After Transmigrating, I Died of Depression Without My Phone - Chapter 88.1
The monster realm was under siege by the monsters, caught in the midst of its greatest crisis, and yet the Monster Queen had chosen this moment to leave.
No one would have guessed it. Long Xiang certainly hadn’t.
So when Bai Qingyin captured her, Long Xiang was utterly stunned.
The entire Northern Court Royal City was empty—aside from Long Xiang and Beiting Xue, there wasn’t a single living soul. Everyone else had been driven out.
It wasn’t surprising that the wandering souls and barriers couldn’t keep Bai Qingyin out. After all, she shared a lineage with Beiting Xue, and her cultivation level was far higher. Breaking through his barriers wasn’t difficult, and the wandering souls weren’t worth mentioning. But to do it all so quietly—that was a bit unsettling.
“Are you scared now?”
Bai Qingyin leaned over, observing Long Xiang closely, taking in her appearance with increasing interest.
The more she looked, the more she liked what she saw.
But unfortunately, this was the girl who wanted to take over her world. There was no helping it—she had to die.
“I’ve come to kill you. You should have prepared yourself for that. But don’t worry, it’s not time for that yet.”
Long Xiang sat on a meditation cushion, and oddly enough, her movements weren’t restricted.
She wasn’t tied up. She was free to move around the grand hall as she pleased, and Bai Qingyin sat on a cushion beside her. They were currently in the Soul Lantern Hall, where the spirits of past Northern Court kings resided.
Since Long Xiang had opened this entrance, no one had come to repair it.
Beiting Xue had no interest in the king’s throne, nor did he care about the palace chambers. In fact, he would have been happier if Long Xiang had completely destroyed the place.
After the prison was wrecked, he told the royal family not to bother repairing anything. Some places held bad memories and were better off gone.
As for how Long Xiang had been captured, it was a bit of a complicated story.
The wedding night had been beautiful and exhausting. Long Xiang had fallen into a deep sleep, and when she woke up, she was next to Bai Qingyin.
She had no idea how Beiting Xue was doing.
After all, they had been in bed, completely unclothed. And now, here she was, fully dressed.
Surely…
Long Xiang glanced at Bai Qingyin, who nodded and said, “I dressed you.”
Long Xiang: “…”
“Don’t worry, I didn’t look at your husband. Not even a glance.”
That wasn’t what she was concerned about!
“Even if he’s my son, once a child is grown, a mother shouldn’t look casually. I’m aware of that.”
Bai Qingyin’s tone was gentle, as if she were simply chatting, completely relaxed, as though they were old friends having a conversation rather than enemies.
If they had tea, it would have been an even more casual scene.
Long Xiang’s expression was difficult to describe. Bai Qingyin glanced at her and said, “Are you wondering how Xiao Xue is doing?”
Seeing Long Xiang’s eyes light up instantly, Bai Qingyin smiled faintly. “You really do love him, don’t you? I can understand. He’s quite handsome. His father was a complete failure, but he did have a good face. It’s the only reason I could tolerate him on all those nights when I wanted to kill him.”
“Don’t worry.” The Monster Queen rose and walked over to Beiting Changyuan’s memorial tablet. After a long moment of silence, she finally spoke. “Xiao Xue is fine. Until he atones for the mistakes he’s made, I won’t let him die so easily.”
Bai Qingyin picked up Beiting Changyuan’s memorial tablet, her fingers tracing the carved name with an almost careless demeanor. “All he ever thought about was pleasing you, dragging the monster realm into such chaos. He truly never considered me. So reckless… he certainly doesn’t take after me, but after his father.”
Long Xiang stood up cautiously, asking, “What do you want him to do?”
“What else?” Bai Qingyin glanced at her. “He led the monsters to the monster realm and caused all that destruction just to make things difficult for me. So, I won’t bother with that place anymore.”
“Won’t bother?” Long Xiang frowned.
“I find the human realm much more appealing.”
With a light flick of her hand, Bai Qingyin reduced Beiting Changyuan’s memorial tablet to dust.
She dusted off the wood fragments from her hands and took a slow stroll around the grand hall.
“The monster realm is small and lacks beauty. After all these years, I’ve long wanted a change of scenery. Now’s the perfect time.”
Her gaze swept over Long Xiang. “Xiao Xue will find us soon. When he does, I’ll have him hand over the Imperial Seal and destroy the monsters in the monster realm. The power of a Dragon God’s self-destruction, sealed within one realm, will be enough to wipe out most of them.”
“There are ten monsters, far too many for me to handle alone. But if he can destroy even a few with his death, the rest I’ll take care of myself.”
By then, with no monsters left for the Demon Lord to control, he would be easy to deal with.
The throne of the world would finally belong to her.
In a pleasant mood, Bai Qingyin smiled generously. “Curious how I broke through all the barriers and grabbed you without anyone noticing?”
Her smile was enchanting. Beiting Xue hadn’t inherited much from his father, but his features—especially those jet-black eyes and the eerie, sinister aura when he smiled—were identical to his mother’s. However, as a woman, Bai Qingyin had a touch more delicate beauty in her expression.
“After all, this is a place I lived for many years.”
There was a hint of sentiment in Bai Qingyin’s voice, though her gaze held more loathing and disgust than nostalgia.
“When I left, I thought I’d never return. But I’m the type to always leave myself a way out. In case of trouble, you know? So, I set up a teleportation array here. And today, I finally had a use for it.”
Her tone turned playful. “You two had quite the bridal chamber celebration. You wore Xiao Xue out completely. When I entered, he was still sound asleep.”
“…” Long Xiang smiled faintly.
It seemed she was partly to blame.
“But he’s surely looking for us now. We’ve chatted long enough, and I expect we’ll see him soon.”
Bai Qingyin returned to her meditation cushion, gesturing for Long Xiang to sit as well. “Go on, sit down and wait. We’ll be here a while. Once everything is done and Xiao Xue is dead, I’ll send you both to the underworld together.”
“Until then, if there’s anything you want to do or anything you’d like to know, feel free to ask.”
Her assured demeanor made it clear that she saw Long Xiang as nothing more than a dead woman walking. Yet, this condescension didn’t anger Long Xiang.
She had become quite comfortable in Bai Qingyin’s presence, and it wasn’t hard to guess why the Monster Queen was so certain of herself.
It all came down to Beiting Xue’s feelings for her.
Because he loved her, Bai Qingyin believed that as long as she held Long Xiang captive, she could make him do anything.
Long Xiang found it amusing. “You’re being so straightforward, telling me you plan to send me and him to the underworld. Do you really think he’ll listen to you?”
“If Beiting Xue knows that, after everything, he’ll just end up dying with me, do you think he’s foolish enough to go along with it?”
Bai Qingyin replied without hesitation, “He will.”
Long Xiang fell silent.
Bai Qingyin continued, “If he refuses, I’ll torture you to death—just like he did to his own father and Changqin Yin.”
Long Xiang’s eyes widened.
“Wouldn’t it be better to die peacefully than to meet a cruel fate and have your soul shattered?”
