After Marrying the Heirless Crown Prince, I Gave Birth to Three Children - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Begging Your Highness for Pity
Xie Yao’s eyes quickly turned red, looking pitiful and helpless as she gazed at the Crown Prince. “Your Highness… do you not want me?”
A husband could be dispensable, but the position of Crown Princess must be secured!
In her previous life, the Crown Prince had died young. If she wanted to succeed in taking revenge on Song Wenbo and that woman… if she could not keep the Crown Prince alive, then she must at least give birth to a child as soon as possible.
The flickering candlelight fell across her, making her appear even more beautiful. Her eyes were slightly reddened, shimmering as if with crystal tears. Her long, curled lashes trembled gently. Her teeth lightly bit her lip, her chin tilted up ever so slightly…
She truly looked delicate and heartbreaking.
Xiao Ji was momentarily dazed, unable to help recalling what Momo Xu had told him through her people: “Yao-yao admires you greatly.”
So much so, he forgot that he had not yet finished speaking.
Xie Yao continued in a weak voice. “Your Highness…”
She boldly reached out to grab the hem of Xiao Ji’s robe. The faint fragrance on her body slipped into his nose, unavoidable.
It tickled a little.
“I beg Your Highness to pity me.” Her soft, seductive tone seemed to hook directly into him.
Xiao Ji stayed silent for a moment, fists tightening, then pulled his robe free from her grasp and continued the words he had left unsaid. “Since you have married me, you are the Crown Princess. Whatever happens, you need not be afraid.”
“But aside from that, do not harbor other thoughts.”
Momo Xu had said that Xie Yao was clever.
Having spoken, he turned to leave.
“Your Highness,” Xie Yao’s voice rang out again, “on our wedding night… will you not stay?”
Xiao Ji looked at Xie Yao, as though trying to see through her entire being. His brows furrowed. “Do you not understand what I mean?”
He despised stupidity.
Xie Yao hurriedly rose, as if frightened, kneeling on the ground. “I would never dare to covet Your Highness. It’s only that… people’s gossip is ruthless. I beg Your Highness to grant me some dignity.”
Xiao Ji lowered his gaze. All he saw was her slender, graceful neck, gleaming like rare white jade under the red of her wedding robe. Her body seemed to tremble faintly.
Was she… crying?
His legs felt as heavy as lead. In the end, he could not bring himself to step away.
Kneeling beneath him, Xie Yao’s lips curved ever so slightly.
Though Xiao Ji stayed, the two of them lay down fully clothed. He had no intention at all of consummating the marriage.
Xie Yao, though she had already borne a child in her last life, but she had only experienced that once, and it had been forced upon her; an utterly wretched memory.
Still…
Hugging the blanket, she looked at Xiao Ji lying beside her. Before sleep overtook her, only one thought lingered in her mind: Could it be that His Highness is… incapable?
…
At the Song household, in the bridal chamber.
Song Wenbo had gone to entertain guests, leaving Xie Yujiao alone in the wedding room. She glanced around, her eyes filled with open disdain.
What kind of shabby place was this?
This bridal chamber wasn’t even as big as her old study; let alone the Eastern Palace…
She criticized every corner of the room, and then glanced outside. At this hour, Song Wenbo still hadn’t returned?
At last, the sound of staggering, heavy footsteps came from outside.
As soon as the door opened, a servant was half-dragging a completely drunk Song Wenbo inside.
After much fuss, Song Wenbo collapsed on the bed like a dead pig, utterly unconscious.
Xie Yujiao nearly fainted from fury.
After washing up, she could not help but pat him a few times, calling, “Husband.”
No reaction at all.
She lay down fully dressed beside him, forcing herself to slowly close her eyes.
It didn’t matter. Her husband’s love… she would have it sooner or later. But as for Xie Yao, she would be left to spend her life alone in an empty bridal room!
Thinking thus, the exhausted Xie Yujiao soon fell asleep.
But just as she drifted off, Song Wenbo suddenly opened his eyes. He slipped out of bed, walked into the study on the other side of the chamber, moved the brush holder on the desk, and the bookshelf shifted, revealing a hidden passage.
From the bridal chamber came the sounds of low moans. The wedding bed creaked noisily.
And inside the room…
The drugged, unconscious Xie Yujiao had been cast aside on the floor.
…
Late at night, in the Crown Prince’s mansion, the chamber was quiet except for the sound of red candles burning. Xiao Ji opened his eyes.
There was someone pressed against him!
His new wife, Xie Yao.
Before sleeping, they had each pulled a blanket for themselves. But somehow, she had ended up inside his.
Her soft chest pressed against his arm. Her thigh seemed draped over his waist. Even through two layers of underclothes, he could feel the unearthly softness he had never experienced before.
And yet, Xie Yao’s breathing remained steady throughout.
She hadn’t done it on purpose, and only slept with poor posture.
Xiao Ji frowned, lowering his head to move her away. But at that angle, his ears burned red.
All he saw was endless white!
He quickly averted his gaze, but the image of that flawless whiteness lingered stubbornly.
Her sleeping posture… was far too reckless!
The two were pressed so close together that Xiao Ji dared not move carelessly. He reached for her blanket instead. But just as he shifted sideways, Xie Yao obligingly burrowed deeper into his arms.
One delicate hand pressed against his chest. The other slipped around his torso, resting on his back.
Her breath fanned across his throat.
She was… soft.
Soft and fragrant.
He had never been this close to anyone before.
Before his self-control could collapse entirely, Xiao Ji pulled the blanket over her and was just about to shove her aside, when her rosy lips parted slightly.
She murmured a single word: “Mother.”
Xiao Ji froze. Then, expressionless, he tossed Xie Yao to the other side.
Xie Yao slept soundly the whole night and woke very early.
Xiao Ji was still asleep.
Not wanting to disturb his rest, she did not rise either, but instead turned her head to boldly watch him.
Suddenly, Xiao Ji opened his eyes. He frowned, looked away, and reached past her back…
Could it be that the Crown Prince liked to start early in the morning?
As Xie Yao thought this, she suddenly felt a weight fall over her head and darkness enveloped her. Xiao Ji had pulled the blanket behind her and covered her entire body with it.
Even her head.
Xie Yao: “…”
By the time she pulled the blanket off, Xiao Ji was already up.
Xie Yao glanced down at herself, seeing her disheveled clothing. Her cheeks flushed hot as she quickly covered herself again. At the same time, doubt pricked at her.
In her previous life, during candlelit whispers, she had overheard that pair of dogs say: men all liked a women like her.
So it certainly wasn’t her problem.
And since Xie Yujiao had never had any good news either… looking at it now, perhaps the Crown Prince truly was incapable?
But it didn’t matter. She would never despise him. She would definitely find a way to cure him.
And then, as soon as possible, she would bear a child.
The Crown Prince rose. The maids outside filed in one by one. Zhuxin and Zhuqing attended to Xie Yao, addressing her now as Crown Princess.
Xiao Ji, however, did not allow anyone to attend him. After dressing, he instinctively looked back at Xie Yao.
Wearing only thin underclothes, she was washing with the help of her maids. The summer garments did nothing to conceal her lush figure.
The faint morning light streamed through the lattice window, gilding her whole form with a pale golden glow.
Her silhouette could faintly be seen.
Xiao Ji’s arm tingled slightly, as though still remembering last night’s touch.
And that flash of snowy white he had glimpsed seemed to linger, refusing to fade…
