- Chapter 6 - Aren't You Our Mommy?
After the brief yet memorable episode ended, Manager Zhang personally guided a shop assistant to attend to Ruan Meng and her children.
After Ruan Meng repeated her requests, Manager Zhang’s eyes flickered but he dutifully selected a series of outfits suitable for the cute dragon and phoenix twins.
“Are these two little ones dragon and phoenix twins? Would you like to dress them in matching outfits? Our store recently launched a parent-child collection that includes adult styles.”
Seeing Ruan Meng flipping through a magazine while sitting as if it had nothing with her, Manager Zhang had no choice but to squat down to ask the twins for their opinions.
Although the older brother Ruan An An hesitated, Ruan Le Le was quick and decisive. She selected over ten outfits from head to toe. However, when she spotted the price tag on one outfit, her already round and gem-like eyes widened in shock.
“Brother, this suspender outfit costs twenty thousand yuan!”
“What?” Ruan An An, who was initially unsure, squeaked softly but quickly raised his voice upon seeing the price. “Twenty thousand yuan!”
Both Ruan An An and Ruan Le Le immediately returned the outfit to Manager Zhang and backed away a few steps, resembling a pair of adorable little troublemakers.
Manager Zhang felt awkward and had no choice but to interrupt Ruan Meng, who was still on the sofa.
“Ma’am, you see…” how should we proceed?
“Are you done choosing?” Ruan Meng put down the celebrity magazine in her hand and nodded at the several outfits that were selected separately. She appeared ready to pay and leave.
“Are you really going to buy these for us?” Ruan Le Le bit her lip. There was some uncertainty in her tone as she saw Ruan Meng standing up and heading toward the cashier.
Having already paid the bill, Ruan Meng glanced at Ruan Le Le and Ruan An An but remained silent. Instead, she headed toward the brand luggage section with a pile of clothes.
“Take them to choose two of the best children’s suitcases.” Ruan Meng was the type of person who would sit rather than stand. After she finished speaking, she sat down on a small sofa in the luggage area and allowed the shop assistant to guide the children in selecting suitcases.
Perhaps because their earlier commotion in the clothing store was quite loud, the shop assistant in the luggage section recognized them and excitedly helped the two children pick out a pink and a blue suitcase from a luxury brand.
“Ma’am, do you think these two options are alright?” The assistant presented the two most expensive suitcases of their store next to the two cute children for Ruan Meng’s approval.
“Do you like them?” This was the first time Ruan Meng inquired about Ruan An An and his sister’s opinions aside from telling them her name.
Ruan Le Le, who was prideful, turned her head away after hearing her words, while the less assertive An An nodded. “They’re nice, but they’re so expensive.”
“I understand.” Ruan Meng nodded knowingly and handed her bank card to assistant who was standing by with a gleam in his eyes.
Once the assistant provided the confirmation slip, Ruan Meng placed the bags containing the newly purchased outfits in front of the kids. “Fold them up and put them inside.”
“Huh? Oh.” Little An An instinctively began to fold the clothes, but Ruan Le Le quickly stopped him. “What’s wrong with you, sister?”
Ruan Le Le shot a glare at her silly brother and then turned to Ruan Meng with a glare, “Aren’t you our mommy? Why aren’t you helping us fold?”
Ruan Meng, who had thought this was none of her business, lifted her head from the magazine and fixed a light but intimidating gaze on Le Le, who seemed to be attempting to usurp power.
“What? Don’t you want those clothes anymore?”
Ruan Meng’s threat turned Ruan Le Le’s face bright red, and Ruan An An timidly urged, “Be good, sister, let’s listen to Mommy!”
“Mommy? Have you heard her admit she’s our mommy?” Feeling angry and embarrassed, Ruan Le Le accidentally voiced her thoughts.
