Ji Chi’an’s calm smile and small point deduction? It’s his way of reminding Lin Luo who’s boss, keeping a low-key power dynamic in play. Possessive, yes, but also charmingly strategic!
