The body Ruan Meng now used was indistinguishable from her original one.

The small oval face was very charming. Aside from her rosy lips, her most enticing feature was her pair of deep and godlike eyes.

Those eyes that were partially hidden by stray hair resembled an entire galaxy. It seemed that just a glance could pull someone into the whirlpool within.

At this moment, Ruan Meng stood still, silent and unmoving. It was the security guard at the orphanage who approached her and asked, “Ma’am, may I help you?”

“I’m here to find my children.” Ruan Meng’s voice was pleasant, reminiscent of a graceful beauty, like a gentle stream flowing through a serene landscape.

The security guard was taken aback at her words. Without waiting for a response, Ruan Meng registered her visit and entered the orphanage to find the director.

“What? You say you’re the biological mother of An An and Le Le?”

Director Liu was astonished upon hearing Ruan Meng’s purpose, but her surprise quickly transformed into deep suspicion.

An An and Le Le were a pair of twins, a boy and a girl. They were abandoned at the orphanage’s doorstep when they were just one year old, and it had been over two years since then.

Director Liu doubted Ruan Meng was telling the truth mainly because the woman claiming to be the twins’ mother looked far too young.

She almost appeared as if she were still a minor.

Ruan Meng didn’t want to waste time talking. She laid out the forged birth certificate and the household registration booklet that Time had created for their “family of three” in front of Director Liu.

“I want to take them home today. If the director doesn’t believe me, we can do a paternity test, but please hurry.”

Ruan Meng’s personality was cold, and after experiencing betrayal, she had become even more cold.

“Wait a moment, please.”

As an official institution, the Nianxin Orphanage was bound by protocol. Director Liu, being a responsible person, decided to conduct a paternity test for Ruan Meng and the twins in the end. When the results came back, Director Liu had nothing more to say.

“Miss Ruan, the report confirms you are indeed the biological mother of An An and Le Le. Please follow me, I’ll take you to see the children.”

“Okay.”

Although Director Liu was puzzled by what happened today, she dutifully brought the twins to Ruan Meng.

Sitting in the reception room, Ruan Meng stared indifferently at the two children before her, who bore no resemblance to Ruan Meng at all.

[Are you sure it’s them?]

Ruan Meng had become familiar with communicating with the system and understood the general concept of the so-called system mall, so their communication was smooth at this moment.

[Yes, they are your biological son and daughter.]

[You’re mistaken. They are Ruan Meng’s children, not mine.]

—

Two days ago, after sleeping for tens of thousands of years atop the Summit of the Gods, Ruan Meng suddenly felt an overwhelming weariness. Without saying a word, she began to self-destruct her soul.

Just as her soul was about to dissipate and on the brink of returning to chaos, her good disciple unexpectedly appeared before her and wanted to devour her soul.

At that moment, Ruan Meng’s soul was nearly gone, so she unleashed her last bit of power to perish alongside her good disciple, dissolving into the void.

But her consciousness inexplicably found itself within Ruan Meng’s body.

Lost in thought, Ruan Meng snapped back to attention after Director Liu called her for the fourth time. She focused on the three people in front of her. “What’s wrong?”

“What… what’s wrong?” Director Liu widened her eyes, bewildered that the biological mother who had come to reclaim her children seemed so unfazed.

Clearly, she was the one who had come to take the children, but now that she was face-to-face with them, she appeared indifferent.
