Qin Mohuai was in his study, throwing a fit.

The phone was on speaker mode, placed on the deep, elegant rosewood desk.

Old Master Qin’s voice was stern without effort, carrying a natural authority:
“You’re throwing a tantrum with me over a woman?”

Qin Mohuai sneered. “It was you who shoved Ouyang Jing in my face first.”

“Insolence!” the old man barked.

Qin Mohuai’s dark eyes were cold and domineering, his presence sharp and untamed, like a hawk with fully grown wings unwilling to be shackled any longer.

He fished out a cigarette, but remembering he’d be holding his wife later in bed, he lazily bit it between his teeth without lighting it.

“Grandfather, when I went to Country M this time, I had the frozen sperm taken out and destroyed. If you push me again, I’ll just get a vasectomy.”

“You—!”

The old man nearly choked with fury.

That lawless brat!

But then, Old Master Qin suddenly softened, sighing.
“Why do you think I press you so hard about having a child? It’s because of your Ninth Uncle. He was just like you back then, completely bewitched by a woman. But that woman disappeared, and he was ruined—neither man nor ghost, and left without a single child.”

Qin Mohuai replied coldly, “I won’t end up as pathetic as him.”

There was a pause. Then Old Master Qin said,
“Tomorrow is your 28th birthday. It may not be a milestone, but we’ll still host a grand banquet.”

Qin Mohuai’s tone was indifferent.
“You all go enjoy your fun. I don’t have time to come back.”

With that, he hung up.

In the master bedroom, Xia Yuan was sound asleep on the bed. Next to her was a man’s black suit jacket, as if in his absence she’d taken it to keep herself company.

The sight warmed Qin Mohuai’s heart. He pulled out his phone, snapped a picture, and posted it to his Moments.

[My wife. Love me, love all that’s mine.]

Yang Yi replied: “What’s with this late-night show-off?”

Pei Jinchen also replied: “What’s with this late-night show-off?”

The rest, too afraid to provoke Qin Mohuai, could only give silent likes. Within minutes, the post had racked up 183 likes.

In their private group chat, Yang Yi tagged him:
“How are you celebrating your birthday tomorrow?”

Qin Mohuai typed back:
“No banquet. Spending it with my wife.”

Pei Jinchen: “Seriously? That picture was probably AI generated. You just wanted to show off your suit jacket, right?”

The sourness practically spilled off the screen.

Qin Mohuai: “Come over tomorrow.”

Pei Jinchen: “What, are you mad now? What if you assassinate me? Forget it, I’m not going.”

Yang Yi: “Don’t chicken out, I’ll go with you! You’ll believe it when you see Xia Yuan. I didn’t believe it at first either—what decent little girl would like an old beast? Guess he just struck gold with dogsht luck.”*

Qin Mohuai chuckled angrily at that.

Xia Yuan, sleeping lightly, stirred at the sound. She opened her eyes, her voice soft and drowsy.
“Hubby…”

Qin Mohuai tugged off the suit jacket and lay down beside her.

“Baby, do you know what tomorrow is?”

“What day?” Xia Yuan feigned ignorance, her clear misty eyes pretending not to know.

“…” Qin Mohuai bit her cheek in mock anger, scolding,
“Heartless little thing.”

But Xia Yuan ignored him, shut her eyes, and drifted back into deep sleep.

Since she planned to give him a surprise—to rack up some affection points—she naturally couldn’t reveal it now.

The next morning.

Xia Yuan woke up early. Dressed in denim shorts and a sleeveless top, she stood outside washing a car.

The white Mini Maybach had been left out for over a week, coated with dust. Today, in a particularly good mood, she decided to wash it herself.

Housekeeper Wang originally wanted to send two people to help her wash the car. After all, how could a pampered young lady like Miss Xia possibly know how to wash a car? But to his surprise, she washed with such skill and precision that it looked professional.

Even those who regularly washed cars at home couldn’t match her efficiency and attention to detail. It was almost as if Miss Xia had worked in a car wash before.

Wrapped in a black bathrobe, Qin Mohuai stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, watching Xia Yuan at work.

His long, lazy phoenix eyes narrowed, a faint gleam of suspicion flickering within.

His darling could carry trays—fine, that could be explained away by her time at Liang Min’s little restaurant. But washing a car this thoroughly and competently? How was he supposed to explain that?

Back on the day they first clashed at Xiangzhou Chinese University, Qin Mohuai had already dug into Xia Yuan and the entire Xia family’s background. The report never mentioned she could wash cars.

Qin Mohuai let out a soft, mocking snort, his strikingly sinister yet beautiful face curling into a smile that made one’s heart race uneasily. His little treasure was becoming more and more interesting.

Xia Yuan, however, had no idea. Because she was washing the car so seriously, a certain paranoid madman had already caught onto something unusual.

Carrying a cup of coffee, Qin Mohuai stepped outside, continuing to watch her.

Xia Yuan’s eyes were filled with nothing but the mini Maybach. Even when her clothes were soaked through, she didn’t care. Qin Mohuai’s gaze darkened as he grabbed her hand, pulling her indoors.

The wet white camisole clung tightly to her skin, outlining her figure vividly, even exposing the color of her underwear. No wonder Qin Mohuai’s face turned stormy.

“Let go! That car’s not clean yet!” Xia Yuan protested, struggling, her wrist twisting. One of her sandals slipped off, leaving her pale, delicate foot smacking against the floor.

Without another word, Qin Mohuai pinned her against the wall, towering over her with a dangerous threat.
“If you dare wash a car like that again, I’ll pin you down inside it until nightfall—until you never want to touch that Maybach for the rest of your life.”

Xia Yuan’s fair little face was full of displeasure, her rosy lips puffed up in a pout.

“Tyrant!”

“I am a tyrant.” Qin Mohuai’s dangerously beautiful face curved with a wicked smile. Snatching off the Patek Philippe watch she wore every day, he spat out through clenched teeth, “What little bitch keeps fighting me for your attention every day?”

Xia Yuan was speechless.

Wait.

…Was he jealous of her watch?

Was he insane?!

Just then, Housekeeper Wang hurried over. “Young Master Yang and Young Master Pei’s car broke down halfway. They’re asking you to pick them up.”

“Useless,” Qin Mohuai cursed darkly.

Once he left, Xia Yuan changed her clothes and went into the kitchen to bake a cake.

A basic birthday cake could be done in two hours. Having learned from the head chef at the French restaurant she’d worked at for a few days, making something simple posed no difficulty at all.

Housekeeper Wang stood to the side recording a video.

If young master threw another random tantrum in the future, perhaps showing him this footage would cheer him up a little.

What he didn’t know was that, in the three years after losing Xia Yuan, Qin Mohuai would replay this video over and over, drinking poison to quench his thirst. What was sweet now would later become a poisoned blade, stabbing him mercilessly.

“Miss, what are you preparing?” Housekeeper Wang asked.

Glancing at the camera, Xia Yuan smiled sweetly. “I’m making a cake for Brother Mohuai. He usually eats grapes, so I’m preparing a green grape cake! He’s strict with sugar because of fitness, but today is special—he can indulge. I’m going to put in a lot of sugar, so it’ll be sweet right into his heart~”

Housekeeper Wang pretended to look surprised. “So Miss not only washes cars, but can also bake cakes?”

“I can’t, really. Didn’t I work at the French restaurant recently? The head chef there is amazing at desserts, so I learned a little from him. Maybe I inherited my mom’s cooking talent, because in just a few days, I already picked it up! But I haven’t decided what words to write on the cake. Do you think something like ‘Peace and health forever’ is too cheesy?”

Meanwhile, Qin Mohuai drove his Cullinan to pick up his friends, only to find that Yang Yi and Pei Jincheng had shown up driving… a bus. And inside were rows upon rows of familiar faces.

“…” Qin Mohuai was speechless. What the hell were they up to?

Yang Yi gave an awkward laugh. “Blame Pei Jincheng, he couldn’t keep his mouth shut!”

Pei Jincheng looked just as embarrassed. He’d originally wanted to rent a coach bus at least, something with a bit of class. But there were too many people, and the coach they found didn’t fit. Sports cars were everywhere, but buses were harder to come by. Even Young Master Pei had been left speechless.

Qin Mohuai propped one elegant pale hand against his waist, face darkening. He really needed to reconsider his choice of friends. “So your car never broke down at all, did it?”

Pei Jincheng gave a cold, fearless laugh, even pulling out a party popper with malicious glee.
“All’s fair in war! I learned this trick from you! Let us into the Shenghai Manor, or I’ll blow this thing inside the bus and celebrate your birthday right here!”
