In Saint Sea Manor, the glass greenhouse stretched dozens of meters long. Sunlight filtered through the glass and lush leaves, casting mottled shadows. It wasn’t as dazzling as shimmering waves of gold, but instead carried a delicate beauty, subtle and fragrant. The bouquets used to decorate the manor were usually cut fresh from here.

Xia Yuan held Yang Ying’s hand and sat quietly in a lush, fragrant corner. As long as they didn’t speak, no one would easily notice them.

“I want to start working out too lately!” Yang Ying’s eyes sparkled as soon as she mentioned the word fitness, her whole expression like someone hopelessly in love.

Xia Yuan grew more and more curious. The Yang family might not be as powerful as the Qin or Pei families, but they were still a top-tier household. As the Yang family’s eldest daughter, Yang Ying had seen all kinds of men.

Even if her upbringing was sheltered, with no messy admirers bothering her, she had grown up around Qin Mohuai, Pei Jinchen, and Yang Yi. Her standards should have been set sky-high—straight up to the Himalayas.

Could it be that Zhou Weiqi was even more handsome than those young masters from noble families?

She found that hard to believe.

Yang Ying said, “There’s a Clark Gym on the sub-top floor of KG Mall. I got a diamond membership card there, and they give discounts if you bring a new member. Not that you need to worry about money, but if you’re interested, I can take you for a trial session.”

In Xia Yuan’s heart, she sneered: Clark Gym? With two ‘克 (ke)’ characters in its name, doesn’t that already mean it’ll ‘克 (restrain)’ you?

“Sure, I’d love to try it tomorrow. I’ve just been eating and sleeping at home, and I’ve grown lazy. Qin Mohuai might be happy about it, but when I tried to put on denim shorts today, they almost didn’t fit. It was a bit of a blow.”

Her waist was still slim, barely a handful to grasp, but her pale, tender hips were clearly too well-fed.

Time to slim down the hips at the gym.

Once she lost the weight, maybe Qin Mohuai’s enthusiasm would die down.

Tsk.

She really was a genius in the most ordinary way.

But Xia Yuan didn’t realize that her huffing and puffing workouts would inadvertently give her a perfectly peach-shaped, perky figure, which would have the opposite effect in front of Qin Mohuai.

In the end, Qin Mohuai only managed to catch five people during the game. The manor was simply too vast—some even hid in the lake, surfacing now and then for air. How could he possibly find everyone?

After the punishment round ended, a bus drove out of Saint Sea Manor. Pei Jinchen and Yang Yi, however, didn’t leave until after dinner.

Qin Mohuai escorted them to the gate, but it was obvious he couldn’t wait to enjoy his private world with Xia Yuan.

Pei Jinchen, however, refused to cooperate. He stood at the gate, unwilling to leave.

“Saint Sea Manor has your wife, the Qin family’s old residence has your fiancée. In the end, who are you planning to marry?”

When his young master temper flared, Pei Jinchen was a master at making things difficult. His face was devilishly handsome, but his pettiness was just as striking.

In his mind, Xia Yuan had to be tricked by Qin Mohuai. Maybe Qin Mohuai had thrown mountains of gold and silver at her, and she reluctantly agreed to stay by his side!

Pei Jinchen was like a jar of pickled sour cabbage spirit—just looking at him made Yang Yi’s teeth ache.

“Of course I’ll marry Xia Yuan.” Qin Mohuai let out a faint snort, as if the question itself was ridiculous.

“Now get lost. If you keep nagging, I’ll dig out those two pieces of cake you stuffed down earlier.”

Pei Jinchen choked, cursed under his breath, and finally drove off in his Pagani Huayra, the roar of the engine trailing behind him.

Night draped its starry veil over Qin Mohuai. The light carved his profile into a dangerously perfect silhouette, tall and noble, his presence exuding an untouchable coldness.

He was like the deep sea glittering on the surface, but unfathomably dark beneath.

Xia Yuan walked up to him, her sweet voice soft and gentle. “You still have some cream from the cake on your lips.”

She lifted her pale, slender fingers and lightly brushed across his not-too-thin, not-too-thick, sensual lips.

Suddenly, Qin Mohuai curved his mouth into a smile.

He was thoroughly pleased.

“Honey, I’ve got a gift for you too.”

“Today’s my birthday. Why are you giving me a present?”

“Because you’re my treasure.”

The pink diamond was too big, and she was too lazy to wear it anyway. Qin Mohuai instead bought a pair of simple rings—something fit for daily wear.

Xia Yuan didn’t care what she wore. After all, she couldn’t take anything from this world with her. What she did wonder was—after she left, how would this dangerously obsessive male lead handle the loss of his wife?

Her soft heart betrayed her again. Under Qin Mohuai’s coaxing, she ended up in a bunny girl costume. All that fabric balled up together wouldn’t even be as big as her fist. She was speechless at the man’s twisted taste.

Xia Yuan’s mind wandered, her body stubbornly refusing to stir. Qin Mohuai’s eyes turned red from restraint. He pulled out a small black bottle, pressing it to her nose. This thing hadn’t she thrown it away? Why did he still have it? Just how many did he stockpile?

A faint mist, nearly scentless, disguised in perfume packaging yet it was pure poison.

Xia Yuan turned her face away, cursing him a pervert, clutching her pants to retreat to the guest room. But Qin Mohuai’s arm clamped around her waist, palm sealing her mouth, forcing her to inhale several deep breaths.

What came next quickly spun out of control.

On the surface Xia Yuan looked delicate, fragile, but she was a rose with thorns—temperamental, with her own sharp bottom line.

Qin Mohuai, high and mighty, hated being defied. Yet, perversely, he loved Xia Yuan’s temper. Being scolded by her secretly thrilled him. So he leaned to her ear, shameless as ever, and whispered, “Baby, you can’t protect it. I’ll ruin you completely.”

Yang Ying pulled up in a rose-pink Porsche 911 to pick Xia Yuan up.

Xia Yuan was still chatting with her advisor, Li Zhiyuan, about her thesis. He told her the paper was basically fine, then reminded her of the dinner gathering in two days. Clearly, Professor Li had never been beaten down by society—he was way too enthusiastic about organizing social dinners.

Inside the car, Xia Yuan’s sweet, airy voice sounded weak as she begged Yang Ying to close the convertible roof. Her porcelain-white skin couldn’t take the blazing sun.

Yang Ying’s spirits lifted instantly. She shut the roof and couldn’t help but sigh, “No wonder Third Brother spoils you so much. Just hearing your voice is enough to break my defenses—let alone a man’s. If my voice were this sweet, I’d probably have no trouble finding love either.”

Xia Yuan’s curiosity about Zhou Weiqi deepened. What kind of charm did he have to make Yang Ying so hopelessly smitten?

KG Mall, at Clark’s Gym.

It was a weekday, office hours, so only five or six members were around.

“Xiao Ying, you brought a friend?”

Xia Yuan looked over. That should be Zhou Weiqi.

He deliberately spoke in a deep, resonant voice. Black tank top, muscles taut on his shoulders. Not exactly handsome more like properly decent but his grin was sunny, his demeanor earnest.

Like a golden retriever who’d been working out.

If Yang Ying had never flirted with a man before, she really wouldn’t be able to withstand someone pretending to be a bright, wholesome golden boy. After all, who doesn’t like golden retrievers? Even if they’re packed with muscle…

Yang Ying’s cheeks turned pink. “Coach Zhou, my friend wants to try out the gym. If she’s satisfied, she might sign up.”

Zhou Weiqi laughed heartily. “That’s great. We’ve got female trainers here.”

He called out to a girl named Hedy, telling her to show Xia Yuan around.

Xia Yuan glanced at him with hidden meaning. She didn’t believe for a second that a man who would one day abandon his wife and child to cheat could possibly be a good man before marriage.

Zhou Weiqi frowned slightly, then leaned close to Yang Ying’s ear, swearing loyalty, “Is your friend single? She just gave me a flirty look.”

He thrived on the thrill of being fought over by women. To his surprise, he didn’t even need to stir the pot this time—the plastic sisterhood was already cracking on its own.

But Yang Ying didn’t bite. Instead, she snapped at her crush without hesitation: “Are you out of your mind?”
