After Transmigrating, I Died of Depression Without My Phone - Chapter 100.2
Instead, he brought her to the vortex, and Long Xiang immediately became alert.
“Are you sending me back?”
She had arrived unexpectedly, but since the vortex was still there, it meant she could return.
Her reluctance was clear in her voice. A gentle, almost innocent smile spread across Beiting Xue’s pure, saint-like face.
“You have to go home eventually.”
…She did need to go home.
But she at least wanted to talk to him for a little while longer.
They hadn’t even had time to catch up.
Tears welled up in Long Xiang’s eyes. She opened her mouth to speak but hesitated, her hand clutching tightly at his sleeve, unwilling to let go.
As her tears fell, the sky suddenly rumbled with thunder and rain began to pour. Surprised, she froze, and then heard Beiting Xue speak again.
“If you want, you can take me with you now.”
What?
Long Xiang’s eyes widened in shock, the sound of thunder ringing in her ears.
“You can come with me?” Her excitement was palpable.
A problem she had thought unsolvable now had a perfect solution, and she could hardly believe what she was hearing.
The vortex was right there. When she stopped crying, the rain stopped too.
The sudden thunderstorm made her wonder if it had been linked to her emotions.
“Is it true?” she whispered, unsure but hopeful.
Beiting Xue was far more anxious than she was, though he hid it well, keeping his expression calm to ease her anxiety.
He restrained the turmoil in his heart, explaining steadily, “You’ve given new life to this world. The remnants of the old Heavenly Dao have completely disappeared, and the world has chosen a new master to grant it vitality.”
Long Xiang had an inkling of what he meant but still found it hard to believe.
“So, you’re saying—”
Beiting Xue spoke clearly, each word unwavering, leaving no room for doubt: “You are now the new Heavenly Dao of this world.”
“The vortex that brought you here connects both worlds. From now on, you can travel between them as you wish, and you can take anyone from this world with you.”
His impossibly handsome face was now devoid of a smile, replaced with a solemn yet hopeful expression, tinged with nervousness.
“Even me.”
His red lips parted slightly as he spoke two hushed words, the last of which held an infinite uncertainty.
She had been gone for some time. Human emotions were so fickle—what if she had already fallen for someone else?
He knew nothing of her world, had only glimpsed fragments of it through prophecy. Did she truly want to bring him into it?
Had she changed her mind?
Could he really adapt to her world without becoming a burden to her?
Countless uncertainties flooded Beiting Xue’s heart. He felt even more like a leaf tossed in the wind than Long Xiang, helpless and utterly lost in his thoughts.
But all of his doubts and worries vanished in the wake of Long Xiang’s wild laughter.
“What’s going on!” she exclaimed excitedly. “I’ve become the new Heavenly Dao? This world is mine now?”
Beiting Xue: “…”
The woman who had been utterly exhausted moments ago was suddenly full of energy. “Help me up!” she demanded. “Let me look at my kingdom!”
Beiting Xue was silent.
Gone was any trace of melancholy in Beiting Xue.
He quickly helped Long Xiang stand, and together they gazed out at the bright, radiant world beneath the new sun.
The eternal night had lifted, and daylight had returned. The people poured into the streets, kneeling under the gentle spring rain that fell from the sky.
They bathed in the rain of sunlight, their cheers even more exuberant than Long Xiang’s laughter moments earlier.
As the crowd celebrated, Long Xiang gradually regained her composure. She looked at Beiting Xue, her eyes wide with realization. “So… I really am the new Heavenly Dao?”
Beiting Xue guided her, showing her how to stir the wind and clouds. Long Xiang, acting on instinct, found she could easily perceive the fates of all the worshippers kneeling below them.
And what about Beiting Xue?
He was a part of this world, too. If she was the Heavenly Dao, she should be able to see his future, right?
Long Xiang’s eyes grew tired after viewing so many destinies. She closed them briefly to recover and then turned her gaze toward Beiting Xue.
The moment she looked at him, she could feel his body tense up beside her.
Beiting Xue averted his eyes.
Long Xiang slowly asked, “What are you hiding from?”
She muttered quietly, almost to herself, “I suppose it makes sense. It’s only natural to fear the might of a Heavenly Goddess.”
The playful tone in her voice eased Beiting Xue’s tension. He looked into Long Xiang’s eyes, and she smiled knowingly, her lips curving into a pure and content expression. There was a newfound beauty and serenity in her face that hadn’t been there before—an undeniable glow of fulfillment.
Simply looking at her brought boundless joy and happiness.
The former Heavenly Dao had been filled with cold arrogance and an air of unapproachable authority, but Long Xiang was different.
She allowed people to look at her.
And anyone who did could see the most beautiful and comforting vision they desired on her radiant face.
Even Beiting Xue.
In a daze, he recalled a prophecy he had once made for Long Xiang.
He saw her at home on a summer day, casually chatting with her family, relaxed and comfortable as she ate fruit from her hand.
Back then, that’s where the vision had ended. There had been no trace of him in that prophecy.
But this time, it was different.
The scene shifted, and he heard Long Xiang say, “Mom, someone’s knocking. Is it Ah Xue coming back?”
He saw her put on her shoes and open the door. And the moment the door swung open, his eyes met those of the man standing behind it—himself.
…
Once, he had believed that prophecies were immutable, inescapable.
But now, though the prophecy hadn’t changed, the outcome had shifted completely.
It became clear that what prophecies showed wasn’t always the full picture of fate.
This time, fate had finally smiled upon him.
The vortex bloomed and then contracted as Long Xiang, holding her paintbrush, led Beiting Xue with her, disappearing into the vortex.
Golden light rained down from the sky, and as the storm passed, the earth stirred with new life. The land was bathed in the light of the new sun, and for the first time in ages, people could truly feel it—
The dawn had returned.
